Visitors on board?

On May 30 the Whisper stops at Amsterdam from 0900 to 1800. Our closest friend lives only 15km from Amsterdam and we would like to invite her aboard and spend the day with her (we know Amsterdam so well that we have no intention to leave the ship).

My question is if she comes aboard at, say, 0900 and leaves at 1700 can she have lunch and drinks on board and how are they paid for? Also how do we clear this with SS- do we need to ''book'' her visit in advance?

We did that in Capetown when we were on the Explorer. Had friends come aboard, we had drinks in our suite etc. From memory, we had to pre book it with Silverseas, they had to have their passports for identity, and there was a cost involved ( $30 ?? could be wrong about the amount - but it was charge to the shipboard account. ) No hassles, we had a great time showing them the ship.

Thanks. So I think the best thing is to email SS and tell them what we propose?

Just thought I would add what we learned. Each guest is allowed two visitors in most ports. Information that will be required is the visitor's full name, date of birth, passport number, place of issue, date of issue and dad of expiration. Visitors will need to bring their passports with them. Requests need to be submitted 14 days or more in advance if visiting you on embarkation day. It can also be done on the ship for other days

We've done it too on London...

our friends had to send us a PC of their passport then we finalised once on board.. they then needed a UK id We paid a fee which was 100usd at the time

we ended up having an amazing evening and our friends didn't leave the ship until the sun was rising (net result for SS was a booking)

Our son came aboard silver shadow in shanghai for dinner. It was smooth arranging it with SS less so with the Chinese immigration authorities which resulted in him hanging around for two hours in the outing rain while they argued about the paperwork!

Please see Silversea's guest registration form attached. Registration needs to be done 45 days in advance the form says. We have had visitors on board numerous times (Spain, Australia) and as stated above the charge (lunch in our case) was charged against our SBC in most cases. One time Silversea did not charge us for our two visitors on board.

Thanks for all the advice and the links. You have all restored my faith that CC isn't just a moaning place for disaffected whingers!!

Not sure if the above mentions it but you will need a scanned copy of their passport photo pages. Contact Richard Latham or one of the other Guest Relation Managers in the London Office to get it sorted.

Thanks, big J. Will get her to send one to us. And I'll give the London office a call.
