nast Posted July 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2017 Looking for a French Polynesia cruise on Oceania Marina March next year. As most ports are tender ports, wondering if anyone have ever missed a port due to high waves or wind so tendering was not possible ? Tender Ports are ; Moorea, Raiatea, Bora Bora, Nuku Hiva, Fakarava, Rangiroa and Huahine

FlightMedic555 Posted August 10, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 10, 2017 We missed Rangiroa due to weather. They could not safely get the ship into the lagoon.

Rare Keith1010 Posted August 27, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 27, 2017 We have sailed the Pacific Ocean Islands many times and have not missed a port but like any area where tendering is involved it can happen. Keith
Emdee Posted September 2, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 2, 2017 A few years ago the Marina was unable to sail into the Moorea lagoon and after three attempts tooted its horn and slunk away. This January when there was a hurricane in Tahiti a couple of ships bypassed it. Pre hurricane the weather was so bad in Bora Bora that tenders to Vaitape were cancelled. I would suggest that you look at the months you plan to travel as the weather from December to Match is unpredictable and April and May can see high winds. That being said i have travelled to FP 4 times in the bad months and only this january was really bad.
