Walking on seabed Vanuatu

 Share

Recommended Posts

I was asked today about an excursion at Vanuatu where you walk on the seabed in a diving helmet.

To be honest I know nothing about it.

The big issue was, "How easy is it to breathe?"

Anyone done it?

I've done it several times in various other locations, and even though I am claustrophobic, found it very easy to breathe. The helmet is somewhat heavy, but it doesn't feel so once in the water. We had all different ages and abilities in the group each time we have done it, and no one has ever had an issue or backed out. I am not able to do Snuba, but I was easily able to do the helmet. I'm sure others have differing opinions. Either way, hope you enjoy Vanuatu.

You can also wear glasses inside the helmet.

There appears to be different setup's with the air, but most helmets seem to be attached to a hookah , the principle of operation is the air evacuates the water inside the helmet and that's what you breathe, on the under water scooters they have a separate air tank, which will run out of air eventually.

Its on my list of things to do.
