Text messaging on Allure

Does anyone know if there is a way to be able to text on board the Allure? We have a group going and we thought it would be so much easier to text each other to be able to find each other than spend endless time trying to find each other. Also which package is best for face timing (having Facebook, etc) your grandkids at home?

Be aware that bandwidth limitations may severely limit video communications aboard any ship. Also, a number of cruiselines either block or restrict video and/or VOIP.

My suggestion is to rely on email and consider any other communications as a bonus.

We were on Oasis in February and my granddaughter tried texting several times and it never worked. Everyone in the family had a iphone 6..... UPDATE... I was just told that texting worked on the ship on port days and no one was charged extra on their phone bill happy cruising
