72cruiser74 Posted September 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Good afternoon. I've been wanting to surprise my wife with a Mediterranean Cruise. That is until I saw the weather in late Feb of 50 degrees. Has anyone been on this cruise? Any advice?

Rare cruisemom42 Posted September 28, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2016 The Mediterranean does have a winter season. You don't say which ports this cruise goes to, but the temperatures and overall weather are going to be more wintery in the northerly Med (e.g., Venice, Florence, Marseille, Istanbul, Split, etc.) and less pronounced in the southern Med (Crete, Rhodes, Sicily, Santorini, Israel, and so on). 72cruiser74 Posted September 28, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Sorry - good point. It's the Mediterranean romantic cruise which sails from Barcelona past Montecarlo onto Rome.
Rare Hlitner Posted September 28, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Sorry - good point. It's the Mediterranean romantic cruise which sails from Barcelona past Montecarlo onto Rome. We would not take a cruise in that part of the Med in February. While the Med climate is not always awful in the winter, there are plenty of times when the weather is lousy. In fact, Rome has even had some snowstorms (hard to believe given how far south it is). That time of year also finds some popular places closed down for the winter. For example, most of Eze Village is closed in the winter. Places like Capri and Santorini practically close down in the winter....with fewer ferry options. On the other hand, there will be much less crowding at popular tourist sites, you will not have to worry about being hot, and cruise prices are usually a bargain. 72cruiser74 Posted September 28, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Thanks for your input. Since I live in snow 9 months of the year I'm not really wanting to have to wear a jacket on holidays!
