So Jeff, only 2 more sleeps for you and your Breeze cruise will be here! Enjoy yourselves, best of luck in the casino, and smooth seas! I am looking forward to your next review on your return and Patti's wonderful pictures. You and your family have a real zest for life and she captures that beautifully.

Have a wonderful time!

Jeff,

Have a wonderful cruise, wish I was going but will be back on the Splendor in a few weeks. This time to the North, so I don't have to worry about another burn.

My regards to Patti.

Look forward to cruising with you again.

Enjoy with the family and may the cards be kind.

Hi:

I am finishing up my research on the Spendor, and have a few questions (I have posted them in another thread, but just in case you/others have not seen them), hopefully you can provide a few answers. Your help is much appreciated.

1) On which decks are you unable to walk from one side of the ship to the other (aft to forward/forward to aft)

2) What is the difference between Seaside Theater and Dine-In movies?

3) How much does popocorn cost by the Seaside theater?

4a) Where do you get your towels for the pool – are the given to you in your stateroom, or do you check them out near the pool(s) [if so, is it by each pool]? Is there a “lost towel fee” if you do not return your towels – if so, how much?

4b) Where do you check out towels to take off the ship to take to a beach?

5) Is there a shower & changing room near the fitness room that can be used (is there a fee if you do not have a spa pass)?

6) Any “tips” for embarking vs disembarking on Carnival compared to other cruise lines (e.g., what is different on Carnival that for RCI)? Including any differences with embarking & disembarking in NYC vs. other ports (e.g., Bayonne)

7) On the Splendor, are the stewards okay when you ask them to empty out the fridge?

8) Any tips on the best place to sit for various shows on the Splendor?

9) I read somewhere that the TV station is broadcast out of Denver, CO – is that true?

10) Where is the best place to watch when leaving the ports?

11) Where is the darkest place to watch stars at night?

12) What are the hours of the Coffee Shop on embarkation day?

13) Are bathrobes given in each stateroom (regardless of category) – If so, how many are provided?

14) I am trying to create a cross reference table between Carnival language and RCI language, this is what I have so far – can you fill in the ?????s and are there any others I can add? [Also feel free to add the equivalent cross references for other cruise lines as well.]

CARNIVAL - - - RCI

• Fun Times /Carnival Capers (old)- - - Anchors Away

• Your Time Dining - - - My Time Dining

• Elegant Night - - - Formal Night

• Sign and Sail Card - - - SeaPass Card

• Chef’s Table - - - Chef’s Table

• Lido Restaurant - - - Windjammer

• Camp Carnival - - - Adventure Ocean

• Club O2- - - Optix Teen Disco

• Serenity Pool - - - Solarium Pool

• ??? - - - Centrum

• ??? - - - Diamond Club Lounge

Thank you!!!

1. Decks 3 & 4 due to the dining rooms and galley

2. No difference.

3. Popcorn is FREE!!

4a. You are given the appropriate amount of beach towels in your cabin which can be used on board at the pools, or in port. Bring the used ones back to the cabin and your room steward will give you new ones. Forget or lose them will cost you $22 each. You can also sign for towels by the pools. Again, don't forget to return them or it will cost you!

4b. See 4a.

5. Yes, no fee.

6. Haven't cruised on RCI in about 8 years, so I can't comment.

7. The room stewards will gladly empty your fridge if you ask them.

8. Anywhere NOT behind a pole!

9. Not always.

10. Your balcony, out on the open decks, or the "secret" decks.

11. The "secret" decks are really dark. Can't tell you where they are because it's a secret! :D Or you can read my Liberty review.

12. I believe from embarkation until 11pm. I'm not home, so I can't check the Fun Times.

13. There should be enough bathrobes in each cabin for everybody.

14. Atrium --- Centrum

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry if this was asked and answered...at the BCH did you notice that the water was oily or dirty? It seems really close to the docks and not very separated, so I wondered if any debris from the ships came into the swimming area..thank you and your photos are wonderful!

Could I ask about the towels? Do you need to turn over your ID or sign and sail card to get towels? Did you bring your own or use theirs? Also, did you feel safe using your credit card paying for the balance? How did you get your tickets after using the outside vendor for the tickets? Thank you in advance for your help.

The confirmation is emailed to you immediately. You take that to the front desk to check in. They imprint your credit card then for the balance due, and for any overage above your $40. per person food and beverage allowance. They combine the allowances together so you don't have to worry about how much each individual is using. So if there are 4 in your party, your food and beverage allowance is $160. You are given a voucher for the food and beverage, and also a voucher for towels, which you present to the towel hut by the pool. All very easy.

How is the layout of Splendour, I know some of their ships the Galley is on some of the levels, where you have to find a different way to get to where your going on the same level?

The Splendor is like that. If you want to go from deck 3 or 4 forward to aft, you have to go up to deck 5, go back to the aft staircase or elevators, then go back down. remember, deck 5 is your friend,(or deck 2). It's really not that difficult.

Is it true Splendour is longer because it was designed for Costa as a Concordia class?

It us true that Splendor was originally being built for Costa, but was transferred over to Carnival. At 952 ft, she is the exact same length as all of the Conquest class ships. What sets her apart from the Conquest Class, is the configuration of the Lido deck, with no tiered seating and a retractable roof over the mid ship pool. The aft pool on the Lido deck is open, as opposed to the closed in aft pool with the roof on the Conquest class. As a side note, the Concordia's aft pool was also enclosed, which was the only difference between the Splendor and the Concordia, other than décor.
