On 4 and 5 day cruise when you earn 1000 points or on cruises 6 days or more when you earn 1500 points playing the slots you will be issued a Drinks On Us Card. (DOU)

As of now, unless Carnival changes it, You will be issued a Drinks On Us Card on the very first day of your next cruise if you earn 5000 points on your current cruise.

It takes $2.50 run through the slot machine to earn one (1) point.

The other widely offered "comp" are free and/or discounted cruises. No one seems to know what the formula is for getting one, but they are offered. I got a letter on the last day of one cruise offering terms for a future free casino cruise. Other offers have shown up in my email or on Carnival's website in my VIFP section. I don't recall an offer in my 1st 10 years of cruising, but in the last 2 or 3 years I've had several with no change in my on board casino activity.

I play Let It Ride almost exclusively on a cruise. I'm there several hours per day. I do not have the DOU card. But the pit boss buys most of my drinks. Be nice to his dealers and he will be nice to you. (tipping that is) Believe me he knows whats going on and how much and how often you tip.

Not true. MOST of the times this will work but definitely not all the time. Carnival Pitt bosses can be very inconsistent so don't expect anything, no matter how nice you are or how much you tip. Gamble, have fun but don't play for comps or you'll probably be disappointed.

Have to agree with this. Got a letter from my Liberty cruise(Nov. 12), Conquest cruise(Nov. 13) and Breeze cruise(Mar. 14) but not one from the Valor cruise. Played pretty much the same on each one ( I play Craps only for med. to high stakes and about 3-4 hours a night). It has a lot to due with how generous the pit boss or casino host is.

Just received a letter last week for a 7 day casino cruise. Pay $150 and get $100 OBC good thru April 2016. We did one last year and paid $100 and got $100 OBC. Think it cost us like $82 in taxes and port fees. Not real big gamblers but guess we played enough! Not sure what the method to the madness is but it works for us! 😎

That offer had nothing to do with your spending habits or time spent in the casino. They basically draw names and you happened to get lucky. Pack and play offers are completely random.

The last 3 cruises we have been on (including the one coming up on the 31st) we have had casino comps. We havent paid more than $150 per person including taxes for the last 2 eight day cruises we have been on and we have had balcony rooms. The one coming up on the 31st we paid $160 per person including taxes and we have a 4J room. All of these comp cruises, we have rec'd $100 obc so we actually paid less per person.

Another luck of the draw pack and play offer.

Yes, I agree. There are letters or offers you get in the mail or on your VIFP online page. Those are just that - offers for cheaper or free cruises that are mostly random.

The letter you get personally from the Casino Host or Manager, slid under your door, is the free cruise you "earn" from your play (or losses). Not always have to lose to get it either. It's how much you bet and how long you play.

The offers you get under your door on the next to last night are called bounce back offers. Again there is no know to us commoners formula but it is believed that you don't get an offer if you have a cruise booked. Others will dispute this. Bounce Back offers (BBL's & BBC's)

Starting Sept 2015, these offers are now available in your VIFP profile!!!

They are handed out on the last night based on a curve starting at 2500 points

The players who meet the requirements (They do not have a future cruise booked) will be offered BBL's starting from the highest points players and moving down until the allotted offers are handed out.

This offer is for a free room on the cruise of your choice (capacity controlled though)

You MUST book it within 2 weeks and take it within 6 months of when you received it.

Typically, no additional comps will be included in the offer.

BBC coded letters are sometimes offered to players with future cruises booked. They are valid only on NEW bookings. You must contact casino services and inquired what BBL you are eligible for, based on previous play. Typically, these must be booked within 1 week and taken in 4 months.

I never knew this! I got the "under the door" letter on my last cruise but couldn't use it; I am now booked on what you're calling a pack and play. I really thought it had to do with the casino and how much/how long I played. I thought pack and play was for immediate travel, like within the next few weeks, but I booked my next cruise four months in advance...

Can you explain more about this please?

TIA

ImaNewfie ~ Just curious (if I may ask) ~ How many points are you getting to get offered that (a balcony and casino cash??) Because, I thought I had a ton of points, but because I was already booked on a premier cruise ~ I did not get the offer. But, it will be my first premier cruise, and it is only a discounted rate (not free) ~ I wonder if I had not booked that in advance if I might have been offered a better offer.

So, I guess what I am asking is , How many points did you have?? (and if that is not something you want to share ~ thats OK too!)

Thanks

Going on our 3rd bounce back cruise next week. I think they are offered more to table players then slots as my wife had over 7500 points last cruise and didn't get "the letter". I play blackjack on the $25 table with an average bet of $50 every night for hours. One night I played 704 hands (Yes they know how much and how long you play, just ask). Yup, I got "the letter".

I earned over 5000 points on my August-Pride cruise. I received the Bounce Back Cruise offer under my door on the last night and have recently booked two separate cruises under their Pack and Play promotion. But, how do I receive the Drinks on Us Card on my next cruise to Bermuda on 10/26? Will the card be waiting for me in my Cabin or, do I have to inquire at the Casino Cage? Thanks for your help.

I really think the pack and play is more random then the bounce back offers. There are rules in place for the BB offers. pack and play is a mystery. I play a lot in the casinos. I won big one time and was offered pack and play when I got home. The next two times I lost big and no offers came. I am happy for all who get offers but I think carnival gets more people upset with this system then happy because you hear people who spend $100 a night and get offers and people who spend a lot more and don't. I am happy when I get them and not upset when I don't. I just keep checking for the surprise offer.

I always email ahead to make sure I am getting my DOU cards and casino cash. Once onboard, there is a card in the cabin that I take to the casino cage and get my card (and open my line of credit)!

Unless your wife booked under her own room with her own payment method then you would only get one letter. I promise, with 7500 points she would have earned the BB offer. They just aren't going to offer more than one per booking is my guess. Otherwise your wife got screwed and should have complained. lol

Not necessarily... DH and I both received BB on our last sailing under our door last night.

Actually, the offer may have had something to do with her spending habits or time spent in the casino. I too use to think it was completely random; however, I've been told that it's based more on the amount of time you spend in the casino rather than the amount of money spent.

I have been consistently getting the "free" offers, so unless it was random the first time and they just keep giving them to me based on that first random "draw" it's obviously not totally random. Surely I can't be "randomly" picked 2-3 times a year.

I am beginning to believe it is based on time spent in the casino because I don't spend much money (a maximum of $75 a day) but I do tend to spend alot of time either by betting low or playing back the $ I win. I get the offers sometimes when my sister who spends WAY more than me - for example she lost her entire bankroll on our last cruise ($1000) in the first two days - doesn't get the offer. The only difference being the time I spend as opposed to her losing all her $$ the first 2 days and not spending much time playing the last 6 days of the cruise.

Again, doesn't sound completely random to me.

This is what I meant by my last posting about pissing off a lot of gamblers. It may be random but in the eyes of the gambler who spends a lot of money and time in the casino they can't understand why lesser gamblers get the offers and not them. Again I have gotten the offers so this is not complaining. I just don't know their rhyme or reason for giving them out. Again if we knew that we would all be doing it.

I know for a fact it has absolutely NOTHING to do with your time spent in the casino OR money spent. I spend more time and money in the casino than 99% of the people that gamble. I haven't been offered a Pack and Play yet and nor do I expect to. I've seen many people that spend much less time and money get the offers and I don't. Yes, it is random. It just seems that once you're chosen randomly for this offer, you stay on their list.

Consider yourself lucky and enjoy your free, random cruises. :)
