Whale Watching in December

My husband only said yes to our December 24th cruise to Cabo, Mazatlan and PV to see some whales. He's not going to be a happy camper if he doesn't see any whales. I looked at a navy seal looking boat excursion that seemed to be the best for getting to them.

Any suggestions for whale watching in these three places are much appreciated.

Look outside a few hours before anchoring in Cabo. We saw lots of whales and dolphins from the ship.

One of the best sights I saw-- We were already anchored when an NCL ship rounded Land's End. There was a whale jumping in front of the ship.

I'd take a ship's tour from Cabo. If for nothing else, the ship excursions have priority for the tenders.

Generally, you should expect to see whales there in late December. Cabo would be the best target, PV shortly behind. Have not heard about whale watching in Mazatlan.

A couple of years ago, when sailing out of Mazatlan in late December, there were a bunch of whales swimming near the ship. Make sure that you are outside when getting near and when leaving ports. Enjoy!

Whales were extremely scarce in PV last winter (January through March). Hope to see more this winter. Last winter was the worst in a long time for whale sightings. We heard that the ocean was too warm in the area.
