No availability on ANY 7 night Caribbean cruises?????

I've just looked into booking a 7 night cruise around the Caribbean and it appears there is no availability for any? None!!

I put my details in online for 2 adults and two children and it comes back as no grade? I went through a load of different dated cruises but still nothing. I then searched for a 14 night Caribbean cruise and could book one, I don't understand?!?

Why are P&O advertising 7 night cruises if you can't actually book one?

Any thoughts??

I had noticed that as well. However they are still advertised on other travel agents website.I suspect P and O are trying to encourage longer bookings as probably not many cabins left on 7 night cruises.I would suggest either phoning P and O direct or try booking on a cruise specialist site.

Not exactly sure how this is going to work but I have read that the change over in St Lucia is only for 400 cruisers. Perhaps that is what is limiting the 7 night cruises. Just a thought.

Only a certain number of cabins are available for 7 night cruises - a lot are held back for 14 nighters. You need to speak to P & O direct. It's possible some may become available nearer the time .

Try taking the children off and see what happens, could be they don't have or don't want to release 4 birth cabins? Let us know what happens just for interest failing that a call to P & O

I can see the theory behind this but if everybody did a 14 day cruise, staggered by 7 days on starts, then this will still not enough for each changeover to work.

I wonder if they are concentrating on the 14 day cruises as there are fewer flights on half as many cruises and then working out what 7 day remnants are left with people staggering the fortnights leaving occasional gaps.

Later on in the season they can reduce the price of the remnant 7 day cruises or allow people to expand to 21 at a competitive rate. Some people will think this a good deal.

For me flying this amount of time for a seven day break is not worth it.

I have to say John my thoughts exactly. I am not keen on going to Southampton for a seven night cruise. I suspect that the bulk of the cruises taken will be 14 nights or more with the St Lucia turnaround being smaller numbers as I said above.

Sailing out and sailing back is our preferred method of getting some winter Caribbean sun.

DaiB, I concur - it's the flights in/out St Lucia. Only one plane load I think, i.e. c.350-400 passengers. The 7-day option is a half-baked idea at the moment. The airport at St Lucia is not set up for large numbers as with Barbados, and the ship isn't really fully on-board (excuse the pun) with some passengers only doing "half a cruise". Recently we wanted to do a 7 day cruise but whilst we could fly to Barbados, we couldn't get back from St Lucia. Cabins were available but no return flights. P&O declined to arrange for seats on scheduled flights so we haven't booked.

We did the TA on Britannia last year (22 nights) flying back from St Lucia. As previous posters have said there is only one flight back from St Lucia (378 pax I was told) and the airport is really not equipped to take any more. Booked the same cruise for this year while we were on board and the same thing only one return flight. Was told by the future cruise guy that the 22 night cruise was already heavily booked and he could sell it many times over if there were more flights. There were also very limited cabins (only obstructed left apparently) and on return I have tried to change to a higher grade but told none available so I suspect that P&O are trying to fill the less desirable cabins first
