Understanding refund of taxes and fees

Suppose you have booked a cruise on Oceania and one of the passengers is unable to go.

Is it better to no show or call and cancel that passenger ? Assume the second passenger will take the cruise.

Does either option effect the taxes and fees (maybe port fees) that have been paid ? Are they refunded even thought the fare is forfeited ??

Thanks.

It seems it would revert to a single booking. Perhaps some that have booked single could chime in on the taxes and fees. Might also depend on whether you are past the penalty phase or not also. Best to check with your TA and let them handle it.

I can only speak to when we cancelled the day before the cruise Taxes & fees were refunded

but both of us cancelled

I would ask Oceania or your TA

Really! When we had to cancel a cruise the day before we didn't get a refund on the taxes & fee's. I'll have to check with "O" on that-thanks for the information.
