Baseball play-offs and Summit cruise

DH and I are currently booked on Summit for New England cruise leaving 10/2/16... DH has asked me to find out from someone who has done this trip on the Summit before and is also a baseball fan if the cabin television will receive the ball games. I know we can choose movies and several news channels, but will he be able to watch any of the ball games in our cabin either live or recorded?

They showed the Super Bowl and the Championship football games when we were aboard over January and Feb this year so would guess that they'd also show the big baseball series.

Fantastic!!! Did you watch them in your cabin or did you have to go to one of the bars?

They showed the NCAA tournament up on the new rooftop terrace this past March.

DH wants to watch them in our cabin.....do you know what channels were available on the New England cruise? Like will we be able to access regular networks or ESPN?

Have no idea as we never turned on the tv other than to check our seapass account.

I know that's the only time I turned ours on too....I guess I'll have to bring my laptop and buy the internet package...fortunately we live in NY so don't have to fly anywhere. :D

We are on the same cruise. I sure hope the ball games will not be on the stateroom TV. I have a hard enough time getting DH away from the TV at home, and from watching the movies onboard. :D

:D And on our cruise, I hope the weather will be too cold and miserable for these games to be broadcast on the big screen above our heads in our AQ stateroom. :( Too late to change staterooms, we tried.

I'll bring the wine, you bring the crackers and we'll send the guys to watch the games together while we sit on our balcony and watch the waves!!!! I have a C2 aft cabin on Deck 8 ...I'd really hate for it to be too cold for us to sip wine on the balcony!! But I do know what you mean about dragging him away from baseball, football, tennis.....only sport he's not into is basketball! :D

I am pretty certain that any post season games will be on the terrace movie screen. Any cruise I have been on with an outdoor screen catered to sports fans.

Last year I was on a cruise (albeit RC) during the Mets/Cubs playoffs and all games were available on the cabin's TV (don't remember what channel), and also on the TVs in the casino.

Sounds good! :)

If the weather is still mild enough, sitting on the balcony during the day will probably be doable. Especially if the ship is in port. The movie deck is up on 12 and open to the elements. When the ship is moving, hopefully it will be too cold and windy for anyone to go up there.

We are in AQ on Deck 11, just about right under the movie speakers. We picked our stateroom almost 2 years ago when there was no talk about this theater. Have been in this location before and it was quiet. :(

Is AQ Aqua Spa class? Is it worth the extra $$$? We love the aqua spa cafe for breakfast and lunch....only place where everything is plant based!!

I cannot specifically speak to this cruise and baseball in particular. What I can say is that in my experience, no, it is not the norm that any post season games are shown. It really varies. I think the final games are usually shown (Super Bowl, World Series, etc) but I would not count on all the playoff games being shown at all - although you could get lucky and see some. Regardless of itinerary or the mix of passengers, Celebrity leans towards showing soccer and rugby and sometimes tennis rather than games those in the US are more inclined to watch. That has been my experience in 29 X cruises so far.

Yes, and we think it worth it. We love Blu. I love the AQSC, but DH does not. :(

Currently, there are no other AQ's available for our sailing.

Well, since Summit will be sailing the US coast, hopefully we'll have baseball available to us. I'd love to see it on the new Terrace screen...fingers crossed!

Pat. :)

We do the Canada/New England Cruise every year and sports coverage is spotty at best. One year DH and I actually used our mini-bar as we had to stay in our cabin to watch a Yankee playoff game.

If it's a big game like Super Bowl, NCAA Championship game, World Cup Final they will try and show it on the big screen, casino bar, etc. But if it's not than there's no guarantee.

The OP states they are sailing 10/2. No one is going to want to be outside on the rooftop terrace (especially at night) going north in October. Trust me. Especially once you get up to Quebec. One year is snowed 4 inches the first day we were in Quebec City.

So the good news is he might be able to watch playoff game(s) in our cabin and the bad news is I better rethink my walking tour of Quebec City and my wardrobe! :D

Hats, gloves, scarfs, good walking shoes/hiking boots and rain gear. For some reason it always rains somewhere along the way. We have gotten soaking wet in Halifax (more than once), PEI and Quebec City.

Sometimes it rains overnight and everything is wet the next morning. Bring a small towel with you off the ship then you can wipe the benches in the Public Gardens in Halifax or the Plains of Abraham in Quebec City so you would be able to sit down and not get wet.

Thanks CC....the small towel is brilliant!!! I never would have thought of that. The hats, gloves, walking shoes and rain gear go everywhere, except maybe the Caribbean :D

Glad I could be of service. Have a great time. It's one of our favorite itineraries. In Bar Harbor go to The Pink Pastry Shop and get the pumpkin whoopie pies, in Portland go to the Portland Lobster Company for real fresh Maine Lobster. We usually get Lobster Rolls.

A traditional lobster roll is a sandwich filled with lobster meat soaked in butter and served on a steamed hot dog bun or similar roll, so that the opening is on the top rather than on the side.

Yes you can walk and eat your whoopie pie at the same time. Pinks is on the right side of the street as you are going up the hill after you get off the tender and walk across the street.
