Lisbon hotel pre-cruise?

What are some good hotel choices in Lisbon pre-cruise (other than the Ritz)?

Avenida Palace -- nice central location in the heart of the city with a very friendly and helpful staff. We have stayed there twice in the last few years and encountered our fellow passengers.

If you are after really good boutique type hotels, any of the Heritage Lisbon hotels are worth considering. I like the Avenida Libertade, other people have raved about the Britania.

We will be staying at the Avenida Palace pre- cruise this April, based on the recommendation of friends who thought it was wonderful. They loved the service, the location, the room, the breakfast and, in particular, the bar.

Oh, yes -- the breakfast! How could I have forgotten to mention that. They provide a lovely highly varied buffet of tasty food served in an elegant ( if slightly fade glory) room with formally dressed waiters.

We also had a lovely stay at Avenida Palace in Oct 2014. Really nice cozy bar, great piano music in the main room past the lobby having a drink before dinner (there was a card in our room with a schedule of the music performances for every night of the week). Awesome breakfast as others have mentioned. It has tons of character and old world charm, don't expect modern facilities. Fabulous location.

You might want to consider the Majestic Hotel and Spa. Great hotel, great location.
