Cruising out of San Juan

Will be on the Carnival Fascination in March 2017, sailing out of San Juan. I believe Pier 4. LLooking to book our flights because I'm seems they are going quick. The Ship doesn't leave the Port until 10 pm so im thinking we are safe getting a flight that arrives in SJ by 5:45 because from what I've found is the airport and the Cruise Port are about 15-20 minutes apart from one another.

Anyone have experience with these flight times and cruise times? Does it seem it would work?

Thanks

Gal

Any possibility to get an earlier arrival time? I personally wouldn't want to cut it this close...you never know.

Your not leaving much room for any possible delays. If you must fly in the day of the cruise catch an earlier flight and dont book one that has any connections. Anything can happen to your flight or the connecting flight you have to transfer to from being delayed by weather to mechanical problems. If all goes without a hitch your original flight will work.

I spent a week in old San Juan steps from the cruise port. Traffic was bumper to bumper everyday from the city ( airport area) to port area. Allow at least 45-1hr to be safe for travel time.

For the few Cruises we have been on, we have never been ones to fly in the day of sailing. I just thought with leaving 10 pm we could swing it. Unfortunately SW doesn't have any other earlier flights that day. So we will probably look into coming in a day earlier.

Because we did want to stay a couple days after (as I posted on another thread) to do a few activities (Old San Juan and El Yunque) so maybe we can do some of this pre-cruise. Any ideas as far as hotels to stay at?

Thanks for all your responses

Gal

You are flying from upstate NY? I would go the day before and enjoy Old San Juan....
