Princess tour on last day of cruise

We are taking a Princess tour in Rio the last day of our cruise. They are taking us to the airport at the end of the tour. What happens to our luggage, is it on the bus with us or do they send it to the airport for us to pick up? Also, will our carrying be kept with us on the bus?

Thanks

I'd like to know the answer to this question too. Also, do they let you disembark earlier for the post-cruise tour?

I've done this in Santiago but I'm sure the same precautions apply to Rio. Your bags will likely be shipped separately to the airport where you will be escorted from the bus to the area they are being held which (hopefully) ensures no one but those from the correct bus can claim them. There is a small possibly of bags being locked in the hold underneath the bus if the bus is so equipped. You will want to have your airline carry-on stored this way as well, so take a small "personal item" sized bag (such as shoulder bag or backpack) for your passport, camera and any other valuables you will not want out of sight.

Instructions for the tour will be in your cabin a couple days before disembarkation. You will be given luggage tags that specify you are on the tour and be assigned a disembark time that allows everyone on tour to meet at the bus (or other designated meeting place) together.

We just did one in Barcelona and we claimed our luggage and put in on the tour bus , that dropped us off at the airport at the end of the tour. They will give everyone on the tour the same color luggage tag and the time and place to meet before disembarkment

As the above post said, your luggage will be with the bus after you have claimed it and brought it to the bus.

As far as leaving the ship, it will be handled the same as shore excursions during the cruise. You will be told where and at what time to meet and be led off of the ship as a group.

We did this in 2014 in Dover, and took an excursion to Canterbury, and then to Heathrow airport. One of the really neat things about this type of excursion is that even though you are off the ship and not returning, it still feels like you are doing your cruise. It helped that there were a few others on that tour who we had met on the ship at our meet and greet.

The luggage stayed locked on the bus.

We did the bus tour post cruise out of San Francisco. As others stated, you will have luggage tags sent to your room just before the end of the cruise along with your tickets. We met in the Crown Grill with all the others. We picked up our luggage and went through Security and the bus was waiting not too far away. The tour was very good and some folks got off near the airport as they were staying overnight and going home the next day.

We got dropped off at our airline and given our luggage. San Francisco does not have Z check so I am not sure if you can do both. If you could do this at your departure port, it would be worth it.

In Southampton our post cruise tour group (to Heathrow via Windsor) was escorted from the ship and we collected our luggage before moving to the parking lot where the tour bus was waiting. All luggage was then handled by the bus driver and placed in the bus hold lockers . When passengers alighted at the appropriate terminal, it was offloaded for them. We were in a group of approx 30. Sometimes a separate trailer will be attached to the bus for luggage (especially so for mini buses).

It would be unsafe to have it dropped at the airport and left unattended until you arrive.

We were told that our luggage would be with us on the same tour bus that we would be on for the entire day post embarkation. It made me feel good to know that it would be riding right along underneath us during our tour of Buenos Aires. Our flight is not until later that evening and I was worried that it might be taken to the airport early and dropped off; but my understanding is that it will be on the tour bus with us the entire day until we get to the airport.
