Can I bring this on board?

I'm sailing on Poesia Januaray 19th out of Fort Lauderdale. Need to see if I can bring three things on board.

#1: A fan. I'm a light sleeper and need white noise. Think I would be able to bring a small 1 foot by 1 foot fan aboard?

#2: Liquor. I'm sure the answer is somewhere on the boards but I couldn't find it right away. Can I bring a bottle (or two) of liquor aboard?

#3 Lotta Cash. I'm part a large group of several hundred poker players and we're booked through Card Player magazine. We'll be taking over one of the lounges the entire cruise. I plan to bring about $10,000 in cash aboard. Think I'll be questioned when I "empty out my pockets"?

Thanks for your help!

It is hard to know whether you are serious. Assuming you are....

1) Yes, providing it is low power and therefore not a fire-risk. Wouldn't a white-noise generator be lighter, more effective and convenient?

2) Officially not. You are not even allowed to carry water on. How well this rule is enforced varies with experience.

3) You won't be required to empty out your pockets. Different countries on your itinerary may have limits as to the amount of foreign currency you can enter with. If you don't intend taking it off the ship and keep it in your safe that should not be a practical issue - though it is a legal one if your cabin were 'raided' for any reason. Do you really intend losing up to $10,000?

Thanks Tim. Yes. Serious on all fronts. Just a little naive, I guess.

And No, I don't plan on losing $10,000... but there will be several tournaments with $1,000 buy-ins. Thankfully it's not like the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, where people generally bring $50,000 or more!

Thanks!

Were you able to bring wine on your luggage? Was this you carry on? How many botles?

They scan all carry-ons and confiscate all beverages, to be returned at the end of the trip. Don't know about checked bags. The wine package, seven for $80 is a great value.

And of course if you come back into the US with more than $10,000 in cash or equivalent, then don't forget it has to be declared to Customs - and that info gets passed to Treasury/IRS.

Winnings of more than $1,200 on some cruise lines will also cause you to receive a tax form from the cruise line - which is copied to the IRS.

Here's to you winning big in the casino .

Is this your personal experience? What ship and ports confiscated items and which items?
