  1. You will have no problem getting entrees served without sauces. As long as it is the same meat and cooked by the same procedure, i.e. fried, broiled, baked, etc., there should be problem.
  2. If a balcony is your second choice, why? There is more privacy, more cabin space, and no traffic outside the balcony cabin. I am afraid that I have never seen the value in a lanai.
  3. Neither the '23 nor the '20 WC are fair examples of any ships' WC. The '20 was aborted mid-cruise, and the '23 was the first post-pandemic.I think if you read the blogs from HAL's '24 WC, you will see a considerable change - for the better! 2023 was the first WC since the aborted '20 WC, and it was on a larger ship. It was immediately post-pandemic, and there were made cutbacks. It appears that the '24 WC is back to the pre-pandemic wonderful WC cruises that HAL is known for. The blogs are worth reading.
  4. Luggage direct and air credit are not standard HAL perks.
  5. What is the earliest date of the brokerage statement on which one can apply for the Carnival OBC? As I recall, it had to be no more than two months old.
  6. Looking at Hank's explanation, I understand that you are not locked into a fare until you pay and are ticketed. See #37. Hank, pls. correct if I am misunderstanding.
  7. Hank, thank you so much for taking the time to explain the options. Is there any chance that a flight to New Zealand would include New Zealand Air as one of Flight Ease options? Somewhere I read in this form that even Economy Plus was very comfortable. Regardless, whatever flight we book will be either Business or Economy Plus. Never again will we suffer through 13 hours in standard Economy!
  8. What is "Flexair" and what sort of options? We are trying to fashion a reasonably comfortable flight from Tampa to Auckland, by flying first to San Diego, spending a few days there, and then flying from LAX to AUK. Does Flightease allow this and do we then pay our own way to San Diego and Flightease picks up the major segment to AUK?
  9. We have been placed on a wait lists for signature suites. I would not have expected to get one until at least final payment had passed. We had de-listed by that time, however, so I don't know if we would have gotten one.
  10. I am interested in what "valid consumer" law you are referring to which a T&C would not apply?
  11. No, They were purchased last November, and, subsequently, I made three booking, using two of them. All were simply credited to our charge account, presumably because we had requested last fall that our WC deposit be credited to our charge account. There were no FCD's used on that booking.
  12. Last year we cancelled our booking on the full 2024 WC, on which we had made a $7,000 deposit. HAL first refunded the deposit by crediting our HAL account. Our TA directed them to, instead, credit the applicable charge account. We have recently cancelled three shorter cruises, at least one of which the deposit consisted of FCD's. Now, thanks to the WC refund, all of the deposits are being credited back to our charge account instead of crediting back the FCD's to our HAL account. Question: Can I avoid this in the future, or is it standard practice to not credit back to the HAL account the FCD's when a timely cancellation is made? It makes a difference when one is looking at substantial deposits on future cruises and your FCD's are no longer available. Is there a way at the time one buys an FCD aboard ship, to specify that in the event of cancellation, the FCD's will be returned to the HAL account?
  13. It changes according to the cruise; according to the class booked; according to how good the TA is; according to the date booked; according to the time of day; and whether it is currently raining.
  14. I tend to think that HAL has no duty to refund the money. It appears that the airline is the one responsible. What is the difference between being denied boarding either the ship or a plane enroute to the ship when, suddenly, a Covid test reveals that one is positive? HAL has no control over the airline's policy. There is a reason for insurance and if the OP didn't choose to go that route, her recourse may be solely against the airline.
  15. Unfortunately we were not on that cruise. In What year was the cruise? BTW, we, too, never glimpsed a puffin in Iceland - nor in Petropavlosk Bay, although, honestly, I probably would not have recognized one since I had not yet been to Iceland and had seen puffin pictures by the hundreds. Interesting and appealing birds.
