  1. Hello @ryansmousehouse Thank you for your new topic on the Ask a Cruise Question forum! However, it is the forum for general questions regarding cruising. Your inquiry concerns a specific port and is off topic there. To help you out, your new topic has been moved to the Europe - Northern Europe & Baltic Sea forum where it will be on topic. The majority of your fellow Cruise Critic members that have been there frequent this forum and provide feedback here. Browse through the thread titles on this forum looking for threads of interest. You will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that will be of interest to you. The Cruise Critic website and message boards are both great resources for new as well as experienced cruisers, and we are so glad you posted! Please feel free to browse the Cruise Critic Community categories list for the various forums. I suggest you Bookmark the page or put it in your Favorites for quick and easy access in the future. Please read a few threads in the different forums to get a feel for what each forum is about. Make sure you read any pinned threads (aka Stickies) on the top of the first page of threads in most forums. You will find very important instructions or information there. I suggest you use the Follow feature on any new threads you start or any other threads where you are interested in the new replies. That way you will not have to go looking to see if there are new posts because they will come looking for you as notifications. If you need information on how to do it, please click here: How to: Follow Topics & Forums (Subscribed Threads/Forums Info) Happy sails, Host Kat

  4. Hello @rafinmd Perhaps you accidently marked one of the Cruise Critic emails as Spam. If so, I suggest you contact your email provider to see if that can be corrected. Not sure how many email notifications you are receiving per day or at a time, but it could be your email provider is aggressive to prevent spam. Thinking that multiple emails in a row from Cruise Critic would be spam, they bounce one of the Cruise Critic emails back to Cruise Critic. Once one of the Cruise Critic notification emails to you is bounced back to Cruise Critic, then the Cruise Critic software automatically stops sending any further notification emails. Please email help@cruisecritic.com from your current Cruise Critic email address of record and mention your user name. This is so your membership can be verified, and reply sent to your current Cruise Critic email address of record. If your current Cruise Critic email address of record is not correct and needs to be updated before you send your email, please click here: How To: Update your Cruise Critic Email Address. Explain the above possible bounce back situation in your email. Ask if the situation applies to your Cruise Critic account. IIRC our CC Help Michell, UGC Content Coordinator, can possibly investigate for the bounce back situation and possibly correct. Please make sure you have the email address cruisecritic@invisioncloudcommunity.com whitelisted and/or on your safe senders list in your Address Book contacts. Regarding your Notifications on your Followed threads, first make sure you are logged in with your user name & password. You can click your user name located upper right over the small Search bubble in the blue bar. Next, click Account Settings. Under Other Settings, click Notification Settings. On the next page to appear, click Mentions & My Content and Followed Content. Click the little down arrow to open each section and make sure each item is set for your preference. Also, click this link: Manage Followed Content You will see a list for Topics I Follow. To the right of each topic, you can select change preference and make your choice OR you can completely unfollow the topic. (That's how I remove notifications in one place for old threads where I no longer have interest.) You can also check the boxes next to each topic to make changes to multiple topic notification preferences at once. If you use our Gallery Feature, make sure to look at the left of the page when you are viewing your managed content. There is a menu there to select the tabs for albums and images to choose how you receive notifications for items you follow there. Personally, I no longer use email for Cruise Critic message board notifications. I have all my Notifications Settings set to Notification List. That way I can just click the Notifications Bell (located upper right to the left of my user name over the small Search bubble in the blue bar) and a pop-up clickable list for my Notifications will appear. I scroll to the bottom of the pop-up box & click View all notifications. That way I have a full-page clickable list to work from on my laptop. Now that's how I work my notifications so I do not have to mess with a boat load of emails. But you do you! 🙂 Hope something in this reply will be helpful! 🤞 Happy sails, Host Kat
  5. @chengkp75 Any updates on your posts from waaaay back in 2014? The ball is in your court...
  6. Hello @alibabacruisers Please note the following from the Guidelines we all agreed to follow when registering for our free Cruise Critic memberships: "... Discussion of the management of this community is not allowed on the forums..." "... However, we would be happy to address any concerns you have via email. Please write to the Community Manager at: community@cruisecritic.com..." "... If you have any questions or comments regarding our posting guidelines or any content found on our message boards please be sure and let me know. I'll be happy to discuss them with you. LauraS Senior Manager, Community community@cruisecritic.com ..." Please send your email with your questions/comments/feedback to LauraS, Senior Manager, Community at community@cruisecritic.com. Also, please send the email from your Cruise Critic email address of record and be sure to mention your Cruise Critic user name. This is so your membership can be verified, and reply sent to your Cruise Critic email address of record. 7. @luckybecky Congratulations on finding most of the reviews! And most of all... thank you for your hard work! And yes, very old stuff does go bye-bye after a while by being purged. I am not aware of any recent purges. IIRC the last one was years and years ago. The Administrator will review your email when they can. I say "when they can" because all e-mails to Cruise Critic are answered in order of receipt. With 1.9 million members sending e-mails 24/7 from all over the world, please be patient for any action. Only the Administrator would know if there was some sort of software glitch that caused your situation. They have a much bigger access to the software than Hosts do and also work with the IT team. Regarding what Hosts can do, note the following from the Who are Community Hosts? The Community Manager? section in the Guidelines: "Our Community Hosts oversee specific forums. They generally have the ability to move and delete posts & threads, and perform other simple actions..." Please remember Hosts are non-paid volunteers that work the boards when their real life permits. Most paid Administrators work regular weekday business hours Monday thru Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. And yes, they do have vacation/sick days. Hang in there! Host Kat
  8. This is just a FYI for anyone interested... from our friend Google: Women and children first | National Army Museum (nam.ac.uk) To me it is a very interesting read about the incident, but for those short on time, just scroll down to the Birkinhead Drill section.
  9. Hello @bronweis! Thank you for your new thread on the Ask a Cruise Question forum! However, it is the forum for general questions regarding cruising. Your inquiry concerns cruise travel insurance and was off topic there. To help you out, your new thread has been moved to the Cruise/Travel Insurance forum where it will be on topic. The majority of your fellow Cruise Critic members that have cruise insurance questions frequent this forum and receive feedback here. Browse through the thread titles on this forum looking for threads of interest. You will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you. The Cruise Critic website and message boards are both great resources for new as well as experienced cruisers, and we are so glad you posted! 10. Hello @Donbar and welcome to the Cruise Critic message boards! The Cruise Critic website and the message boards are both great resources for new as well as experienced cruisers and we are so glad you found us! Please feel free to browse the message board categories list for our various forums. Click here Cruise Critic Community. I suggest you put the link in your browser's Favorites for quick and easy access in the future. Please read a few threads in the different forums to get a feel for what each forum is about. Make sure you read any pinned threads (aka Stickies) on the top of the first page of threads in most forums. You will find very important instructions or information there. In your case you will want to research our Ports of Call - Alaska forum. Please remember the following portion from the Guidelines we all agreed to follow when registering for our free Cruise Critic memberships: Browse Before You Post Browse a topic first to see if your question has already been asked or answered by someone else. Also, many of the major cruise lines forums have a FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) topic that has been created by our members. Give that a try first. Browsing is your #1 best resource! Please post your messages in an appropriate topic so that you'll receive the best possible response. It is very time consuming to move misplaced messages that are in the wrong topics. Anytime you need to start a new thread on a forum, first make sure you are in the correct forum for your topic. Word your new thread title in a way to help the members know exactly the information you seek. This greatly helps the members browsing through the thread titles and if they know the information, they will post a reply to you. Also, it is best to limit each inquiry to only one topic such as one cruise line, one ship, one port of call, etc. and of course, on the correct forum. You will get more replies that way. Be sure to mention your cruise line, ship, port or sail date in your message if that sort of information will help your fellow Cruise Critic members help you. Once you book your cruise, you need to find and post on the Cruise Critic Roll Call thread for your specific line, ship and sail date. That is where you will find fellow Cruise Critic members sailing with you! Please read What is a Roll Call? Everything you Need to Know and How To: Create A New Roll Call. For more information about our famous Roll Calls, please read the Roll Calls and Our Policy Regarding Facebook and Roll Calls sections in the Guidelines. We also have the following Cruise Critic article you might enjoy: 8 Reasons to Join a Cruise Critic Roll Call The specific Roll Call thread for your cruise is the ONLY place on the Cruise Critic message boards where you and your fellow Roll Call thread members are allowed to post personal ads about sharing private tours, excursions or transportation with each other to save money. There is a "captive audience" there since you are all sailing together! Your fellow Roll Call thread members may have important information posted in your Roll Call thread. Especially those that may have sailed your line, ship or itinerary before. Also, they may have already posted share requests that may interest you. Roll Calls are for people to get to know one another before their cruise. Therefore, there will be all kinds of discussion! Once you locate the Roll Call thread for your specific line, ship and sail date if one is already created, first read through the whole thread to get to know the other Cruise Critic members sailing with you. Then use the dark blue Reply to this topic button to join the Roll Call by posting an introductory post about yourself on the Roll Call thread. When done with your message, click the dark blue Submit Reply button. If you want to address a particular post already in the thread, be sure to use the Quote feature on that post as I did yours above. That way all will be aware of what your post concerns. You type your message UNDER the light blue quote box then click the dark blue Submit Reply button. If the member you quoted has used the Follow feature on the thread, they will get a notification that you have replied to their post. If a Roll Call thread for your specific line, ship & sail date has NOT been created, please feel free to create it! Just follow the directions in How To: Create A New Roll Call. Then sit back and wait for your fellow Cruise Critic members sailing with you to join in by posting on the thread. They will appreciate you starting the Roll Call! And don't worry about any responsibilities in starting a Roll Call thread. Roll Calls belong to everyone; there is no designated leader or owner. It does not matter who started the thread. If you ever need technical help in regard to using the Cruise Critic message board software, go to the Need Help Using the Forums? Check Here! forum. You will see a large amount of "How to..." pinned threads toward the top of the forum's first page. Also, browse through the threads in the forum looking for threads of interest. You will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you. So sorry this is so long, but I sincerely hope this will be helpful to someone new to posting on our message boards. We are glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic! Happy sails, Host Kat
  11. The Administrator will review your email when they can. I say "when they can" because all e-mails to Cruise Critic are answered in order of receipt. With currently 1.9 million international members sending e-mails 24/7 from all over the world, please be patient for any action. Also in this case, they may be investigating the current software to see if duplicate user name accounts can be merged. If not, they may be waiting for results from the IT team that may be trying to tweak the software. Just guessing here, but they may need to have that answer before they can answer you. Please remember Hosts/Moderators are non-paid volunteers that work the boards when their real life permits. Most paid Administrators work regular weekday business hours Monday thru Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and do have vacation and sick days. Hang in there! Host Kat

  13. Thank you for your kind words! I am sorry you feel "this issue is being hidden on this board". However, this IS the correct place for the issue. Please note the following appearing on the first page of this forum: Note: This area is intended only for questions and answers relating to technical assistance in using these message boards. Please do not post general cruise-related questions or Roll Calls here. This IS a technical issue regarding the message boards. The correct party has been notified with the tag. Also, please remember discussion of the management of this Community is not allowed on any of the boards. Please note the following from the Guidelines: "... LauraS Senior Manager, Community community@cruisecritic.com ..." Again, please feel free send your email with your questions/comments/feedback to LauraS, Senior Manager, Community at community@cruisecritic.com. Again, please send the email from your Cruise Critic email address of record and be sure to mention your Cruise Critic user name. Please remember the Hosts are non-paid volunteers and work the boards when their real life permits. Most Administrators work regular weekday business hours. Host Kat Edited to add: Note an oldie but goodie thread from 2023 on this forum regarding a previous pop up problem: What is with the annoying pop up?
