Ha - sounds familiar. I was actually included in case studies and medical journals when both of my lungs collapsed within a few days of each other my sophomore year of college. I got to spend a fun-filled month at the old Brackenridge hospital in Austin. That, plus one other strange issue and my current case pretty much fills up my medical file 🤷♂️. And Hook ‘em on the big win tonight! 🤘🐂🤘 -

Thanks Annie! Luckily, I have very few medical issues, but when I do, I always manage to stump my Dr’s. This has been a very long process to get to this point (first surgery was last August for what we thought was a herniated muscle in my lower back). 2 more surgeries (all out patient) later and turns out I have a squamous cell skin cancer that never surfaced and is/was in the muscle. PET yesterday showed a miniscule amount left that they probably couldn’t locate with surgery, so probably a few rounds of radiation in my future to be safe. If I’ve learned anything, you have to be diligent if you just know something is not feeling right. Hopefully your results will be good as well, but rest easy that the actual scan is nothing to worry about. Focus on your healing and recovery instead!- 102 replies

Annie - I started in a prep room with an IV while lying flat and they put the radioactive glucose in the IV. Once that was complete, they pulled the IV and I had to remain flat for about an hour while it worked it’s way through my body. It has no sensation like the contrast dye for an MRI. They actually turned the lights off in the room and I grabbed a quick nap. Then we went to the scan room and I was done 30 minutes later. -

Annie - ironically, I had my first (and hopefully last) PET scan yesterday. Being somewhat claustrophobic, I was slightly nervous, but I must say compared to an MRI, it was a breeze. The machine is much wider and not nearly as long as an MRI. They pretty much moved me through it feet first one time, then I just had to lay still for 25 minutes (which was easy since they kind of restrained my hands and feet). No noise at all. Hopefully yours will be the same and you get the same good results I received this morning 🤞- 102 replies

You do such a fantastic job of keeping this going and providing thoughtful responses to everyone, just keep doing what works best for you! And 3 months in to raising our now 7 month old terrier rescue pup, I hope for your DD and DSIL that it works out. It’s so fulfilling but also a full time job! Bailey says hi to the Daily. She graduates her six week beginner training tomorrow!

Welcome to the corn nut crown club (2 time member here)! My Dentist says corn nuts should be illegal, but if they were, it would put a damper on her vacation budget (she loves going to Grand Cayman as much as possible). After the second break, I’ve sworn off them for good. Good luck getting in to your Dentist ASAP!- 79 replies

Joy - much too late for yiur meal tonight but tuck this away for future. I use it for pork roast and would work well on chops. You’ll probably have extra and could freeze for future use. It’s really tasty and very easy (if you like cranberry) 1 can whole cranberries 1/3 cup chopped onion 3/4 cup orange juice 1/4 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp ground ginger Bring to boil and let cool. Start basting chops or pork loin about 1/2 way through cooking and use extra for side sauce. Enjoy!

Here in Dallas they use a salt brine spray on the overpasses when there’s a threat of ice. Pretty much the same thing you’d use to brine a turkey or chicken 🐓🤣- 77 replies

Sandi - had a busy weekend but briefly saw your question yesterday about driving to FLL and avoiding major traffic, tolls in the rental car, etc. If you haven’t heard of it, Waze is a great free app for road trips. It will constantly calculate your best route based on current traffic conditions, construction, accidents, etc. Plus you can choose a route with no tolls if that is your desire. I never take a road trip without using it now - I actually use it for anything but running errands close by with Dallas traffic and construction. You’ll occasionally get a very strange detour to avoid a major backup, but I’ve found it to be 100% reliable. Other app users (wazers) alert you to police, stalled cars on shoulder, etc. (even roadkill - lol). And if you’re the passenger, you can pass some time passing on those tips to other wazers. I’ve found it to be a game changer on road trips! Good luck on your drive! -

Thanks for thinking of us. All good here in Plano. About an inch and a half of rain and some wind, but our storms last month were actually worse. Northeast of here looks like they got the worst of it, but it sounds like no severe injuries or death luckily. Sure has cooled off very quickly and the drop in humidity is fantastic! -

The fact that he’s requesting dental floss (or demo falls) is a good sign! I’d be enjoying the reprieve from those mundane tasks 🤣 -

Excellent plan and glad things are falling in place. Many years ago when worry of black mold was a concern, one of my shower valves behind the travertine tile let loose like your toilet. Rather than break through the travertine, they went through the drywall in the living room. Fear of mold, insurance sent us to a hotel for a month. Hated to be away from home, but after seeing the construction mess, glad we weren’t there. Try to treat it as a small ‘vacation’! -

Stay vigilant with the insurance (sounds like you are without needing my 2 cents). They should definitely have you in a hotel, and it sounds like you’ll be comfortable with the contractor you’ve selected, so you won’t have to be overseeing every detail of the repairs yourself (and hopefully won’t impact your planned upcoming travel 🙏). You just need to weather this initial ‘storm’. -

Great news about I-35 in Waco. We only made the drive down once last year and what a mess it was going through there. But I’m sure they’ll start working on another area soon. I’ve been making that drive for 35+ years and there’s always construction. I always joke with friends that as many times as Hillsboro has been torn up and expanded over the years, somebody at TXDOT must think it’s going to be the next Dallas or Houston! 🤣 -

Happy Anniversary Lenda and Hook ‘em Horns! We’ll be driving down to Austin tomorrow morning for the game and hoping the sporadic rain showers take the day off! And of course the required stop for kolaches not far from you in West on the way home Sunday. 🤘🐂🤘- 102 replies
