  1. We did set it up ahead of time, my wife is very impressed with the app compared to X and HAL, and my wife verified when she called this week because they applied it to both of us. It is just a learning experience with each line I sail. Thanks for the info.
  2. Somewhere on here I saw it mentioned that people with food allergies should report to one of the main dining rooms when they board the ship. Is this just to confirm the allergy, or do they allow you to peorder that nights meal, I am gluten free? Or is this not needed at all? It would be nice to be able to preorder the first nights meal to make the first service go smoother for the 3 non GF people in our group.
  3. Is that Port everglades with the tug? I have never heard of that happening before.
  4. How was St Thomas being the only ship in port? We were going to stay on the ship because it has always been ridiculously crowded on shore. Then we found out like you we will be the only ship in that day. Will be nice to hopefully take a casual stroll downtown.
  5. I am curious how the entertainment is onboard, between the main stage and around the ship. This will be our first Princess cruise and not sure what to expect. Last year on our first HAL cruise we were quite disappointed with the entertainment aspect of that trip, but still had an amazing cruise.
  6. Following as we are sailing on Emerald soon on our first Princess cruise. Have a great trip
  7. Will see on that after this cruise. This is our first Princess cruise and for me how they handle gluten free will tell a lot, along with the entertainment and stuff. We are in the try out other lines of our cruising journey now instead of sticking with one line. It's nice to have options.
  8. Over the years I have collected and saved the keycards from our cruises and have been storing them in a business card file thing. Since we have the medallion now, will guest services print me a card with the cruise date, etc to keep as a memento?
  9. While this thread is amusing, we have so far only sailed other lines, but admit to being bummed when they changed from Grassland salted butter, a local WI product, to other brands of butter, just wasn't the same. We will see what we get when we sail on the Emerald for our first Princess cruise. While it is small potatoes, real butter does add a little something something.
  10. So reading this I am trying to figure out if we board early, hotel transfers always get us to port early, can we get into the room right away to drop off our carry on? Celebrity is set up to do this and it is great. This will be our first time on Princess.
  11. New to Princess and have sailed on Celebrity, Hal, and Royal within the last 4 years, Disney seems like a lifetime ago. Curious what to expect and if there are any must do items or see items on Princess ships. Also take any tips and tricks as well. We generally are chill people onboard. Don't do the drink package, and may have 3ish drinks on a trip. Not big into the night time scene other than seeing a show or comedian. We use cruises to unwind and relax and not think about work. We will do some activities, like trivia and we did a board game that was kind of like an escape room challenge. I think what we have found is that once we left Disney a lot of the activities we did centered around our daughter, and we have progressively done less and less activities, partly because not as many seem to be offered for adults.
  12. So we booked on the Emerald princess, and am seeing conflicting information on this when researching online especially with the lotus spa pool. Second question, is what type of pool is the lotus spa pool? Celebrity had a warm water pool in the solarium on a ship we sailed on, thelosotherepy pool (spelling is probably wrong), that was amazing. If this is that type of pool, if they have a weekly pass it may be worth it to us.
  13. Sounds like food cutbacks, was not great on our last Edge cruise in February 23, and the butler thing I guess, I could care less about that one. That said we were looking to book a last minute trip this spring and at the prices X has I am guessing they are sailing pretty full. We are looking at other lines. I guess the 3 hours doesn’t bother me, but I realize that opinion won’t be shared by all.
  14. Under 600 on the Connie was amazing and I didn’t see a kid all week. We practically lived in the T pool.
  15. Well the ones that declared it adult only, are the ones that have decided to make the provision for kids to use the pool for a time. So in theory that should be ok right? The ageism post is just rude, and that post should be pulled. As I stated before parents on Disney complained as well when they were trying to get some quiet time too.
  16. The Disney reference cracks me up, because there were conversations like this on the Disney board I was on, because of the parents that would insist on bringing their child with them into the adult only area.
  17. So, what is the issue, choices below? This may be different answers for everyone. 1. Kids should not be allowed in the solarium pool area at all? 2. The times Celebrity chose are not good times, perhaps shift later? 3. Parents bringing there kids into the solarium at any time of the day and the staff allowing it?
  18. So we generally eat an early dinner and when we have gone into the solarium after dinner, it is essentially a ghost town, and later at night it truly is and we have the pool to ourselves. Kids being in the pools outside of the specified hours is definitely and issue, no doubt, but I think Celebrity chose hours that would impact guests the least. How many people on here truly are in that pool between 4 and 7 pm? Maybe they should just do 6 to 9, which would bother even less people based on our experiences. Maybe 4 is too early? This is really more about not having kids at all on Celebrity. Yes on Disney we have seen lots of entitled parents, but if I am being honest we have seen more entitlement on X than any other line. It is still a small percentage, but it is there. Most folks though are super friendly:)
  19. We are 50 and 47, and have 4 Celebrity cruises now and will be eligible to get our free drinks every night soon enough, but the above has us looking at other options. Also seeing that other lines do Gluten Free potentially as well as Celebrity, including Carnival which shocked me, we are back to being free agents. That said the elite happy hour would be a great perk for us since we like the occasional drink, but never enough to justify a drink package. We did sail HAL last year, and it was only ok for us. Ship was awsome, Gluten Free (MDR Great - rest less than ideal), and the main theatre entertainment was awful, only shows we have walked out of. We would sail again depending on the itinerary or a great last minute deal, just not a first choice.
  20. We have sailed Disney and Royal along with Celebrity and Hal and have never seen that before. Not saying it doesn't happen, but I guess someone in the pool wants a desert, they just head into the buffet, not thinking of how they are dressed. Kind of an issue with how the buffets are always right off the pool deck, it is surprising it doesn't happen all of the time, especially on the family friendly lines. We were somewhat guilty of this on our last trip on the Edge. We were on at the height of the food cutbacks and after a swim in the solarium pool, my wife decided to check out how bad the buffet was. I did second guess the decision, but like a good husband went with. We walked around the few offerings they had (being gluten free it wasn't and option for me, and she did grab a desert on the way out, did not eat it in the buffet area. I did have swim trunks and a tshirt on and she had a swimsuit and coverup on. The intent was scoping out the buffet to report back on our trip report, but we probably broke some rules just walking in there.
  21. Used to get my Polos at Kohls for less the 5$ on sale, name brands, and now that we shop Costco, many of my evening chic work outfits run under 20$ total for pants, shoes, shirt, and maybe even throw in the socks at that price. I get going to places like goodwill, but you can get great deals on new clothes at stores as long as you don't mind shopping the clearance aisle. That said during the colder months, I will wear a company gift hoodie to stay warm as our offices are in a pole building, so always drafty. So if they gift them to us, they are ok with hoodies at work:)
  22. They should be dealt with of course. I was speaking only of part of the situation where some would be more comfortable on Cunard, unless they have relaxed their dress code. Have seen comments like the slobs have one lol.
  23. What kills me is the group that calls out people that meet the current policy for not being dressy enough in their eyes. They should be complaining to Celebrity and not calling out people that are following the rules. Makes no sense to me lol
  24. We are looking at cruises likely on either the Sunshine or the Mardi Gras for sure, but we may end up on another ship, who knows as we are still planning. We have seen some examples of the new gluten free menus online and they actually looked pretty good. Has anyone eaten off these menus, and do you feel like you have ever been glutened on Carnival? We have been enjoying Celebrity and how they handle the buffet with items labeled gluten free. We saw some buffet reviews on the Mardi Gras and they also had the buffet dishes labeled as gluten free. Is this a fleetwide thing or just on ships like the Mardi Gras? Really hoping that they do gluten free well. Finally decided to give Carnival a try.
  25. Wondering if all, or which M class ships have the T-Pool?
