  1. We will be there one day on a cruise 7-2 pm. We are very active and love to explore on foot. I have printed a map but there is no scale. I'm also not sure where royal docks. Does anyone know how long to walk to the 2 forts and other must see things along the way? Also any unsafe areas to avoid? Thanks everyone

  2. We usually leave our car at a hotel that allows it and shuttles us. This time we want to park at the port. Looks like you can drop off your bags before you park but what about after the cruise? Is there somewhere my husband could bring the car to me and our bags at the curb so we don't have to handle dragging them to parking? Is this the dreaded taxi area that is so bad there or is there somewhere else ? Thanks

  3. We need a hotel near the Miami port to stay the night before a cruise, nothing fancy just clean and safe and either a shuttle or close enough for a taxi to be reasonable. We will get there late and leave early so don't need any amenities. Thanks everyone

  4. I was 15 and dated a boy that had graduated, he turned 18 a few weeks after we started dating. I was told not to see him so I did it anyway sneaking around and eventually running away and getting married. We have been happily married 26 years. Nothing would have kept us apart. When our kids became teenagers we knew to never say never and negotiate what we could live with and not push stuff underground. Kids will find a way around you if you won't work with them.

  5. We went on Equinox couple of years ago and said wow great entertainment. Went on constellation in Europe b2b and it was severely lacking. We thought must be better in the newer ships and went on Eclipse this last November and it was the worst yet. Really disappointing. Probably back to Royal for us.

  6. Our daughter had just turned 18 (and she looked 15) and they said no. She begged as her brother was in teen club and they said no exceptions they check their ages. It was a rough and she felt left out. if I had known we would have gone a month earlier. They didn't have any 18-20 activities on our cruise we asked. I would take a friend along if at all possible.

  7. We cruise celebrity often my husband does not like to dress up. He wears casual pants and short sleeve button shirts most nights and formal night black slacks and long sleeve dress shirt, sometimes with a tie sometimes not. It's never been a problem. He blends in just fine. Skip the shorts and you will be fine there will be everything from tux to tshirts.

  8. If you are paying to park your car during the cruise (not dropping off a rental) you can usually stay at a hotel that offers free parking during your cruise, a free shuttle to the port and breakfast and spend less than the parking fee. We live near Orlando and if we are going out of Miami drive the night before. No risk and feels like a little more vacation.

  9. I agree you won't see him much or at all unless you require it. Also agree don't wait until he's 18. Our last family cruise our son was 14 and daughter just had turned 18. She couldn't do anything with the 17 year olds (and she begged them) and there is no night life until 21. She really felt left out didn't want to hang out with us and her brother was always gone. It's hard for them to make friends without that teen schedule in the first couple days

  10. Yes on celebrity you can it's just not advertised anywhere it's an amazing perk after a long day of touring. We have traveled with our kids when they were the ages of yours and older. It was crowded but we just piled on the bed ordered room service and everyone shared everything, great memories. Now when our daughter became a teenager it was much harder all the clothes and bathroom hogging and we changed to us in a balcony and putting them across the hall in an inside room or got the cheapest connecting rooms. If you don't want to be crowded to eat just run to the buffet and everyone can eat and leave the mess behind

  11. There is always a buffet and room service and you can also order from the dining room menu to your room during dinner hours. You will be too busy on port days to do much more than eat and sleep and won't be in the room that much. Enjoy this amazing trip it will be awesome even if kids club is lacking (it will be slow on that cruise as most kids don't get to go to Europe on celebrity - lucky yours) take cards or small games for them and there are usually kids movies on the tv.

  12. Just did it last month and loved it. Power boat ride was fast and fun, kayak was easy and the perfect amount of time. Then we went to a small private island and hiked to the top for great views. After the hike you could stay on the beach and swim, relax or go out for a short snorkel via boats. We skipped the snorkeling as it was raining and the water wasn't very clear. After they returned us to the starting location where they had snacks and drinks in a gorgeous lush garden,

  13. I email the company and ask for the measurement of the waist harness along with the weight requirement. My husband is usually ok with weight but sometimes the harness is 34" and sometimes even huge up to 40". We learned this the hard way when he couldn't do it one time. If in doubt don't sign up it will ruin your day. You won't have time to do something else and it's embarrassing for the person turned away.

  14. We are the same in our 40's and our kids are almost out of the house. We cruise celebrity and royal often. When looking to just relax and be pampered we choose celebrity as we can entertain ourselves. Also only celebrity when in Europe as so port intensive just need a great "hotel".

If we are looking to have an active vacation we choose royal. They have quest, love and marriage show, comedians, active night clubs.

Celebrity has more speakers, trombone players, singers etc. Our last celebrity cruise a movie we went to was the only "show" we laughed at the whole cruise. Also we are usually some of the youngest on celebrity.

Enjoy your cruise we've never had a bad one
