  1. As another poster mentioned you can add cruise cash to your account before you sail to if you like to know you have money "in the bank" when you get on. I am pretty sure there is a $500 maximum. However, if you don't use it you will lose it, so don't apply anymore than you plan to use. I will say one cruise last Fall I went down the last full day at sea in the afternoon on the cruise to put cash on my account (so my credit card would not be charged) and they told me the bill was 0 it had already been settled to my card. In the past I thought it wasn't until the day you got off, but this was the day before we got off.... so I thought that was kind of odd. I ended up with 2 charges, though both were small (as I apply cash or gift cards "as I go" most times all throughout the cruise). The one they had charged the last day at sea, and then like $5 on something I charged late that last night.
  2. Ah ya, that one would certainly be a "yes" please. For YEARS of sailing, probably 35+ cruises we never had one upgrade offer. In the last few years we started getting them here or there, but usually they aren't that great of a deal so we pass. I have taken one or two though.
  3. I would be inclined to just deal with it now and take the guess work out of the equation. You should be able to switch it to your son and the other guest alone. May involve cost, but you are certain no issues this way. I would start by calling and asking "what if" the girlfriend can't make it and we switch it to just the other two guests with your son as primary. See what the answer is, and then when they quote you a price you can then say OK let's do it then - if you are sure she is not coming.
  4. Concur with this. Jamaica can be a little sketchy. We do both, ship based and on our own. The on our own ones though usually depend on how safe we feel the port/country is. Also, we make sure that we have a huge window of time to make it back to ship. We have price compared and sometimes the ships price is higher, but not always. It can be comparable.
  5. If you don't cruise until June you should be able to add, and then pay yourself. Just go into Booking Order Details, View Invoice Details (yours should said Paid in Full next to it if it is paid off)... once you click on the invoice the gratuities (as well as insurance) will show - underneath it should say "add". Just click on that under gratuities. When you do this it will add them and you will have a new balance for that amount, you can then just click to make a payment.
  6. Should not be an issue. You are fine. Showing up EARLY is a bigger issue. Several cruises I have been on now since restart they just were checking if people had boarding passes and waving them through regardless of their boarding time. Others, they were much more strict and turning people away. Also, as a side note, if you still don't sail for a couple days, you can go back in and try to change your time to a later one and just reprint your boarding passes. That would free up an earlier time for someone else that might want it.
  7. If you have a PVP, yes most certainly use them - but I personally always like to have the room(s) I want selected BEFORE I call them, because I am particular in where I want to be and more importantly not be. So I research it before I call so I KNOW what I am getting. Watch for things like what is above you, below you, next to you, etc. to determine noise factors (ended up with camp carnival over us one night and spent the hours of 11pm -2am with it sounding like they were coming through the ceiling with stomping, jumping, all kinds of noise). Forward versus middle or aft of ship (we don't do the aft because almost always vibration). How close to elevators stairwells, common areas, etc. are you (on a high deck once, but middle of the ship not far off main wide open area that went all the way down to lobby so all the lobby noise, music, etc. traveled right to our door - even like 8 floors up) Something as innocuous as being close to (above/below) the kitchen areas can result in dealing with food smells all cruise you don't like (swear one time we were right over where the ALWAYS cooked the onions and garlic lol!) Starboard or Port side, we opt for balconies on port side because the majority of the time that is the side you can see port on when you are docked (not always, but more than not). I book multiple rooms all the time for multiple people when family travel with us. The easiest thing I do is first look for the room I want. I go in like I am going to book the room, and I look for a Balcony on a higher deck. I will take note of what rooms come up as available on that floor in the area I want to be in (usually it will show you multiple rooms available if you are far enough out on the cruise date). Then I just back up to select room type again and in your case switch to "inside" room and then select the deck your balcony was on, forward middle or aft (which every you picked), and then see what inside rooms might be close to the balconies you saw available. You can play with decks and locations this way and see what you like best. Then you can go actually book the two rooms.
  8. Yes, I would guess it is due to the number of people. I see a lot of sailings with open balconies when I look for 2. It may be possible that you will need to look at 2 cabins (1 balcony and 1 inside - like directly across the hall). This would be the most economical way to accommodate that many people and still get a balcony room.
  9. I SWEAR by sea bands. I used to have to take the pills and then my husband found these for me to try. I get motion sickness in the back seat of a car I am so bad. The SEA BANDS work AWESOME! Best part is there are no side effects. You can wear them only when you need them, and they work within just a few minutes of putting them on. So unlike sea sickness medicine that you either have to keep taking nonstop - or take it when you feel bad and then have to wait 20 minutes for it to kick in and hope you don't puke it back up by then, the bands work right away. Any motion sickness medicine, even non drowsy always made me out of it, and sleepy. You can find them in a lot of stores like Rite Aid, I have seen them in the airport shops, and of course there is always Amazon. They are pretty cheap. Use 3 finger widths measurement up from the base of your hand and place the little nubby right on that vein that protrudes when you bend your wrist back for perfect placement.
  10. I would go with the 4J forward. We avoid the back of the ship at all costs. There is always more vibration in the rear of the ship... some shutter all the way to the top decks so bad you can watch your beverage vibrating in ripples.
  11. Not really trying to pull any trick... just feel foolish (50+ year old) asking for a "Shirley Temple" lol! That and I mostly get the Cranberry and Sierra Mist or the Pineapple/Sierra Mist with shot of Cherry and no other way to order those then to spell it out.😉
  12. Nope, wasn't gift cards. I had used one already for a Pedi. I used the balance of that one and I had to use a 2nd for the remaining steak house amount, which I have subsequently used the rest of to book Cucina, Water and both worked fine. With you using OBC it isn't "really" deducted until you get on board so may not have registered as a true glitch yet. I would not be surprised if something comes up in the pricing when you board 😊
  13. I don't agree. I get them with my bottomless bubbles all the time 🙃 I just ask for Sprite (which I know isn't Sprite actually, but can't remember which one they use lol) with a shot of cherry in it. Another good one is sprite and Cranberry Sprite and Pineapple juice And the best - Sprite, Pineapple juice, with a shot of cherry in it. 50+ old that doesn't drink alcohol very much lol
  14. SO VERY SAD! I had the BEST PVP for the last 8-10 years. He was amazing. He helped with so many things, and often could get things "waived" that we might otherwise be charged for. He helped tremendously through the 2 years of Covid with rebookings over and over, etc. He GOT PROMOTED! He is now in charge of training and managing a large group of PVPs. I am so very, very sad!!! He gave me a couple names of people to try, but neither of them are anywhere near as good as he was and soured me. Decided to go back to the old way and just do it myself. I have taken advantage of the Diamond desk a time or two for help in the last 6 months though since I don't have a PVP. And so far that has worked out pretty well.
  15. On Panorama sailing May 19th. 1st day at sea 2nd day at sea 3rd day Puerto 4th day Mazatlan 5th day Cabo 6th day at sea Hubby's Bday is during this cruise and I am trying to coordinate that along with formal nights, and decide on when to book specialty dinners. Does anyone know 1st hand which 2 days will be the formal nights?
  16. Ya, so just a heads up. I literally just brought this to the attention of the technical department for our cruise in May... same thing as your says $48, at check out $42. Came over here to post and say this thread so figured I'd post here instead of starting a new one. BE ADVISED!!! I would not do it!!! Last night I bought the steakhouse with gift cards and it processed it and debited my gift card for the $84 but didn't send a confirmation and gave me an error message. Spent 2 hours on the phone over 2 days for them to tell me they don't know why but the system booked and immediately canceled it. So now I have to wait for them to mail me my refund gift card for $84 back! I went in today to go buy it again, and noticed that there was the price difference at check out versus the first page saying $48, called and they said yep we have a problem! I guarantee that is why it booked and immediately cancelled on me last night. (I didn't see the price difference last night, just saw it today when I tried to buy again). If you check out at the wrong rate be prepared to have the same problem with whatever form of payment you use.
  17. Yea, we looked, but from Michigan for us it was WAY more pricey!
  18. Thanks for the advice all! I am switching to a hotel in Long Beach for the night instead (and decided instead of Uber which I read can be $50-$100, just going to set up a car for $95 to take us from LAX to hotel). edspec funny thing is already was looking at that Residence Inn and planned on booking it so good choice I guess 🤪 I am SO going to see if we can stay on the Queen Mary though... I would LOVE that. I will have to watch and see if it opens up for bookings!
  19. You know, I did contemplate that. We do arrive late in the evening. 9:30pm ish LAX time, but I thought about just taking an Uber to Long Beach area and spending the night in the hotel there to avoid the chaos in the morning. So this begs the question do we do that late in the evening on a Friday night, or do we just sleep by the airport and take the Uber in the morning on a Saturday. Which would be better and "lighter" traffic. Anyone in the area have an idea?
  20. FOUND it, it is under the specialty dinning. I was looking under excursions. DUH!
  21. Thank you! Any idea on the "how" you book the cooking class?
  22. So we have done it... we finally booked our first (in almost 50!) West Coast Cruise! Will be sailing on her in May and can't wait. I made sure to book our air the day before (since we are in Michigan and have a long way to go), and will also be staying by LAX the night we disembark and fly home the next day (just so we didn't run into any issues). Also, made arrangements to do a day tour of LA area for the day we disembark since we have never been in this area. Had a couple questions. Having mostly always said from a Florida port (Baltimore and Nola once or twice), anything special I need to be aware of that might be different for this this sailing/ship? I did plan on taking an Uber from our LAX hotel to the port as this seems to be the best way? I planned to allot about 45 minutes for the drive (even though I know it is only like 23 miles, but I read traffic can be bad) Any better options (that aren't shared)? Also, anything different to expect right at the Port in her boarding procedures? Or business as usual. The only new thing I see on her that I haven't seen on some of the ships I have been on is the possible cooking classes, which sounds interesting to me. I know these were shut down over Covid, are they back up and running and how do you book one? Any insight is greatly appreciated.
  23. Thanks All, yes the 19th sailing! SEE you on board !😁
