  1. On Splendor, there were 3 rolling book carts around with books & games. Usually near Java, Red Frog & the karaoke bar near the Morocco lounge.
  2. The “problem” is the VERY good specialty dining. Eden is AMAZING (have done it on all but Ascent) & Le Voyage on Beyond (& Ascent) also fantastic! We did Petite & Roofop on Equinox, they were fine. But I’ve heard rooftop on Eclass is Very good too! Plus Chefs Table (AMAZING), dinner on the Edge (more experience than memorable food…not that exciting for me) Thing is, MDR is terrific on Eclass too!! We have a hard time justifying eating specialty dining…but it’s SO good, we still usually do!!
  3. Enjoying this. BIL & SIL boarded the Sun in Barcelona. She has sent me a few pics--the rooms are lovely! Sounds like you had a great time!!
  4. ALL good choices! There may have been a few beers imbibed as well.😎
  5. We had no issues on the Equinox, but have seen people frustrated on Eclass ships (have done 5 sailings the last 3 years of Eclass) with the inability to get reservations when/where they wanted.
  6. Our friends said Bruges was a lovely town to just walk around & enjoy the architecture.
  7. While rare in UK, can happen anywhere. That's why I use a crossbody when traveling, or put it in a deep interior pocket if I have my backpack. Likely someone observed her get it out to pay for something & then saw which pocket she put it in.
  8. WAY better stop! Bruges is lovely while we find Le Havre a bit "meh" Regarding laudry--yes you must buy token from the machine w/ your Medalliion. (It is tricky...) $3/load for each washer & dryer to buy. I HIGHLY recommend Arm & Hammer washer sheets. I bring a few of these & a few dryer sheets. They take up no room & keep my suitcase fresh. (DO NOT put near any food or meds...the smell will permeate them!) We just toss our laundry in our carry on, roll it down & then toss it all in to fold it back at the room when done. PS DO NOT open dryer after you start it. I did this to get a sock that landed on the floor. Unbeknownst to me, the dryer did NOT start again, even tho I pushed start & thought I heard it. When I checked 45 min later--still wet! UGH. Had to get another token & come back later...
  9. Dining packages can only book once onboard, as stated in the description From the website: "Purchasing this package secures the package price, but the restaurant reservation time and venue must be made onboard" This is one reason we don't do dining packages, for fear we will get times we don't want or unable to get all the restaurants we want. Even suite guests must wait, as the concierge stated. If you bought meals individually, THESE may be booked ahead of time. I suppose they figure u must pay more to book ahead.
  10. Final payment has been made. No price change will happen regarding fare. Their port taxes & fee will be returned if they do not show. Sounds as if tips will be as well? (if they went all-inclusive)
  11. I realize these are Celebrity excursions, but many posters here have not done Celebrity Med. I recommend posting under Ports of Call: Europe: Med. That being said, having sailed the Med, tours that say they are ending in Fira means you are going to be taking the cable car or the steps down,
  12. No...you are given a cable car voucher & return when you choose to.
  13. Tour was about 3-4 hours I think. The link shows where we stopped. It is very scenic--very different than the rest of Scotland! Our tour guide was FANTASTIC too. https://www.orkney.com/listings/open-top-bus Odd...this one claims to be the same bus, but says they go to Skara Brae, which we did not. https://www.greatscenicjourneys.co.uk/journey/t11-orkney-tour/
  14. I AGREE. Had King Crab at Tracey's for $85 for 2-4 legs (clearly it's weight). It was good. (bizarre in late Sept tho--they only had a handful of shell crackers for ALL customers to share. Sadly I think people toss them & they had few at the end of the season. But they guarded them with their life! They did NOT offer them...had to ask. Not sure how they thought we would open those tough shells...) Then had dungeness at Crab House in Hoonah (Icy Strait Point)--OMG SO much sweeter & flavorful!!
  15. If you take https://www.invergordon-bustours.com/, Tour 2, it will get you Loch Ness & Highlands. You aren't going to be cruising Loch Ness--it's a 15 min. photo op (on most tours). I did this tour last May & this April. Here is a link for Loch Ness cruises https://www.cruiselochness.com/ BUT you would have to get transportation to where they sail from. Not sure of the logistics. Glasgow & Edinburgh are both great cities to walk around in, especially if you want to hit a pub!
  16. No pub restaurant. Casual dining is Alfredos, the sushi place & Vines (charcuterie board is your only choice) Sometimes there was scenery, sometimes not--we just go up on deck to see it if we don't have a balcony. There are no sofas in the regular balconies--only the deluxe ones. You might look at making a low ball bid on a balcony--I've had very good luck on Princess the last 2 years with Move Up bids (and I make low ball bids) It MIGHT be warm enough for pools, but don't bet on it. But will be lovely spa tub weather!
  17. Eden. Nothing else compares on the Edge.
  18. I think you will be fine--you already have some activities planned! I understand a Viking voyage is more relaxed than mainstream lines. But that can depend on what one wants to do, to be sure. We sailed in early April & was amazed how lovely it was outside--I think it was 60s every day (well, across & whilst at 2 Portugal ports), so you could be outside unless it was windy. Hopefully you will see nice weather as well--but plan for ANY weather!
  19. Actually, now that you mention it, I think that is how I got it for our Beyond cruise. Less than I paid for 1 person upgrade onboard. We are fine with tap or regular bottled water (no need for Evian for us). DH ONLY drinks beer & frozen drinks--there is NO value in the upgrade for him. But I hate the wine choices under $10 & I do enjoy trying interesting cocktails. (and they will make nearly any martini in a small glass under the regular package) No way I'm upcharging $30/day. Honestly I've wondered if I even upcharge $15...
  20. In December I was able to upgrade just me on the Beyond. Oh, well, worth an ask. I can certainly pay the upcharge on each drink that has one...will certainly be cheaper than both of us upgrading. Thanks!
  21. We a fans of sea days, so looked forward to 7 sea days in a row (then we stopped at Azores, Lisbon, Bilbao & Cherbourg). We do love trivia & playing card games, so enjoyed those. Traveled with friends so had many more card game choices than when it is just DH & I. We walked daily. There were many activity offerings each day, but if we weren't playing cards, I tucked myself in a corner & read. I do this A LOT when I am cruising solo. But I must not have nearly as much as I only finished 2 or 3 books. I also download a number of movies & shows to my iPad prior to sailing to watch if the mood strikes. Days a much like at home for us--some physical activity, reading or TV, maybe a load of laundry, lol. The card games are more just for cruising, so a nice addition. Evenings there is so much to do; luckily we prefer dinner early so we can catch shows, trivias, gameshows, musicians. If you prefer a port-intensive cruise, you might not care much for a transatlantic.
  22. We just did 28 days aboard the Regal Princess--16 days TA plus 12 days UK. LOVED it! Now I'm trying to convince DH we should do the TP (RT) 54 day cruise in spring of 2026. It's funny he balked at the 15 hour flight to SYD to see AUST & NZ...but now he's balking over 54 days. Not me...I'm in!
