  1. SIL & BIL were on the Sun last week. She loved how new it is, said the music played throughout the ship was great. I will see them tonight & ask them for more detail & report back. I find several of these things Princess issues & not Sun issues--particularly lacking production shows, smoky casinos & running out of things. Slow service--everywhere? All the time? Lack of seating--we find this in various venues at various times on all ships when fairly full Most of the other things don't affect me.
  2. It was so bad we only gambled in the NS area. It was occasionally noticeable on the floors above & below along the staircase. A travel companion found it intolerable...we just didn't hang out in the areas where it might be smoky. Has there been any improvement?
  3. Looking forward to more of your TR--we have the Magic booked for March. Interesting you found the Allure not that great...we loved it, tho that was nearly 15 years ago. MSC Divina--yep, I feel you.
  4. OK we have a comped interior room & was just offered an upgrade to an interior spa room for $160 for an 8 day cruise on the Magic in the Caribbean. Is this worth it? Honestly I have only headed into any spa for a rare massage or nails done; I have not used any other facilities.
  5. We booked a cruise for Dec 2024 that we are thinking we need to push to Dec 2025. It is a non-refundable deposit. Would we be able to change this reservation with the $200 change fee? ($100pp) Thanks!
  6. OK we had a room that had this--I wouldn't really call it obstructed as it was on the side. We are trying to coordinate this cruise with 2 couples, one of which we do not know personally. That couple is concerned that ALL Oceanview rooms are obstructed with the slide & will be noisy. (we heard no noise, and it was a balcony) (I can find nothing on any internet sources, reliable or not, to support this). Can anyone give me more information to share with this couple. (they are high maintenance it seems; they nixed Getaway due to the smoke from the casino wafting...um, let's just avoid the areas where it wafts?)
  7. We sailed NCL out of NO in 2019. Embarkation was a HOT MESS... Is it always like that? Hoping it was a one off...
  8. Gotcha...thought I might have missed something! I do like the openness it had on the Edge, but honestly it's pointless, IMO. It's a short walk around the wall to Craft & it is nice to have viewing for sports.
  9. They show it as "Sunset" bar on the deck plan now & on the list of descriptions. I don't really care if they changed the name--does it still have the whiskey menu? Thx!
  10. Yes, as soon as you board, go to Crown Grill & visit with them. They menu looks GF overall (I am sensitive so I am hyperaware as well) BUT sometimes there might be flour or something you aren't aware of, particularly in sauces. But salads & proteins are nearly always a safe bet. All their sides look pretty GF (creamed spinach probably not) & the desserts are labeled. (apple rhubarb cobbler & key lime bar are GF; I'm sure they could get ice cream as well). Princess is WONDERFUL w/ GF. There may be a few items they cannot make GF on the fly, but there will be several choices for DM. Have fun!
  11. I buy these so I never have to worry about plug issues. JUST enough light, small & very lightweight to pack. ($4 for a 12 pack)
  12. Now we didn't sail until 2021. Craft Social was open to casino on Edge. Sailed Apex March 2022 & Craft Social wasn't open to the casino. Are you saying it WAS open on originally on the Apex? (not open on Beyond either). Or that they have closed it on the Edge? It is still the "casino bar" based on proximity--it is the bar the casino servers go to.
  13. Yep, forgot about that. Hope OP realizes that! Well, MIA port is a mess but flying into FLL or MIA is easy & both ports very accessible.
  14. I asked a similar question awhile back as we have Magic booked for March. I had read reviews that weren't exciting--tho I look for patterns in complaints & they were all over the board. So that's a good thing, actually. But overall here people had few complaints. Seems complainers are more likely to write a review. We did our 1st Carnival last year after 25+ cruises on most other mainstream lines & were told we would hate it. We did NOT--we enjoyed it just as much as our other cruises! NOW our bartenders said the key to Carnival is to avoid short cruises--they tend to be "booze" cruises. 1st time cruisers have nothing to compare to, so your response will set the stage for them. Plan to have a good time & you most likely will! And sailing from FLL is SO SO much easier than MCO--MCO is a PAIN since the airport is an hour inland.
  15. I second Los Lobos. I gave DH the 1st pick for our specialty dining & he chose this. I balked--LOTS of great MX at home. OMG it is one of the top 3 meals we have ever had on a ship!! We also did Cagneys which was great (as always) & Onda (it was good, if unmemorable). We also skipped Palomar after lots of mediocre reviews.
  16. There is no BAD time, imo. Do you prefer to eat early or late? That is usually our driving force. We prefer an early dinner to enjoy all the evening festivities after & we do enjoy the aft view as well.
  17. More cruises are NEVER wrong! I'm a big fan of B2B...well, any cruise actually!
  18. OK this was a "Book Later" booked in 2023. I was under the impression if we did not book with it, they would refund our $200.
  19. To maximize benefits… Can I book thru TA & once it hits Celebrity’s system, I get my OBC (hmmm what about the deposit?) Or do I book thru Celebrity & transfer to TA after? What if TA price is better?
  20. It looks amazing...my friend who sailed with us is interested but our husbands think it's too long (they struggled with "it's a marathon not a sprint" aspect of drinking over 28 days...lol). Could be just the girls!
  21. You don't have to work that hard. You can put it in, play a little & cash out. Unnecessary to play it down.
  22. @VP757 Thanks for the great review! Our kids sailed Celebrity when they were 15-17-20 & had as much fun on it as Disney at 5-7-10 (as well as RCCL & Princess inbetween & after as well). Sometimes kids/teen club was a fit, sometimes it wasn't, but luckily like your kiddos, they mostly like to do what we do. I agree that Celebrity production shows are "meh" as are Carnival (and Princess). EXCEPT Eclass ships (Apex, Edge, Ascent & Beyond)--those are AMAZING, right up there w/ RCCL & NCL top shows. I am sad that the menus have become more limited. I think you put it well--the food we order is good, but sometimes I struggle with what to order. We spent a month on the Regal Princess in April & the menus & food were AMAZING--it was quite a comparison.
  23. Yep. Carnival too--steel ceiling, 4 walls...about the same but Eclass is still nicer!!
  24. Porthole, SV & suites. That's it. SV are wonderful--huge balconies, very traditional. Did love our SV on the Edge. Porthole--have not stayed in one but saw one on a cabin crawl. Not for us. VERY narrow balcony. The one we saw, you would not be able to turn the chairs toward balcony while sitting in them. I have had people say they could...perhaps they aren't a tall as us! Suites are great...but one & done for us unless we find an amazing deal. I'd rather sail more often. (amazing how many replies you have gotten in 4 hrs!!)
  25. It is only about a 15 min. train or bus ride from Zeebrugge to Bruges
