Google Galveston Shuttle service and see what turns up.
Also, I heard from friends of mine that just got off the ship there were quite a few postings on the community bulletin board with empty seats on privately arranged transport to the airport. Those are usually around $25 pp.
Tucker in Texas
Excuse my ignorance but what is the community bulletin board ? In case we so fly in. Thanks

Jamie - Thank you for alerting me to potential transportation issues. We had booked transportation through the cruise line, but fly in the night before. After reading your post I followed up with RC and sure enough there was an issue. You saved me some MAJOR transportation headaches!
No problem. I know some have been able to use rc the next day just by showing up but I have also read where they were denied. I personally did not want to take the chance of being denied and I like to have things situated before my trip is started. I'm still watching for flights to drop because a 22 hr drive is long versus a 3 hr flight but the cost right now is way too high to fly. I'm keeping my toes crossed for cheaper flights. Have a great cruise and turkey day

I'll try calling tomorrow and seeing what answer I get. We're only a 9 hour drive from FLL but I can't stand being in the car so we fly. The longest car ride I can stand is to Canaveral/Tampa which is 5-6.

I understand about car rides. This 22 hr journey will test me. Lol

That is new information. I have never heard them denying anyone. We have flown in the day before and taken the shuttle. We just had to get back to the airport!
You do have to make reservations through RCI. If you use a travel agent then they have to make the reservation.
There are LOTS of chatter about getting to/from HOU to Galveston and back. The best is to go Southwest.
Like I said I don't know how true it is. The rep told me no but I have read where other people have done it and I have read where they were told no. I honestly don't know and you can't always believe the rc reps because they all give different answers

Flying into Galveston and the transportation expenses is one reason why I never did
Great drive to port thou
Have you ever done that drive?
Done SFO to HOU a couple times
If you have 3 days
Check out Deming NM for an overnight. Than San Antonio for your second night. Easy drive 3rd day If you have extra time check out the Alamo and the Riverwalk
If just 2 days than Las Cruces NM is good for an overnight.
Never have done this drive but we are leaving early Friday and staying Saturday night. It's a 22 hr drive and we are driving straight thru Between the 2 of us drivers we will rotate every 4 or 6 hours and then leave Sunday when we get back and be home Monday a.m We figured it will cost about $200 each way in gas and the flights are about 450 rt plus transport from airport so we are saving about 800 and figure that's more money for the cruise. Although if the flights drop to about 100. To 125 then we will fly

Just off Navigator this morning, a glorious 14 day TA from Barcelona, Spain. We had a great crossing, a little rough for a few days but Captain handled it well. Ship is in great shape, needing a little facelift soon to come in January, 2014. She is beautiful despite a little worn carpet and older TV's. We had a great time and would be happy to try to answer any questions.
We have a balcony aft starboard side in April. Do u know how those rooms are? Did they start the drink package on your cruise. If so does the 55 pkg include the frozen cocktails Does Johnny rockets serve breakfast like on allure
Thanks

I'd like to know more about meeting the ship transfer at the airport. I've asked about this in the past and have never been able to get the details. In fact, several years ago, I was told this wasn't an option unless air was booked through the cruise line. Our children will fly into Houston from Dulles. Right now they are looking at Houstonyellowcab.com which runs $107 out of Hobby and $179 from Bush Int.
Do you know how much the ship transfers into Galveston run?
When I called rc and asked they said it was about 90 each way pp or a little cheaper round trip. I have read though that if ur not flying in the day of then they can deny you the transfer but not sure how true After much research on flights and travel from hobby to port we have decided to drive from Vegas. We could jot find anything cheaper than 45 pp each way for ride to port

You can see Navigator on the Harbor cam now and it shows her still docked. The Emerald cam is tracking Carnival.
Will the cam change when she leaves? Only 147 days and I will be there. Woohoo can't wait

sorry, right side up would be nicer....:)
I would love it but just too small for me. Dang it :). It's very nice though. I love black dresses as they make me feel a little smaller. Lol

I'm in Vegas and found a swim suit with a high enough neck line! Thanks everyone!
I'm very happy to read about your great fighting attitude. Please keep up the fight and win the battle for all those who lost theirs. It makes me happy to read that your winning the fight. Stay strong and I hope you find what you need for your suits. Do you live in Vegas ? If so I know a place that has been here for years and they can make suits or adjust them

Hi everyone,
I'm still new to posting, the links on my previous post show a black dress Marie sent me with the white one I had requested. I love them both but while the black one fits great and I will wear it on our cruise in Feb. unfortunately the white one is just to tight around my middle. Marie is ok with me offering it here again to someone on this board. I am so excited that I was able to get one of Marie's beautiful dresses for the 1st time and would like to recycle it back to someone who hasn't received a dress from Marie before.
The tag says large but I am a size 6-8 and it fits great but it is very form fitting.
Please let me know if you would like the white dress and I will give you my contact info so I can get your address.
Have a nice evening,
Debbie
Black dress looks great. I also can't see the white one although it won't fit me anyhow. But I like to see them :)

Just got off the ship this past Sunday.
I know quite a few said the problem with the propulsion will not affect the maneuvering of the ship, and most have said in past review before the propulsion problem, that you feel almost no movement from the ship at all. Even to the point where you even forget that you were in a ship.
I have not sailed on many cruises, a total of 6, and this was by far the one that rocked and rumbled the most! It was like that for almost the whole time. But was worst during the first day and the last 3 days. The weather was clear, and the waves looked relatively calm the whole time. For those who were on the this trip, I'm sure they can tell you during the last 2-3 days, the pool water rocked back and forth like you were in one of those wave pools!
The 1st night I see the room attendant, I ask him "It's rocking alot than normally?" He said "yah man, we just trying the rush to Nassau." 3rd day "Still quite bad hey?" Him "Yah man, we trying to make up time and trying to get to St-Thomas." The last 2-3 days where it was the worst, I was walking back to the room, seeing him leaning his head on his laundry cart. He looks up with some daze, and I then said "Come on, now tell me this is not normal." He again said "Yah, rocking more than usual, but we just rushing to get home." LOL!
I don't get motion sickness, and Propulsion problem causing this or not, I was just disappointed to feel a ship of this size rock and tremble so much, after hearing so many great reviews of how you practically do not feel anything.
I have read where people say they couldn't feel it on this ship so I thought I was crazy. I don't get seasick but I was on allure in 2011 and the pools were swishing back and forth and I has to take medicine from getting sick. The weather was warm out so I am thinking it has everything to do with the size of the ship. Just my opinion

My friend has had many downs in her life and not a lot of ups. She is now on medication and is doing better but I think it is a challenge every day. She has a great doctor and many friends to help support her.
Thank you for being one of those friends that she needs and sounds like she has.
Jamie

Thank you. I have a friend that told me exactly what you said. Until she was able to get help there were times she would call me and tell me she thought about the dark side more then she should.
I hope she has gotten out of it. It's very hard and sometimes after you "fail" you still have the thoughts but on the other hand are fortunate you "failed". Only those who have been in the darkness will understand what I mean. Praying for people with so much pain is what we should be doing and not breaking them down more
Jamie

I won't go into details. But I will tell those people who are just lashing without having been there that you are so wrong. It's not a selfish act, a lot of people who attempt or succeed actual suicide think not only will their unbearable pain end but their family and friends would be better off without them. They don't feel they are loved or needed or feel they are just a burden. If you have never been to that very dark place then please don't judge something you have no clue about.

Typically RC does not get their stories straight but tell you what they think you will want to hear although I will say the lady I spoke to was very clear that she just didn't have the honest answer yet as they have not been told a for sure yet so I respect her a lot more for saying she didn't know for sure rather than tell me what she thinks I want to hear

The soda package is still available and is unaffected by these changes.
That will be great
Jamie

We don't know yet. The poster stated these are the new packages. Doesn't mean they did away with the soda package. We should find out tomorrow.
I thought I read first on the post that below replaces previous packages. When I called and asked all about the new packages. That was the one question she could not answer for sure... If they would keep just the soda package We shall see soon. Have a great day
Jamie

So if I am reading correctly. The 6.50 soda package is no longer available?
