  1. The best thing about it is the first time you use it you get $200 off the cruise you are booking. The 2% rewards and the restrictions on how the rewards can be used makes it useless after the first cruise. I have a visa which gives me 4% rewards for travel, plenty of others which give 3% rewards for travel. I cancelled my RCI card and plan to apply for one again next time I book a cruise from home as opposed to Next Cruise just for the price reduction.
  2. Interested on your take on the functions and entertainment on the Sun. Took the Sun through the canal and up to Alaska in 2015, was an enjoyable cruise, but it is my least favorite of all the NCL ships I have used. Liked the Gem and Jewel, had more variety of food and better bands. The Pride of America not too thrilling, but 7 days in Hawaii tops all other itineraries, plus Pride does not have a casino. Found the Spirit was quirky and different enough for a port intensive 12 days in the Mediterranean.
  3. Princess has a lot more choices for cruises in Asia, prices are reasonable. I thought RCI has much better entertainment, got tired of hearing the theme from Love Boat.
  4. We have a rule, never book the last cruise before a drydock or the first one after a drydock. We witnessed all kinds of construction prep on the last trip before drydock, made it difficult to get around the ship. We had another cruise cancelled because the ship went into drydock early.
  5. It's worse than you thought, 9 not 7.
  6. The Prima crowd will be happy you found it better than the Joy. If you gonna book 6/11 cruise out of NYC expect plenty of out of control kids, goes with the time and territory. Only took one cruise leaving 6/1, nothing in July or August. And you best check ahead of time on certain January cruises, some fun groups cruise during a school break. The Beatles stuff sounds worthwhile, glad you had good comedians, I get really tired of the cruise humor about eating constantly, not having to worry about drunken driving etc.
  7. Was my pleasure, you are quite welcome, glad you were charmed and inspired.
  8. Glad to hear you are done drinking in excess on cruises. Your negative comments about Anthem mean nothing to me, a non drinker who avoids the sun decks.
  9. Just checked prices on the Prima and Vista. As usual, the best prices are for cruises July to October of this year. The same cruises are twice as much in 2024 and 2025. Be interesting to see what those prices will next year at this time, after all the wonderful reviews.
  10. Booked an 12 day inside on Celebrity from Hong Kong to Singapore in March of 2025. Cost was $799 per person, 3 months ago, current price is $1401 pp.
  11. Have found when booking b2b it is easier using my PCC to get the same cabin for both cruises. Is also easier to just tell him which free at sea stuff I want. He also gives me the matching free cruise credit when I book a downpayment. Have had the same one for 6 years, never calls me, but sends about 3 emails a year. One time he let me know before it was announced that a cruise was going to become chartered, saved me time and the pain of getting a refund.
  12. Know you thought it was humor, missed nothing.
  13. Your arithmetic is suspect, I saw just as many negative reviews about Prima in Bermuda. There was only 10 reviews about the TA and Iceland fiasco.
  14. Passed the electric kool aid acid test in 1970.
  15. Wharf Rat, are you a Dead Head?
  16. Another great thing about ABC islands is that they qualify as a distant foreign port. We really enjoyed bringing Adventure to Bayonne by flying to Ft Lauderdale and then taking 12 days to get to NJ, including all the ABC islands plus St Marteen and Bermuda. There was an air show in Florida, they did one of those sneaky buzz the ship runs, very loud and surprising. The only relocation involving ABC on the boards currently is Tampa to Boston.
  17. Would prefer Viva for Lisbon, Malaga, and Gibraltar, the only port Prima has which is better is Naples. Both are very good first time in Europe itineraries.
  18. Have done Jewel and Gem, wondering how Pearl holds up in comparison.
