  1. Been awhile since I have sailed do they still have a special section like RCL does for evening get to gathers for elite guests?
  2. Perhaps its a money grab on part of your homeland security. Received the following on our cruise board. Filed this application a couple of days ago so will keep my fingers crossed
  3. Kruisesrazy have you had any luck getting your visa? Please see my note and I have gone thru same problem. I assume you are on the carnival cruise leaving in 9 days is that correct??
  4. Have been going thru hell to collect a visa to enter Australia. Over two weeks ago I filled out an electronic Visa application for entry into Australia. Within a couple of hours I had mine granted and my wife's came back as pending requesting additional information. Some of the stuff they wanted was crazy like wanting a copy of her marriage cert. (because she had another name before we were married); We recently celebrated or 50th and could not find it so we sent in a copy of the church cert. We packed all of that up and sent it in that day. Have heard nothing since other than they received it. Last week I talked with the passport office in Australia and they suggested we could apply for a normal visa which we did over a week ago. This week I again discussed this with them and they suggested we reapply for in transit visa for her as we are only staying in Australia for thee days (this visa application was really crazy and took hours to enter data on). They will not give me any information on the visa other than it has been received. Hopefully I will hear something back next week on one of these applications and not have to cancel my trip (costing me thousands) which is leaving Seattle Tue 6 September as Carnival has told me I can not get on ship without a visa. Am I the only one having these type of problems getting a visa??
  5. I am having the same problem. I applied for an ETA for my wife and myself. Mine was approved in a couple of min and her was not. They wanted a scan of her passport and some additional information. Which I sent in over a week ago. We are leaving in two weeks and really do not have any idea what to do. They have a site to view but shows nothing new. Embassy in US will not talk with us about these ETA. Certanley there is a way to find out this info but can-t find it
  6. Yes agree with above music and entertainment on ship is very poor. If you want these you are on wrong cruise line.
  7. try Aldies there version is even better
  8. Just another money grab by Holland. I know of no other cruise line that charges you corkage for the one bottle you take to your room to drink.
  9. Ditto all of the above comments. Only reason we have sailed Holland is because of BB King. Their show room repeats are of little interest to me. Hopefully they will come up with a replacement better than this offering. Suspect just another money grab.
  10. I am concerned about travel Visa to Australia on the Carnival transpacific cruise scheduled for Sept.. Attached is link where it states visa at current time only allowed to visit family at the current time. Has anyone heard if this requirement is due to be changed? https://auvisa.org/us/visa-eta/
  11. Have the same problem with receiving the e mails. Have contacted them several times and they don't respond by fixing their problem. Wish they would quit being so cheap and go back to mailing them. Other Carnival brands do you would think holland would with the senior age of their customers.
  12. They keep on reducing things like this and blame it on staffing shortage but never reduce tips that pay for this staff. Think all of us should reduce our tips due to staff shortage,
  13. Have recently taken cruises on RCL and Holland where tip structure is same as on Carnival but on these lines receive far better service. On both of these lines they change bed linen every three days and make up room twice a day. Service staff in buffet serves you most of the food and brings you beverages and other items you may need. In main dining room they have table cloths and have far fewer tables to take care of. In addition they have extra people to handle drink order so they can concentrate on serving. I do not want to get in a argument on the suggested tip but it appears to me Carnivals suggestion should be less than these othe rlines.
  14. Was on the previous weeks sailing and found the food OK as well as service. But entertainment and their staff was the worst I have ever experienced on over fifty cruise's I have taken. I will never sail one of these small ships again for that reason. Problem may of been Cruise director was not there till last night. Only one dancing show with a total of four dancers was presented. Feature films were shown at 8:30 so late sitting never saw one. When the BBC films were shown the show rooms had no performers as they were part of band (for anyone who has sailed these ships before they have already seen them and they need to be retired). Ocean bar band did not play music that the ships age group could dance too. Sing along lady could not sing well. TV did not operate most of cruise and had no CNN coverage. We don't take smaller Holland ships for entertainment but this really surprised me after sailing on thier larger ships with the music walk. I guess Holland does not want to pay BB King or Rolling stone for good acts on these ships.
  15. Still confused with requirements. Understand Holland requirements but do not understand Canada. According to Canada info covid test required 2 days before arrival. As our boston montreal cruise leaves on Sat and does not get to Canada till Monday does that mean we have to get two covid tests or one some how on the day we leave Saturday???
