No I am not seeing a post in the thread. I obviously didn't explain myself properly. When I click on the River Cruising folder, for example, I see a list of threads. Each thread name has either a dot, star or nothing preceding it. Intuitively, I want to click on the name of the thread in which I want to read the first unread post. However, if I click on the name, I get taken to post #1, and have to search for the first unread. Instead of clicking on the name (which I did in the past) I now have to click on the dot/star. I continue to state that this is NOT intuitive. The intuitive response is to click on the name.

Feel free to send me an email for detailed, step-by-step instructions for how to get to the first unread posts in the threads you follow.

  2. Open Safari and go to Cruise Critic. Sign in to your account. You can also create a bookmark/icon on your home screen to get there quickly.

When you are on the page you want to bookmark, at the bottom of the screen you will see a box with an arrow coming out of it. Click on that. Then swipe to the left until you see Add to Home Screen. Voila, you have an icon that will bring you to this page!

DO THIS! her instructions showed me things i didnt even notice before on the settings. it doesnt fix the managed content button but gives you a secondary option which i'm fiddling around with today

I believe that Manage Content is really only for choosing how often you want to receive notifications (like a pop up on your screen) or an email about someone new posting on a thread you follow.

I'm having the exact same issues as described in this thread. I am trying to figure out a way to get something like what User CP used to give me - just a list of the threads that I follow that have new posts in them, and way to click to get to the last post read.

I'm going to try changing the notifications as shown above, but does it really only give the option of having to get both a notification (the little bell, I assume) AND an email? What if I don't want emails? Is there a way to just get the notifications but no email? I don't want my inbox flooded with notifications - I just want to see them in one place, on the little bell.

Sorry if this is confusing - this whole thing is very confusing, and I fear we're going to lose a lot of our roll call members who won't want to spend hours trying to figure out how to make CC work for them. And that's going to cost me money, as I've paid deposits on private tours and now can't get hold of people who wanted to join us. 😞

I hope someone can help me with the notification issue!

Thanks.  That got rid of all the extra activities, but now it is not showing all the threads I am subscribed to.  Those do show up in my manage followed content list, but of course, I can't get an easy first unread like I can by using my activities stream.  Also, a few of the listed threads aren't showing that I have unread posts in them.  For example, one shows that the last post was made September 28th, but in the actual thread, the last post is October 8th.

ill wait till indexing is done before i totally panic

but even for this thread, which is correctly showing in managed content, i click on it and it does NOT take me to the first unread post. this is a critical feature for me which i'm not sure anyone else cares about but i hate scrolling through to figure out what i read last.

for a brand new thread id think all 'features' should be completed though?

Really, send me an email. It's long and detailed but will get you where you want to go!

sadly the my activity doesnt show what i want. i'm guessing they are still indexing

    corrected the notification setting

edit topic is only if you edit a topic. if you hit edit then do your typing, then at the bottom it says edit topic. technically its correct that you ARE editing topic but ive alway seen 'submit ' or 'enter' or 'complete edit' in the button to complete my post. to me edit topic means open the window to edit. not that i've completed but maybe i'm the only one with that position

If you want a very detailed description of how I set everything up so that it works for me the way I want it to, send me an email at lighthousemom at gmx dot com.

I don't follow/subscribe to many threads, but IIRC, I don't remember the old CC software giving you the ability to jump to the first unread by clicking on the thread title.  Didn't you always have to click the icon?

Try clicking on the Activity tab at the top of the page and then My Activity and select 'Content I follow'.  That should get you a list of what you've followed with the star/circle icons.

The screen shot you posted is where you can manage what you follow (you can change notification for the threads).

Thanks, I got all excited that this might work, but it didn't. I clicked on Activity>My Activity Streams>Content I Follow, and here's what I got:     Why does it list certain threads more than once? I tried playing around with the different selections under My Activity Streams and that only messed things up more.1040885052_ScreenShot2018-10-17at3_43_18PM.thumb.png.5165898a16ff791dacb6e4f2c6998f98.png

  9. I went to my user name > Manage Followed Content. A list of all my subscribed threads show up, but none of them have a blue dot or star next to it. That would allow me to go to the first unread post in that thread. If I click on the name of the thread, it takes me to page one rather than to the last unread post. Then I have to go to the last page and back up until I get to wherever I left off.

The "View first unread" is the button to the left of each thread.

The red thread thing is gone.  A star appears to the left of threads you have commented on.

What if I don't have buttons next to my threads? I got to this page by clicking on my user name > Manage Followed Content. I don't generally go looking for threads other than the roll calls for which I am cruising. So why don't I get any dots? If I click on the name of the thread, it takes me to page one rather than to the last unread post.245627400_ScreenShot2018-10-17at2_56_02PM.thumb.png.8e61c7581612c1965cb1a91a35a7cc7b.png

Option 1: In the thread listing, if there are new posts, the title will be bold.  To the left of the title is either a star (if you've posted to that thread) or a circle/dot (if you haven't posted).  Click the star or the circle to jump to the first unread.  If the title is not bold (ie: "normal"), there are no unread posts.

    image.png.b8204e1be1d30af30254fd3223666235.png

Option 2: Once you click on the thread, put the following at the END of the address in the address bar: ?do=getNewComment.  So if your address bar shows https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2595588-login-fail/, add the above and you get https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2595588-login-fail/?do=getNewComment.  Hit enter and it should take you to the first unread post.

I shouldn't need to do that for every thread I'm subscribed to (or following). When I click on the bold thread name, it should just go to the first unread post. I have all my subscribed threads saved under a bookmark, and while some of them are in bold, none of them has a blue dot or star.

  12. I booked my cruise using a Carnival Barclay Mastercard that I got about 10 years ago on a cruise. I also have a Delta Skymiles AMX. Now I'm wondering which card I should use to book cruises? Which one gives a better benefit to me? Should I pay for the cruise with one and onboard charges with the other? Hmmmmmm!

I book all travel expenses on my Chase Sapphire Preferred card. It includes trip cancellation and trip interruption insurance, which I have needed several times.

  13. May have already been mentioned but one thing I love about Princess is the self service laundry rooms. I like being able to do laundry halfway through the cruise so I can pack lighter and also not go home with a whole suitcase of dirty laundry. I hate doing laundry at home but for some reason I don't mind doing it onboard the ship. I actually find it relaxing. Also love the irons in the laundry room. We usually iron everything the first night so we are set for the whole cruise.

I thought I was the only one who was obsessed with ironing on a cruise! :')

  14. On SOME bookings with the Sip and Sail promotion, you can actually trade it in for obc or a discounted rate. I recently booked the 33 day Island Princess South America, and I told them I don't drink enough to need the beverage package. I don't remember exactly how much, but I saved like $1500. I don't drink that much in an entire year! It definitely pays to ask. :)

For my Sky Princess booking, they told me I am not able to back it out. No idea why.
