  1. They didn't take a credit card number at all when I reserved. They sent me an email that had information in it and asked me to reply if I wanted to do so. I replied that I did and they responded confirming that they had my reservation. They only took my card when I checked out the cart. I do note that they take reservations directly on their website now. That's new since I reserved. I would suggest just emailing them and see if they would take a reservation that way.
  2. I contacted them once and got an overnight response. I asked a couple of follow up questions and never heard back to those. This was the initial response: "We will have special departures for people arriving by Cruise."
  3. Glacier Bay, Glacier Bay, Glacier Bay. Too me that trumps the choice of lines for Alaska. That puts Princess as one of the few major lines to the top of the list. If doing a cruise tour, I believe their land accommodations are superior to the others.
  4. I know how a fish swimming upstream must feel. For me, the medallion and the app would be a major plus when considering another Princess cruise. I loved being able to open the door with my elbow when my hands were full, no need to put stuff down to use a card. I loved the locate function on the app to find and meet up with my cabin mate. Whether I ordered drinks and food through the menu or not, I liked being able to look at them (the menus) on the app before getting to the bar or restaurant. Maybe the schedule is a bit clunky but it worked well for what I wanted it to do. Oh, and I especially liked being able to hook the medallion to my watch band so I didn't have to try and remember it each time I left the cabin.
  5. I think I'll stick to beer. It's so much simpler.
  6. Only for one night on our recent 10 day.
  7. For those of us who don't plan their whole day in advance, I appreciated the app. If it was 9:03 at night I could just open the app and find out what was happening right then. No need to go back to the cabin to find a piece of paper.
  8. One thing I thought worked amazingly well was the choice of what to receive on paper in the app. I filled that out and got nothing other than the patter. So long useless sale flyers.
  9. I decided to book the Bergen to Greenwich version of the cruise. It shows us arriving at Greenwich at noon. That being the case I'm hoping that the river transit will be during normal waking hours. I'm addicted to watching passing scenery. Thanks for the helpful info!
  10. Thanks but now I'm totally confused. I'm trying to decide in which direction to take this cruise. On the website it has shore excursions in London the day after Dover and disembarkation the following morning. What time is the arrival in Greenwich?
  11. On the Bergen to Greenwich cruise, is the trip up the Thames done at night or during the day?
  12. I would normally go up to the glassed in lounge at the top of the ship at night and connect to a network on shore. I selected the network manually on my phone to avoid the ship cell service. Not always the greatest but it worked most of the time.
  13. They hand out maps individually and will mark and customize the suggested stops based on your interests.
  14. It was $20 but that was for an XL. It would be less for other options.
  15. So, let's assume they take a bag every minute and move it 5 feet. With an average tip of $3 that's an hourly rate of $180. Not a bad gig...
  16. On the Enchanted we started out with the Lagunitas as the only IPA. After a couple of days it switched to Lil Sumpin Sumpin. In my view a good upgrade. Second place was a Sierra Nevada Pale. There was no third place in my book.
  17. There are so many taxi scams in Ft. Lauderdale that I have to wonder if there's any point in reporting them. The drivers obviously aren't concerned about it so perhaps the report is pointless. Perhaps the taxi drivers wouldn't lose so much business to the ride shares if they were considered a reputable business. For me, taking a taxi in Ft. Lauderdale is a last resort. I only had to wait 3 minutes for my Lyft last month and I knew the price before I got in.
  18. I wouldn't worry too much about the top things to see. I'd just follow the recommended route. We only did the north loop as we had done the south in the past but the top things were pretty obvious. There were parking areas. But that sort of misses the point. The beauty of the golf cart is that you can stop anywhere and anytime. It's the journey that's the top thing to see. You have a 360 view at relatively low speed. The experience is totally different than being on a bus or van tour. You're not traveling from place to place, you're experiencing the journey.
  19. I kinda liked the journey view. I don't really plan ahead much. I can take a look at what's happening now or shortly and just head that way. Not much scrolling involved.
  20. Pretty much every chain has hotels in the Dania Beach area (with free airport shuttles). Much cheaper there then on 17th street or the waterfront. Perhaps a bit further but still within a $20 or so Uber ride.
  21. The reservation I made in the app was totally changed when it appeared on board. Same time (6:00) but different dining room and a shared table vs. table for two. I just showed up where I originally reserved and requested what I really wanted (and the same table each night). At some point the next day that request showed up as a reservation in my app.
  22. They are $100 per day for the entire day. Initial check in is just outside the port and the pickup point for the carts is a two or three block walk from there. You do need a reservation as they are very popular and they sell out before the cruise. There is no deposit required so no reason not to reserve.
  23. All of the roads on the cart tour we took (the full north circle) were paved so no problem for a car.
  24. Ah, all the modern ships with their wall mounted TVs. Just got off another cruise line where I was awakened at 7:00 every morning by the cruise directors morning show in the cabin next door.
