  1. I am planning a cruise on Silhouette and want to go with an aft corner S1.... choices are 7358, 8347 and 9376

Anyone experienced any of these cabins and any obstructions, ie window washer equip...which deck is best, are all 3 same size balcony?

I want least overhang as love to lie in sun..... need to make decision soon.

    Thanks so much.

  2. I just returned from a wonderful cruise on the AotS! We ended up booking two more on board 3-night on the enchantment in a few months and a 9-night on the Jewel this time next year.

The only sore spot on our trip was the bed! WTH did they find those things?!? It was awful. I emailed the concierge a couple weeks before our trip to request a foam topper (which I heard you could do through this forum). She emailed me back saying that they didn't have foam toppers, but another topper. I don't know what that pad was made of as it was the thinnest thing I'd ever seen. Our wonderful suite attendant Princess and the Pea'd us and piled up about 5 duvets on the bed, but it only did so much good.

We are planning on buying a fluffy topper and foam pad to bring in a spare suitcase on our upcoming trips so we can actually get a decent night sleep.

Are the beds on Enchantment or Jewel any better? We're in a GS on both.

I totally agree. Not had one decent mattress for a long time so have the same experience with extra duvets on top of mattress... They don't have the foam/egg crate anymore due to fire risk I was told.. The GS/OS I have had were a little better but overall seem to be getting worse. But it won't stop me cruising I guess.....lol

  3. Before I saw the thread about drink prices I had emailed RCI a few days ago and asked " Is it possible to get a drink menu with prices? ie. price of frozen mudslide, toasted almond, bud lite, etc.

    Thanks"

Apologies if this was already stated....didnt read thru entire thread, but no more of the wonderful flavors of the Cruzan rums onboard... RCCL have removed them all, no mango rum etc, which I always had as part of my Mango Mai Tai, and Mango Mojito! I substitute now with the mango vodka they have but its not as good..... imho... who oh why did they discontinue all the cruzan flavors....:(

  4. Having worked as a nurse on cruise ships in the past, I can concur that indeed there are often pax that pass away at sea, it may be natural..their last cruise with loved one and expire in their sleep...very sad, but I have seen many that have had an MI or coded (maybe excess drinking, forgetting to take their meds, choking on food or an existing condition, who knows...) but they are sustained medically until a higher level of care can be arranged, be it, air lift, coastguard or next port depending on acuity/critical etc. Even when the med center was full, pax/crew were still seen but usually by way of triage.

If med staff are busy with other sick pts, then other crew would be designated,, ie guest service staff, to be there as emotional support (as much as poss) for the remaining family members or guests that travelled with the deceased..... Every incident like this is truly heartbreaking for everyone involved.

  5. I was recently on the Freedom and love my sushi, went to Jade most nights hoping for better sushi, but its the same every day and really not very good at all....definately no comparison to the excellent sushi (and choice) I recall having on celebrity some time ago....at least RCCL have Izumi now, although al a carte, it is very good sushi, but they dont have one on FOS unfortunately.

  6. We will be sailing in our first Grand Suite this coming February on Adventure. A couple of questions.

First, what perks are not to be missed? I'm aware of pool deck seating, priority check in, dining room menu room service, concierge. Is there a gold card section in the theater? Ice rink (do you still need tix)?

Also we are on the hump GS 1324. Sailing with 3 people in the room. Is there room for 3 chairs at the balcony table?

Finally, torn wether or not to get the drinks package? I understand we have access to the lounge, but how much of a dent would that take off of a drinking bill? We are diamond and have found we still like the package so we are not restricted to certain alcohols, etc.

I want to make sure we get the most out of our first suite experience!

Hi! I sail in a suite often and still get the drinks package as it truly does save a bit, with 2-3 foo foo drinks during the day, 2-3 mojitos' or wine at night and an odd mimosa, and 2-3 bottles of water, if purchased seperately it would be approx $80/day. I can have all this and more if I want for $55/day(incl tip) with premium package. so tome it is worth it and no surprises at end of cruise. Enjoy your GS experience, but be warned once tried, you will be spoilt and end up like me!!! lol

  7. Mango Mai Tai!

    -Mango rum

    -Amarertto

    -Pineapple juice

    -Mango puree

    -Lime

    -Grenadine (optional)

Only disappointment is that RCCL recently discontinued all the yummy flavored Cruzan rum on board, (why oh why!!??) so no more Mango Rum, but there is Mango Vodka as a substitute!

Same for Mango Mojito, (another fave!) also made with the mango rum of past....

  8. So all the theories of mid January are wrong! Lol am on Explorer waiting for the ship to dock. One heck of a manoever to turn the ship around. Took a long time. Course now we have to be shuttled over to other term for cars. Methinks this is going to be a lengthy process since all new. Will keep you posted as well as review of this Xmas cruise.

  9. Many of the foam mattress toppers are the thin 1-inch foam. Even with the thicker ones I find adding the folded duvet cover over it just makes it like I'm sleeping on a feather bed. I like my cush!!

Sounds like I will be asking for extra duvets too then! Great advice! Thanks :D

  10. Thanks you for taking the time to post your review of The Vision I go on her in 2 weeks so am most interested in reading any up to date perceptions of the experience on her since so many of the recent reviews are poor....

Hopefully the request I made earlier re extra padding for the bed will be honored.... that and my request to "whoever can make it happen" to give me lots of beautiful sunshine too!! lol

  11. We got off the Vision yesterday. It wasn't the best cruise we had ever had, but not the worst by a long shot. We enjoyed the MDR food for the most part. We are in our 40's, & always found stuff to do during the day if we wanted to & we were sorry to leave. There were only 70 kids on the ship, but we only heard one of them...there wasn't a single place this kid didn't throw a tantrum!

The downsides were the boarding and leaving process were slow and disorganised. The cruise director very poor, but he left the ship yesterday too, so that's good news. The activities manager was also poor, but the entertainment staff (with the exception of Mo) were good fun. The "Headliners" were mostly awful.

The rudeness of some of the passengers took our breath away on more than one occasion, obviously please and thank you have been forgotten in some people's vocabulary.

For the most part, we enjoyed it and we would do it all over again tomorrow.

Thank you Britcruiser. Again another not so positive review...oh dear. Well like sine other poster stated, I guess you have to take it with a pinch of salt, but when you read majority of poor reviews it sure makes you wonder... I will write reviews when I return from my holiday cruisesm and hopefully have do e good positive feedback to share.... I hope!!! Lol

  12. Just off the vision today. Had my time dining but with a set time and it was ok. Food was ok , not terrific except for the duck and tenderloin. Service was good. Staff was pleasant. Did not have a problem getting a drink the few times I did. Not a lot of daytime entertainment besides trivia and towel folding. Not a lot of kids. I was told by one of the staff average age was 65. Crowded diamond lounge. Thankfully the diamond lounge had good coffee. An ok cruise but nothing wowed me. There was Noro on board.

Thank you for posting. Doesn't seem that you were very impressed with your trip... Hope that at least you had good weather?
