  1. Glad your cruise was nice and thanks for the heads up on the Renaissance. We were eying the Boatyard for dinner so it looks like a good choice.

Boatyard is very nice for both lunch and dinner.....

Do hope all the construction next door will be complete before you go or at least you have a room with a better view! Lol

Location is good tho and walking distance to shopping, publix, several restaurants, so that's a huge positive!

  2. Great review. We have always had a great cruise on Equinox, and we've been in those corner aft S1s a lot. Make a note, however: steamers are not allowed on Celebrity.

Oh? Taken it with me on other cruises, maybe just a fluke..... no one said a word, but certainly don't want to break any rules either...thought it was just irons..... thanks

  3. Glad to hear you enjoyed your cruise....sad to hear you dined alone....disturbed to hear Luminae food and service was not stellar. Thanks for the review.....will be enjoying your aft corner suite in March.

Am sure you will have a good experience...I dont like garlic so my choices were a little more limited, but that was ok... I don't starve! lol otherwise the staff at Luminae tho super busy were extremely nice and friendly and really wanted to do a great job...think they were just short staffed, or maybe the new "norm" felt bad for them.

  4. Just got back after a very enjoyable week on Equinox. Having sailed on Silhouette I knew what to expect re layout etc and also had chosen same suite type with a corner aft... wonderful!

Pre-cruise, New Years Eve, and day, I stayed at the Renaissance on 17th st. Wouldn't stay there again.and the quietest, most boring NYE ever... it was like a ghost town area... very disappointing. The hotel staff were not too friendly either... asked if anything going on in the area, just answered No. that was it.. ok then.......the room was nice but view of a building site and new construction was not very inspiring....never mind... did enjoy a lovely lunch at Bimini Boatyard just a few steps away.

Embarkation was delayed by about an hour or so due to extra cleaning after having had a Noro breakout, but you would never have known any issues.... allegedly many cruisers received text/email communication about the delay...I didn't, so thanks to Cruise critic I read about it so left for the port a bit later than I usually would, and walked straight on...thank you CC!

Luggage arrived sooner than expected so that was nice, I had forgotten my steamer and all my clothing was creased so my cabin attendant, dear Kasim, took it all and had it pressed and put on hangers for me! How wonderful!!! What a great start and service!

I was traveling solo as I often do, so usually spend the day lying in the sun and soaking up those rays, with some relish foo foo drink, , ;) and then at night would venture down to the Martini bar before dinner....and have my fave "Lychee-tini" yum! Met some very nice people, although all couples, I didn't feel too uncomfortable being alone....for the most part everyone was very friendly, so it wasn't too bad. That's just one of those things....drinking and dining alone... but you make the best of it don't you..... the staff at the Martini bar are just super friendly and most entertaining!

I ate at the suite restaurant, Luminae, a few times, it was ok. Again staff were so nice but food was hit or miss.... service very slow as there appeared to be less servers than on previous sailings.

Enjoyed dinners at Murano and Sushi on 5 and also had my wonderful Butler, Dragos, serve me dinners in my suite which was delightful. Gave me the menu in the early evening, and I ordered away, and along it came, even had Sushi twice, he arranged especially for me. I was spoilt!

Aside from the last 2 days, the weather was super...lots of beautiful sunshine. Only got off the ship in Labadee and Cozumel. The other ports I had the pleasure of lying on the double beds by the pool... so comfortable and a treat as they are usually "reserved"...lol good to take advantage of the cruisers leaving to go on tours etc...

I saw a couple of shows, and really enjoyed the "Silent Disco" in the Martini bar area. Went to Michaels club once...sat for a bit but maybe it was just that night, it didn't have a very inviting or friendly atmosphere, so didn't stay...

Only frustration this cruise, was I had torn my rotator cuff (shoulder) a few weeks prior so limited raising my right arm without extreme pain, so couldnt do as much dancing etc that I enjoy... and had to watch when crowded incase someone knocked into me.... yeouch!!

Overall the choices of food in the Oceanview were good, Eggs Benedict station excellent, and English bacon! Awesome. For lunch, if you like garlic infused items you would be very happy. Not my fave at all but I always found something. Salads fresh, love the bread, and carved meats always good. Roast beef, roast lamb.... yummy!

It was a relaxing week, I did most what I wanted. Can't say enough about my Butler, cabin attendant, and other staff/crew. The last day at sea was a bit off as didn't feel the best...very rough seas, so stayed on my balcony. Missed saying goodbye to some peeps, but they may also have been cabin bound that day too....lol

To summarize, As always, on Celebrity, Great crew, friendly, and great customer service, butler and attendant made you feel special and cared for.....really added to the overall experience.

In another 7weeks I will be cruising again, am a lucky girlie that's for sure, although this time I will have my Mother over from U.K...can't wait!

  5. Received this email around 8 PM this evening.

    Dear Valued Guest,

We would like to provide you with important information regarding your upcoming sailing onboard Celebrity Equinox sailing from Fort Lauderdale on January 2nd, 2017.

During the current sailing, a small group of guests onboard experienced gastrointestinal illness. In an abundance of caution, we are currently conducting enhanced sanitizing onboard the ship and within the cruise terminal to help prevent any illness from affecting your cruise. Due to this extra cleaning and sanitizing, check-in for this sailing is expected to take place between 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM. In order to facilitate your check in process, we ask that you arrive at the Cruise Terminal according to the following designated times.

    12:30 PM to 1:00 PM = Deck 9, 10 & 11

    1:00 PM to 1:30 PM = Deck 8

    1:30 PM to 2:00 PM = Deck 7

    2:00 PM to 2:30 PM = Deck 6

    2:30 PM to 3:00 PM = Deck 3

We apologize for this delay to your boarding process and we thank you for your understanding and patience. We look forward to welcoming you on board Celebrity Equinox.

    Sincerely,

    Celebrity Cruises

Thank you so much for posting. Still not received any communication, so am thankful to you guys on CC or or would have had a very long wait at the port!!!

  6. We just sailed out of FLL and it couldn't have been smoother. This is the first S class ship I've been on and all I can say so far is WOW. Before I sailed Century Class and Millennium class.

Embarkation FLL at Pier 18 could not have been smother. The ship is beautiful. I found my favorite bar so far; its the Martini Bar. (have premium drink package.) Someone turned me onto the Cucumber Martini. Never had such a good drink for smoothness and refreshing.

The cabin is better than AQ on an M class. I love the shower doors and storage spaces. So far I can't find anything to complain about or even find amiss.

I hate to sound like a cheerleader because I'm not usually that. However It's a beautiful ship with so far great staff.

Great to hear, and not surprised. I remember my first impression when on Silhouette first. I am on Equinox for the sailing just after New Years, 3 weeks away... can't wait! Would love to hear more of your experience onboard this beautiful ship.

  7. Wish I had known about egg crates...our bed was extremely hard...my only criticism of the cabin. Do they always have them available?

Not all the ships have eggcrate now due to fire hazard, but I always ask for them. If not avail your room attendant will provide an extra comforter to be placed on top of the mattress....works a treat!... :)

My secret to comfy, sleep filled nights on board... so don't tell anyone!! lol ;)

  8. Well, I disagree with Curt. I think the M class royal suite is far superior to the CS. You don't have to go through the bedroom to get into the bathroom. There is a separate shower which is a HUGE deal. Taking a shower in that tub is terrible! Not to mention climbing over that high wall to get in and out.

Yes, you are so right!! Deffo RS is superior in all ways, incl layout....

  9. It is interesting to see everyone's differing opinions...I think alternate views are great so that cruisers can decide on their own what to do... I would agree with the comment that the large windows bring lots of light into the main room, and there is plenty of storage. We brought 5 large suitcases and fit everything.

It is still not my favorite layout.... but again X does provide excellent suite perks and whatever cabin you book, you will no doubt enjoy your cruise. Certainly, even though we didn't love the cabin itself, we appreciated being in a suite, the extra room in a larger cabin, and the service we received.

    Agreed!! :D

  10. Thank you for putting into words what I never did.... lol I was in a CS on M class recently and wouldn't book again. Even tho as you stated it was great to have a suite and service was decent...dont want to sound like a spoilt child, (lol) but...

The bedroom/bathroom area left much to be desired indeed. Very squished and poor layout. Wasted space as you described. Very dark as no window in bedroom so it felt very claustrophobic. Unable to get internet in that area either.

Also anyone with mobility issues would have a hard time getting in/out of bath tub for shower since not separate. No sunloungers on the balcony which I expected, and was unable to obtain, but I guess, since there is a full overhang, it was diffcult to actually get sun on you anyway...so guess thats a mute point.

Location was nice, midship so easy access to all areas, but likely will not pay all the extra $ for one again. My dream is to experience a PH suite on MClass one day....sigh...now from what I have seen of those, deffo a wonderful space. Dream on....lol

  11. We will be on the Summit in January. Last summer when we were on the Summit we heard that they might be upgrading the internet (faster). Can anyone give an update?

I can only speak to my own experience with 2 cruises this year on Summit.

The internet speed and connection were dreadful on deck 8/Royal Suite unless I went out into the hallway. Never was improved on, so often had to sit in hallway or go outside suite to other areas on ship.

Deck 7/Celebrity Suite was better, could even watch netflix on some occasions although not consistent, kept stopping/freezing every few mins.....but never did work in the bedroom.

Maybe I am the minority, but do hope you have a better experience.

  12. My husband and I usually travel on Carnival and have never been on a Celebrity cruise. I am 50 and my husband is 57. I am looking into the Equinox travelling to the Eastern Caribbean in August, price is fantastic. How much different or same is it from Carnival, food and cabin wise??? Less kids?? Want a balcony, which deck is best?? Which free perks is best: cabin credit, free gratuities, classic beverage or unlimited internet?? Thanks for any help!!

I know it is all subjective to what our personal prefs are, but IMHO -

Carnival - Very family oriented, food blah, incl speciality restaurants, not worth the extra $, entertainment average to cheesy, customer service average to poor, got to Platinum but minimal perks.

RCCL - becoming more family oriented, food quality deteriorated, incl speciality restaurants, customer service average to poor, entertainment ok, except for hairy chest/belly flop...gross. Got to D+ but again minimal perks unless suite (diamond or concierge lounge access)

Celebrity - far superior in all areas, more classy, better customer service and recognition of status, love the suite/butler experience. Michaels club, suite restaurant and speciality restaurants, Food better, entertainment average to v good. No comparison really, but that's my taste......lol.....just feel that overall experience on Celebrity is far superior in quality and service across all areas.

  13. Vadell, Chemmo, thanks so much for your response...

I am so happy to hear this. Quisine was ok, but won't miss it and look forward to trying Silk Harvest. Don't care much for Tuscan, but am thrilled Murano is on there! Love their menu.i ate at sushi on 5 on Summit last month..... really nothing special. Very average quality sushi, limited sushi items, lots of noodle stuff so imho not worth experiencing again,,.. but Murano and Silk Harvest I am excited for... thanks again.

  14. Hi all,

Any recent Equinox cruisers please confirm... I see Tuscan onboard website, but they also show Murano... on some ships Tuscan replaced Murano (very unfortunately) hope this didn't happen...😞

It also shows Bistro on 5, and Sushi on 5 which I know replaced Bo5.... I adore Murano so am hoping it is still an offering.... not been to a Silk Harvest either.

Please clarify for me what the speciality restaurants are, since Celebrity website is not updated and does not make it clear. Thanks so much

  15. Just back from a b2b on Summit . . .happy to answer any questions. I do intend to do a review once I get my thoughts together. Conflicting feelings about Celebrity and want to do a fair review.

Hi Jode, I just got off same cruise and have to say I was not overly impressed at all, quite disappointed in several areas unfortunately.....2nd time on Summit in a few months and don't think I will be going back on her......

Not giving up on Celebrity as had Excellent experience on Silhouette earlier this year.... going to stick with newer ships for a while.... 👍

  16. Having been loyal to Royal the past years up to D+ level, I have gone back to Celebrity. Also done several NYE RCCL cruises..prefer the change and imho a more upgraded experience, customer service and food quality.

I would not hesitate to give Celebrity a try..... beautiful ships, way more perks if you get a suite too.....

I felt that RCCL had deteriorated in many ways, so am most happy to have had such an improved experience on Celebrity so far....good luck with your decision.

  17. Am planning another trip and trying to find out price of

Internet package(unlimited) for one, and premium bev for one, as am only one of 2 peeps that will use this, so doesn't seem like BBB is financially lucrative for me?

    Any advise please... Thanks muchly.

  18. Hi all, I am planning another cruise on this beautiful ship and haven't done western Carib on her.

Anyone recently sailed, can you please please tell me what side we dock in Falmouth and Cozumel... Getting an aft corner so want to be on the side with views of Falmouth or Coz so my guests can enjoy first time .....

    Thanks so very much.

  19. Most do get a call or email about a week prior to sailing. But not in every case. Some do get contacted, while others have not. I did not get contacted, so I called the shoreside concierge myself a few days before sailing. Captains Club will give you contact info if you call them.

Yes, that's what I heard, so 5 days out and no contact made me think I better initiate the communication myself! Lol

Contacted Cpts club and was told concierge would call me tomorrow. So it's all good... 😀 Thanks for response....
