  1. I had the aft balcony. There were 5 usb ports in my room: - 2 in the Power box next to the mirror/desk - 2 in the wall next to the bed - 1 in the phone on the other side of the bed I usually charge my phone in the power box but 1 time in the afternoon, i took a 1hr nap. there was something i wanted to see at 4pm so i set my phone's alarm to 3:30pm and charged it in the usb port next to the bed (using the same usb cable). When i woke up, the phone didn't charge that much. I'm thinking the usb ports in the power box are 2Amps while the ones in the wall next to the bed are 0.5amps? (I did not try the usb port in the phone.)
  2. Sweet and spicy {baked} salmon (top) Pacific tataki salmon (bottom) Wanted to do this pic yesterday instead of 2 separate pics but couldn't find it. I think this is the best looking pic out of all the ones I took
  3. i'm also on the infinity Antarctica cruise in feb 2023 and also came here to read the review because i feared the ship being long in the tooth since it'll be 5yrs since last dry dock/refurb. ie: how worn/soft/uncomfortable are the cabin beds?
  4. Corridor to Eden (5th floor aft) on Beyond: On each Edge class ship, the corridor to Eden is different: Edge: Haunted forest Apex: Lots of phallic symbols On Beyond, I'm nicknaming this the Headache forest. This pic was taken on debarkation day. It is not normally this brightly lit. It is dim and if you're not careful, you will hit you head on the object hanging from the ceiling as you're walking through.
  5. Beyond's sushi place has dishes not found on Edge/Apex, as marked on the menu: Beyond roll: Pacific tataki salmon roll: Grilled sweet & spicy salmon roll: Shrimp (left) and scallop (right) kakiage: Lobster and shrimp wontons (bottom). Other dish (top) is fried calamari, which is on both Edge + Apex. Osaka style Kushikatsu: Spicy seafood soup: Same as the miso soup except they added crab claws/mussels/shrimp (2 each) and made it a little spicy. Better value than the miso soup. I had the items in 2 sittings. I did not try the Asian chicken salad nor the Oysters Dynamite. My favorite was the Grilled sweet & spicy salmon. My least favorite was the miso soup (explained above)
  6. Around 5days before sail,I get an email from them saying there's a problem with linking my line of credit to my checking acct. I have to contact my bank. Meh.. f u CAS for only giving me a few days notice when I applied over a month ago. Stopped bothering with it
  7. i'm on Infinity and solstice next year. 😞 at least with solstice, it was refurbed last year. hopefully wifi was improved at least? infinity was last refurb in 2018 so it's due to dry dock in 2023. (every 5 years to pass inspection) unfortunately, i'm sailing on her in feb 2023 (Antarctica) so 5yrs since last refurb, i'd expect her to be a little shabby. 😞
  8. ahh.. sorry.. misunderstood. i would say prima's buffet is 1/4 the size of joy's buffet and 1/3 the size of jewel class. it's hard to judge vs joy since joy has lots of small islands of food. easier to judge vs jewel class. on jewel class, you have 3 aisles of food. the main isle has left and right sides, then you make a u-turn for the fruits. prima is just 1 aisle
  9. I'm currently on celebrity beyond, the 1st celebrity ship to get starlink. These are the stats. Holy fast! (Even for phone internet from service provider) 😮
  10. Um no. Prima (3k pax) is in-between jewel class (2k) and breakaway (4k). I did not like the new smaller atrium area. It's in front of the casino on deck 6 instead of the usual deck 7. That's because Starbucks occupies a big chunk of deck 7. It's all about the $$$. 😞 Wished Starbucks was on deck 6 And all atrium activities (music, trivia, etc) was still on deck 7.
  11. just checked and i got a room #. it's a BA category! 12th floor midship (breakaway)! i guess they were out of BB-BF rooms and the person in the BA either canceled or won a move up bid. either way, lucky me 🙂
  12. ahh.. good point. hence the name change. now that makes sense. wished ncl would come out and say things like this
  13. then i dont understand the 'st george ferry/ramp C' xfer point from google maps transit? yeah, i'll stick with uber even though i only have a carryon and a backpack
  14. i'm going on Celebrity tomorrow out of Cape Liberty in NJ. uber is $75 from brooklyn (near Verrazano bridge). for cheaper: google maps says i can take a bus into staten island, then xfer to another bus to St George ferry/ramp C. i'm taking a ferry from staten island to Bayonne cruise port?
  15. https://thepointsguy.com/news/royal-caribbean-icon-of-the-seas-booking-available/ Royal's new class of ship (icon class) also has a Surfside. but instead of being a buffet, it's a family friendly 'neighborhood' 😲
  16. yup. thats why the buffet is so small. they need to put a sign in front of the buffet saying that
  17. Going on the Beyond next week in AQ. Saw that a sunset veranda opened up and might downgrade to it. Are there any differences between the Beyond's spa and the spa in Apex?
  18. at COB today, got email with new docs. i think i've been upgraded? room now says ob-bf/gty gty= guarantee. i just checked and when you try to mock book a balcony, it's a gty so my cruise (thanksgiving week) is full. 0b was my old room (ocean view). guess ob-bf is their way of keeping track on how i got my room?
  19. i called again and this person said she and her supervisor dont know how to upgrade a free cas cruise so she xferred me to cas. on hold with cas but i have doubts they know how to do it. sigh. other suggestions? edit: so in them talking with cas, the Diamond upgrade dept will send an email to CAS for my Diamond cabin upgrade.
  20. a few days later, still havent heard anything back. how long does it take for a response?
  21. traffic? oh.. you mean lots of cars and cross the street is like playing Frogger? street view shows cobblestone sidewalks. yuck for dragging luggage for a mile. instead of taxi, how about train (red line)?
  22. Male, solo. Trip is in Dec. Hotel is Alvalade Palace. It's 1 mile south of the airport, past Rotunda do Relógio. I only have a carry on (2 wheels, not a spinner luggage) and a backpack, which i will put on the carry on. Google maps says it's a 17min walk. But i read lisbon has lots of hills. How feasible is it to walk to the hotel? heck, how safe is it to walk around the airport? (10am)
  23. I doubt that internal wireless traffic has any effect on you surfing the web. I'm assuming Prima is using, at minimum, gigabit switches. Like the name says, it can handle a gigabit of data per sec and that's per port on that switch. ie: 16port switch can handle 16gigabits of data per sec. it's unlikely anything on a cruise ship can overwhelm a gigabit switch. (a nuclear carrier sure, but doubtful on a cruise ship) and there are probably multiple switches on the ship. the wireless access point in the food court for the iPads would use 1 port. i doubt that passenger internet will be mixed in/allowed onto that wireless access point. i used to think passenger's surfing speed was limited by the satellite bandwidth. Now i think passenger network traffic is split between those using free minutes and those that paid to upgrade to unlimited. (hence, less requests for refunds and more $ staying in ncl's pockets) that's based on my own experience on your same cruise. i had no problems with my unlimited basic internet except on the last night. then again, it's just a sample size of 1
  24. The aft of deck 8 is weird. Look at all that wasted space. Plus with that steel in the way, you can;t see anything. On the Breakaway ships, you can easily see out of the aft on the Waterfront. ie: wave at the pier as the ship leaves port edit: or is this the front of the ship?
