  1. I guess I never realized that the account could be split with regard to payment for the cabin itself, but I guess since there are folios created for each individual, that's actually possible. I've always sailed with my wife and pay for the cabin. My recommendation would be for the owner of the FCC to just pay for the full cabin fare, and collect the 1/2 share from the other occupant. That way, the FCC, if more than 1/2 of the fare, would be fully applied.
  2. Yell as you drive through the far NE part of town!
  3. To put this into a little perspective (maybe?)... The cruise industry just a couple of years ago went through an event unlike any it had ever encountered before. COVID. During that period, and for the first time in most lines' history, they had ships without passengers for an extended period of time. Without passengers in cabins moving water on a daily basis, thousands of lines went un'flushed' by normal use, and were permitted to go dry. For precisely the reasons @chengkp75 notes, before the restart could begin, the crew were obliged to stage their way through the entire ship, turning on every tap for some period of time to remove the brown crud from each and every line. Miles and miles and miles of pipe. I've never taken exception to a @chengkp75 statement of fact before, but this one bizarre period in the industry actually did require a full "flushing" much of the water system above the water line to bring it back to a normal state!
  4. Alternately, find a TA whose focus is more specifically upon the line in which you're interested, and they'll be more likely to know the nuances far better than other agents / agencies. And this doesn't mean just finding one of Celebrity's 'power brokers'. Sometimes it's just part of the agents within an agency. Yeah, I know - how do you do that? Some years ago, after a fair number of cruises with X of our own, I created a short list of 'interview' questions that, if answered correctly, put an agency on my short list before I made my final decision. Have been with them for Celebrity reservations ever since.
  5. Depends entirely upon which one of the half dozen current versions of 'Maker's Mark' you have as to the taste and 'sippability'. Wide variation in how they're finished. Lots of opinions on this!
  6. Yeah, but the trip was worth it, wasn't it? 😁 @GeorgeC Drop me a line (email below) before you arrive and if you have time in your schedule, perhaps your 'we' and our 'we' could meet for a drink and a nice meal. We always enjoy putting faces to names. I'll treat you to a Blanton's!
  7. Just realized what your situation is. You have FCC worth more than the price of your own part of the cost of a cabin that you'll be sharing? I'm confused? Making one payment for the cabin for both of you, using the FCC as part of it, doesn't seem to create any issues.
  8. Vinca in Broomfield, CO, just N of Denver. Nice menu, too.
  9. Ouch. Your "fishtail" is one of those combined pitch + roll events. They're usually the toughest on weak stomachs. No fun. There, you can get really hammered if you're both high and far forward/aft.
  10. Mind the physics... Side to side (roll) motion is exaggerated by how high you are above the axis of motion. Being forward or aft doesn't make a difference. It's front-back up-down motion (pitch) where the motion is exaggerated by being further forward or aft.
  11. Yes. The difference isn't the amplitude of the motion, it's the acceleration that you feel vs. see. Even large translations at slow speeds aren't going to be felt.

  13. Our first experience with a "highly trained sommelier" in many years of cruising certainly wasn't on Celebrity - it was last year on a Silversea ship. Not one, but two individuals with accredited certifications. Service difference was like night and day.
  14. Might be worth a call to the "real" Private Journey desk to see what they have to say about the posting. Last # I have is 844-571-7851.
  15. Granted, it's been 3 years since we've done this, but at that time, Private Journeys were just that. They were never advertised with an itinerary. Rather, they were whatever we and the P.J. shorex folks could cook up that was 'do-able' and fun for a particular destination, and included only members of our own party. Seems they repurposed the name, or perhaps it's their IT crew at work again (sigh).
  16. I suspect that's because of this ... did you give it a try?
  17. "While he should have taken heed of your request..."
  18. While he should have taken heed of your request, there was the option, after the first attempt, of just leaving his toasting glass untouched on the table.
  19. To clarify the above, not all ships have "Horizon" suites. So we'll stick with one that does: For example, review the Royal here on Silhouette: https://www.celebritycruises.com/things-to-do-onboard/staterooms/suite-class/royal-suite Note presence of laundry and unlimited specialty dining. and then the Horizon: https://www.celebritycruises.com/things-to-do-onboard/staterooms/suite-class/horizon-suite and note the absence of those two items. You can review any of the features, perks and amenities of any of Celebrity's suites by using their web site.
  20. That's not the top four - exactly - it varies by ship. For your list, the tops are Royal and Penthouse. Quick way to tell the difference - look at the suite on Celebrity's web pages and see if specialty dining and laundry are included. If so, that's an 'upper' suite.
  21. The website really isn't very smart. It acts as though it doesn't know which package, if any, you already have, so I doubt there will be a way it could properly process an upgrade. Heck, it tries to sell me drinks packages and WiFi that already come with my cabin, and show up as $0 pre-purchased inclusions. I'd contact your TA or your Celebrity rep to do an upgrade. As you say, the only thing we ever see on the website is the full package price for one or the other.
  22. True enough. Seems like a lot of big wines made from Nebbiolo need a few years to take the edges off. I was happy to find that X was providing one of my favorites - 2016 Michele Chiaro Cerequio - on our last cruise with them. Will be interested to see what vintage they have on this next cruise. All of the recent ones have been outstanding.
  23. Had the head sommelier on Silver Dawn produce a 20 year old bottle of a Riesling Auslese whose structure was still holding it together (great acidity to accompany the sugar) that was in the process of doing that funky and wonderful conversion they go through before they head for a final downhill run. A long cellared Auslese is unobtanium on most cruise ships. Most cruise lines don't want to tie up money for that long on anything but a few rare reds.
  24. And while you're there, inquire about what Norwegian has for many years been calling their "Freestyle Dining" ( = no set times in the main dining room).
