  1. Thanks for acknowledging as not everyone does. Hoping your tour goes as well as ours did. Good or not so good, maybe you would be kind enough to post a few words about your experience as others may be interested for future Corfu port calls.?.
  2. Try the usual websites which appear when you search eg "Nafplio Tourist Information" or similar, also Tripadvisor, Frommer's Fodor, YouTube, Rick Steves etc. for restaurant reviews, and simply search for "wine tasting Nafplio" or "wine tasting tours Nafplio" should you want a tour As Nafplio isn't big I don't think you would need a walking tour as such, although you might want to consider a tour out of town. Google could become your new best friend.😀
  3. Easiest way to get info, especially for lesser known ports, is to read past threads. If you have not already searched for and read some, choose from the following (there are not many) https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=nafplio&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=463
  4. And thanks for acknowledging as not everyone does. note that Lindos was incredibly busy, actually uncomfortably so.
  5. Blue Puffin and North Cape Tours have been previously mentioned in threads. and there may be others if you internet search. Should you want to share with others, which may lower the cost, you could check your Roll Call to see if any fellow passengers have arranged a private tour and are looking for others like yourselves to share. Or plan one yourself and ask on the Roll Call if anyone wants to join you. And your ship will offer shorex.
  6. There are also a small number of very good museums (Prehistoric and Archaeological) located centrally in Fira/Thira showcasing artefacts and wall paintings/frescoes from the archaeological site of Akrotiri. Tthey are small, but should you have an interest, worth a short visit
  7. This is a copy of a post I submitted on a previous thread. Sorry but I have no recollection of the cost and we shared both ways. coty/paste We visited Lindos on our second visit to Rhodes. (First time we explored Rhodes Town)Shared a taxi with two others from our ship and picked it up a short walk away from the port at the square in town where many of them wait for fares. I think I remember it was a fixed price with a list showing fares to different locations. Coming back we had arranged to meet again and picked one up in the Main Square Lindos as the town itself is pedestrianised. We had to wait a few minutes for a taxi as they were in demand and it was busy.(ADDED NOW READ QUITE A FEW MINUTES, POSSIBLY BETWEEN !5 AND 30 before we got lucky) We didn't venture up to the Acropolis as it is a very steep hill and it was a really hot day. Enjoyed walking around town despite the crowds but fewer folks would have suited us better. Have you tried simply googling something like "taxi fare from Rhodes Town to Lindos"? If you have not already searched for and read any previous threads containing the word Lindos, you could choose from these https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=lindos&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=463
  8. We almost always self explore whichever ports we are visiting. Should you not get replies for english language organised walking tours, try internet searching something like " self guided walking tours of (name of port)") as these self guided tours often come with maps and descriptions and are usually easy to follow. We have also had succes with GYPSmyCity if St Malo is on their list. Only you can decide if Dinan offers more of interest to you than St Malo. Read about both and look at images to help you decide.
  9. this was raised in post #5, but for anyone tempted there was actually a thread on the topic and worth reading should you be planning an itinerary with Greenlandic ports. This one https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2995710-nanortalik-and-qaqortoq/#comment-67034720
  10. post #26 and the first link on it could be of interest to you.
  11. Forgot to "quote" you in post above, so just in case you are not "following" either, this to alert you to it.😀 A PS for anyone with Nuuk on their itinerary. Threads where the word NUUK can be found are here https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=nuuk&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=2705
  12. They are not mosquitos (flies) and do not bite but they can be irritating. They can also be found in Iceland. It is primarily luck whether you experience them or not, but some who did found the headnets helpful to wear.. This thread has multiple posts on the topic scattered throughout, also info and suggestions for Qaqortoq. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2812546-qaqortoq-greenland/ If you have not already searched for and read past threads for both Nanortalik and Qaqortoq,(the usual starting point for info) you could start with a few of these. Choose from Nanortalik https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=nanortalik&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=2705 Qaqortoq https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=qaqortoq&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=2705
  13. Now you only need browse the usual information websites to find the sights/attractions of most interest to you. The Official Nice Tourism website, Tripadvisor, Frommer's, Fodors, Rick Steves, Youtube and any others which appear in the results for "Nice France tourist information"😀
  14. SNAP!😁 https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/3018344-venice-authorities-propose-to-double-the-access-fee/#comment-67640304
  15. Good choice. Best location as there are many many hotels in all price ranges to choose from, restaurants the same, good public transport and a number of museums, and sights/attractions including markets and parks to visit. Check the usual websites for info and ideas before you arrive, also how to use public transport as the city is quite large and you may want to occasionally use it
  16. You didn't say, but I think Bari is used by MSC cruises so if sailing with them, for best results you could consider crossposting your hotel question on the MSC Frum as passengers who overnighted at the start or finish of an itinerary would be more likely to have used a hotel than other members who only ported for a day. This one https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/49-msc-cruises/ .
  17. to euros 10 pp from the current 5 euros pp as the current fee has failed to reduce tourist visitor numbers in the way they had hoped.
  18. AsiI mentioned previously, there have been a number of threads on the subject and I came across this current one a few minutes ago while browsing. If you have not already read it, it would be an interesting read for both you. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/3017563-need-advice-booking-cruise-to-norway-norwegian-govt-ban-on-cruising-unesco-heritage-fjords/#comment-67635193
  19. Should you decide that Bari itself doesn't offer enough for you, it is actually a "gateway" port to several interesting towns in Puglia, including Alberobello , Matera , Lecce, Ostuni and Trani, but that depends on how much time you will have and you didn't say. You could read online info about all of these, and others to help you decide.
  20. There are a few "non boat trip" suggestions in post #2 and no tour is actually needed as it is easily walkable with the HOHO and the little tourist train covering the hillier parts of town, but should you want to walk the "Iles Saguinnaires", you can simply take the local bus (#5)along the coast to its terminus at Parata(the same large parking area which is the last point for all transport) and walk from there before returning on the #5 bus. You could read reviews on Tripadvisor to help you decide. Re the National Park. On our first visit, a Sunday, we opted for a countryside shorex to the Prunelli Gorge area. Tours are very subjective, and although we quite enjoyed the Prunelli Gorge tour, I would not personally describe it as "unmissable", as it was mostly a driving tour with only a couple of photo stops, but everyone has different interests . On our second visit we stayed in town as we had not explored it the first time and enjoyed that day more than the tour day.
  21. Please do not liken Parc Guell with this one as they are totally different, and if expecting similar you will be disappointed. Parc de la Cuitadella is a city park with lots of trees, grass and paths with the monumental fountain being the #1 attraction for vistors. It is simply a pleasant place to escape the crowds, heat and noise of the city for a time, the very reason we visited.. Having said that, and noting your port call will be on a Sunday, expect parks and beaches to be much busier than weekdays as local residents escape the confines of their apartments in favour of open spaces on their days off. You will probably still find some tapas bars open on a Sunday, just fewer of them and possibly opening later in the day.
  22. yes and no. You are suggesting the OP look at very small ships and their itineraries, I suggested looking at itineraries followed by the ships which will sail them.
  23. Thanks for acknowledging as many don't. Yes, there are a number of past threads on this subject and as I think more folks will decide to sail Norway in 2025 before the 2026 changes, maybe book early should you decide to join them.😀
  24. Thinking you will need to try a more residential area of the city which is close enough to reach but quieter than the more touristic areas. Have you tried internet searching something like "best tapas Barcelona by neighbourhood", but that failing, play around with the wording until you get the results you are looking for. As for the city being crowded and hot, if you didn't visit during your stay, I can recommend the perfect place to go. Parc de la Ciutadella, the largest park in Barcelona. Tthere should be lots of info, images and reviews online.. Some nice walking areas, a small number of attractions, lots of shaded areas and a couple of spots where little boats can be hired, one of which is around the "Monumental Fountain" designed by Gaudi which is truly monumental and worth a look. We spent a very enjoyable 2 or 3 hours in this park, enjoying the shaded areas and the relative tranquility..😀
