I live in Trinidad. I do not know where Port Royal gets his info but its false. Bottle water is perfectly safe here. Like most Caribbean countries there is crime and places to go and not to go. Feel free to eat and you do not need to where gloves and change clothing etc. I live here and never did that in and out of my house and all is well.

I usually tell people take a taxi to Maracas bay beach. Its about a 40 to 45 minute drive that will take you over the Northern range through beautiful natural rain forest. You will then break through to great ocean views as you head down to the bay. While there you could swim and enjoy a world famous shark and bake sandwich. Andrew Zimmerman and Anthony Bordaine called it one of their best sandwiches.  On the way to Maracas ask your driver to take you past the magnificent seven for photo ops. See attached link for more info.

Do you know about the cost? Would have have an recommended drivers?

Cruise terminal to bottom cablecar station takes about 35 minutes on foot - no fun even for the tolerably-fit. There'll be taxis & vans at the cruise terminal and I imagine one would take you but as per Hank's post most will be offering Upper Rock tours.

The top cablecar station gives you glorious views (and there's a cafe there). The apes' (beg pardon, the Barbary Macaques') feeding station is a 250 yard walk, the skywalk a further 100 yards.

Alternatively an Upper Rock taxi / van tour involves very little walking but

    - they stop for a five-minute photo-stop at the Pillars of Hercules monument for southerly views over the Straits to Morocco

    - they stop for about 20 minutes at St Michael's cave, where there are steps down & back up - but if you don't want to enter there are great elevated westerly views over the Bay of Algeciras.

    - they stop for 15 - 20 minutes at the apes' den. By going up about 15 steps you get great elevated easterly views over the Mediterranean.

    - they stop for 15 - 20 minutes at the Great Siege Tunnels. No steps but a smooth sloping floor - you go as far in as you like. Vertical northern views down over the airport, the border and the Spanish mainland.

    - at the end of the tour the driver can take you back to the ship, or most folk choose to bale out in town at  Casemates Square / the northern end of Main Street - from there it's a 20 minute walk back to the ship or there's a taxi rank behind Casemates Square.

Difficult to advise which to choose, because I don't know the extent of hubby's mobility.

What is the cost of this tour please. Or the website. Thanks

I think the LFC open top bus tour would be perfect for you. It starts on the waterfront just along from where the cruise ships dock and you get a great commentary on the way to Anfield. It's inexpensive too. It's not running at the moment due to COVID restrictions but is supposed to be back very soon, you can keep checking this link:  www.lfccityexplorer.co.uk

If you decide to go by taxi, it will cost between £10 - £15 and take about 10 minutes. An Uber will be cheaper.

    Thank you!

Can’t speak to Liverpool, but Man City was much like visiting a famous stadium in the US. If you wanted a tour, you needed to plan ahead of time, to be there at the right time, but the stadium shop was accessible from outside, open regular business hours and had tons of merchandise including some exclusives.

    Thanks

At Anfield there's a huge gift shop selling everything related to LFC ... even beer and gin! 😄

That’s fun. Son in law would love the beer if we can take back to US. Do you know how long from cruise port to field, approximately? Appreciate all the help

  6. Do you also know a place to buy merchandise? Grandson is 9 with health problems but knows whole team, watches every game, and watches stats from all teams. He has all bedding, room painted red, banners, backpack, hats and jerseys. After last surgery had two casts on lower legs and  got red!

  7. We were on cruise before you. I also didn’t care for using app for everything. Took us awhile to figure out iPad for things in the room. Rain head shower was great but if I didn’t want my hair wet the wand thing in shower was very weird. I like all my stuff stored and had to leave many things on counters and desk. Agree staff is wonderful and food is best we ever had. Though might get mundane if on a long cruise.

  8. No one is allowed in the building until 12ish. We were coming from a Royal cruise and had email we could enter anytime so thought we could. Got to port and it was a cool 41 degrees and we stood outside on sidewalk till 12p. We were first in right after rock stars. Things inside moved very smoothly( we were at old terminal) but then we’re sent to holding area until a bit past 2. If I ever go again which is doubtful I won’t go until afternoon.

  9. We are diamond and have a cruise on the allure in two weeks. I noticed they have a 30% discount posted if you buy internet before you go. We get some type of discount onboard being diamond but is it cheaper to get it before we leave with the 30% off than wait? (Sorry I am asking this in the middle of a thread discussing when all ships will have voom but I rarely post and don't know how to start a new thread) We want the two device voom and stream package if that helps answer my question.... Thanks!![/Q

From what I am reading diamond better to buy before diamond + after. Can let you know in a week. I bought it for one device as grandson having surgery a couple of days before we leave and want to be in touch

  10. by that same token, suite pax who are NOT diamond are also finding it damn near impossible to get a seat in the CL. at least D+ have a fall back if the CL is packed. but Suite pax have no such luxury nor do they get the three drink vouchers nightly(unless of course they are D/+ in their own right)

SOMETHING has to be done to alleviate the overcrowding in BOTH lounges.

I have said it many times before: give the D+ the lounge exclusively and let Ds get their drinks via voucher., I'll even be nice and give them one free specialty coffee per day to forestall the inevitable b!tching about the loss of the coffee machine access.

By your "tone" I would take you are diamond plus or above. If they take the diamond lounge from us it will be the second time as second cruise after as diamond remove us from concierges lounge and now you are proposing it again
