  1. My Only experience has been in Bermuda, a few times. Usually Wednesday Morning through Friday afternoon. Someone posted about unexpected departures due to weather or other emergency, they make a good point. I have to admit I don't stay out in ports very late, and never even considered staying at a hotel ashore. I am cheap and if I am paying thousands of dollars for a cruise, I won't also pay for a hotel, I usually try to eat as often as I can on the ship. I guess I might miss out of full cultural immersion, but I feel the most comfortable on the ship, where there are more health standards, and it is paid for. .
  2. That is a little strange. When we were on the Getaway, the bar had normal drinks, and the special drink of the day. We usually stopped after dinner to try the special drink. The bartender's name was A J very friendly, made that part of the cruise special. I found of the drinks I really liked and he made it for a few days for me.
  3. I used to get my cards punched but lately have been told that they can't as it will ruin the card. I still use a lanyard but also have to use a plastic sleeve and fish the card out when I want a drink.
  4. Graze the salad bar, they have a great selection, then sit down and turn the little card to green and eat until a meat coma sits in. Then eat a very flavor able dessert.. No restrictions.
  5. Thanks everyone for all of the information, and the pictures. I am looking forward to trying a new venue. Nice to try something different, we have been to Cagney's, Teppenyaki, Moderno, and La Cuchina, many times, This trip will be our first experience with Q and Food Republic.
  6. It is also strange, where you have dots for each benefit, I have little check marks, although I was not able to cut and paste that part? Mysteries of the internet I guess.
  7. Dinner for Two at Cagney's or Le Bistro with a Bottle of Wine6 (per stateroom) Dinner for Two at Moderno or La Cucina6 (per stateroom)
  8. I looked in the chart where they list all of the platinum tiers, and little check marks listing the benefits that apply to each level. Under the meals it still lists the restaurants that apply to each coupon.
  9. We will be using one of our Free at Sea dinners at Food Republic.. This will be our first time eating there. I see there are several different courses, how does it work? Do you get one selection from every course or is there a $ limit?
  10. I saw that on You Tube this morning, However, I just logged in to my account, and went to the Latitude tier benefit tab, and it still indicates certain venues. Does your account show any venue, or specify certain venues?
  11. i always have my TA make my dinner reservations. Never wait til you are on board, you may not get where and when you desire. Does not matter how you are going to pay, until you enter the dining room. Platinum members will have a little pamphlet on the counter in your cabin. Look though everything there, it does not stand out, there are always a bunch of fliers don't throw anything away until you find it. If you look at the tier benefits section of the website, it will tell which restaurants the platinum benefit covers. Some ships have different specialty venues, those exceptions are listed on the bottom. Make sure you use the platinum coupon on those restaurants and the free at sea freebies for other venues.
  12. Just wondering if the NCL Joy has switched to the new non changing menu, or still uses the multiple menu rotation? We booked a cruise for May, and have always had a different menu each evening, but I read NCL was experimenting with one standard non changing menu.in the MDRs.
  13. I am on the Getaway for 7/23. One of the passengers doing a B2B, (7/16 and 7/23) says all senior management are not divulging the reasons behind the itinerary changes. You can see it on the 7/23 roll call.
  14. This is one of the NCL questions that gets asked frequently and everyone has their own opinion. As others have pointed out, "worth" is a relative term. What is "worth it" to me may be completely different to you. You must consider several factors: Do you want to select your own cabin. or would you be OK with having NCL select, if so Sail away rates are cheaper. When you go away froma Sail a way rate, that cost should be added to the "worth equation" Others will point out the specialty dining and drinks package are not really free, Paying this additional cost and the mandatory gratuities is a chunk of money. Are you satisfied with the MDR, or do you want to kick it up a notch for a few nights? How tight is your budget, are you OK spending extra to get Specialty dining and some drinks? How much will you drink, many drinks are $12-14 plus 18% gratuity, so they add up quick if you are paying. Bottom line, it is your vacation, your checkbook, and your choice. I will add that since the Free at See promotion has been available, I have sailed exclusively with NCL and taken the "free" perks, and enjoyed them. Cruising again in 6 days.Good Luck, and keep a positive attitude.
  15. I cruised in Sept of 2021, and saw ducks. Going again next week and wifey will be bringing some to hide, Hoping some kids find the ducks and keep as a souvenir. I will also be bringing plastic straws.
  16. Make your reservation however you wish. you don't have to specify how you are paying until you arrive. Then you have a choice of using your platinum coupons, your free at see perk, or pay for it.
  17. Yes, there will be a folder/pamphlet thingy on the counter and the coupons are in there, it is easy to miss. Open/read it all. We were platinum on the last cruise for the first time.having 4 free dinners each is pretty nice!
  18. It has been explained to me that the MDRs have either 14 or 21 different menus. I have found no way to predict which menu will be used on any given night. I always make my specialty dining reservations months in advance. SO, it is a matter of luck if you happen to be doing a specialty dining experience, when they offer something you really like in the MDR.I guess you could look at the MDR daily menu and then try to get a seat in specialty dining at the last minute, but I have never tried that. I have done a dozen cruises with NCL and don't recall a bad meal.I am not a food snob and grew up eating what was served to me. I did have one evening when there were several appetizers I wanted to try, and nothing that jumped off the page for an entree. So... I just ordered several apps for dinner. I do miss lobster night, have to admit, I used to look forward to them.
  19. The mandatory tips, should be automatically added to your invoice, as I recall it was $277 for 2 people for a 7 day cruise.
  20. Package works at all bars, and restaurants. The package also works on Great Stirrup Cay, but not on Harvest Cay.
  21. Just a reminder that if you are flying the tags may get damaged by airport luggage handlers, I wait to install them at/near the port, or at least bring a back up set. I also print an extra set to leave inside the luggage as a back up.
  22. We just received notification that the Getaway is Doing Amber Cove instead of Puerta Plata on the 7/23/22 sailing. I also posted in the roll call but very few people are following.I believe both ports are very close, so hopefully anyone that booked excursions can potentially still do the tour. I don't usually book excursions until I get on the ship, but I know many people do.
