  1. That's where I was sent when I got there around 10:30. My friends told me to expect it as they've done it twice. Probably just depends on how fast they can get people off the ship and through customs and they can open the dome for arrivals.

    Thanks for the info!

  2. If you get there early enough they will send you to the back of the Queen mary to check in.

    Huh...who knew??!?!?

In all of our cruises we have never checked in "off-site". How early are we talking?? We typically get to the ports by 10 - are we likely to be sent to the Queen Mary??

  3. First time cruisers....leaving on the Carnival Freedom 2/2.

DW and I love to travel, and purchase upgrades whenever possible as part of the experience.

I thought the $50 was super inexpensive for priority boarding!

....and immediate access to your cabin upon boarding - so that you don't have to haul around your carry ons! ;)

  4. We are going on the Miracle in February and I keep reading about Carnival's "early check-in" on the Queen Mary. Is that everyone - or just those staying on the Queen Mary??

We are staying at the port - but not on the Queen Mary....so I am just trying to figure out how it works!

    Thanks.

  5. They told us we were eligible to go to the VIP lounge right off, then the next person said no. We didn't really want to sit in there but DH was thirsty but I wouldn't let him go in there until we had clarification. About that time they started to board (Miami) and FTTF and Platinum boarded together. In fact we were some of the first ones just out of dumb luck we were sat near the escalator.

What is wrong with a diamond enjoying and celebrating they love FTTF? I don't get the problem with that.

We'll never be platinum but due to health issue I cannot roll around luggage and I need to be able to lay down when I need to lay down so we pay the 50.00 so I can do that.

Umm...that's not what I said.

What I said was that FTTF guests pushed past Platinum and Diamond guests (to board sooner) "celebrating" that they were FTTF and how great it was....

My only point in posting at all was to clarify that often the FTTF board with or before the Platinum and Diamond guests - that's all.

  6. Let's see, you get on before the FTTF group so unless you walk really slow and the FTTF people sprinted I don't see how you could get trampled :) Heck, before FTTF you would have been trampled by that pesky first boarding group that went on after you .

Those that purchase it don't get a t-shirt that says haha I paid for FTTF and you didn't. At least I didn't see where they sold it, so there might be one.

I am really upset now that I would have to pay for FTTF to get the perks but I don't get laundry or BOGO slots....not fair

I guess you are also upset that those silly people who get suites get to board early too...dang them. Wait! They board the suites after you go....they must have trampled you on the way on the ship, sorry about that it might have been me.

That certainly was NOT the case on either of our Breeze cruises - which are our only Carnival experiences with FTTF.

FTTF folks were waiting in the VIP lounge with the Platinum and Diamond guests and MANY boarded before us. Some pushing their way past us and a couple who were Diamond whooping it up about how great FTTF was! :(

So I do understand the OP's frustration with the "game" as it was referred to in a previous post!

  7. We missed out on "The Call" today - Carnival rep called this afternoon and left a voicemail about an available suite upgrade/upsell for our sailing on Sunday and of course they call our home number and we were at work and missed it!! :(

Don't know if we would have taken it but this was our first call in 3 Carnival cruises....would have been fun to play the game. Lol. Oh well left a message and we will try her again in the am but I'm sure it's long gone by now!

Call Carnival tonight.....no need to wait until tomorrow!

  8. It would seem only fair that you SHOULD be able to count on having the cabin you booked, provided you are not in one of the situations the others mentioned here, but it can happen. You can be moved if they deem the move to be an upgrade. To avoid this you should have your travel agent put a notation of "no upgrades, no changes" on the booking. We have faced a similar situation in the past, and found we had been "upgraded" from our chosen cabin. We did not want that upgrade as we were near friends. Our TA had to contact the cruise line and fight for our cabin back. We got it, and we now always ask her to put the "no upgrade" notation on our bookings for us ever since then.

Good point...we do the same thing as we book aft wraps and that's what we want! ;) :D

  9. Only time they can change your cabin is if you book a handicapped cabin, and you aren't (per se), or if you book a cabin for three or four and you are two!:)

Doesn't happen often, but I've heard of it happening....:p Rarely...

We had a cabin booked on Glory last year and got moved to a higher level because they decided to make all the balconies on the panorama deck for two, not three. So it can happen....

But the OP would be contacted/notified in either of those cases. They are not going to just "change" the cabin on them. ;)

  10. I know I read about upsell and upgrade fairies....but this will be our first time in a balcony and DH floored me when he picked which one. I was given the option of three cabins to pick from and I picked the best one. It states the cabin number on our documents....so they won't change it on us right? I don't think I would want any upgrade or upsell even if it WAS free. Call me crazy but the more I research the cabin the more I'm in love with it. So just wondered when I was reading about upgrade and up sells. Thanks!!

Just curious....which ship did you choose??

Correct! The cabin should not change - without your permission.

Congrats on your choice - sounds like it was a good one! ;) :D

  12. Agree with the others, deck 4 VS are the best cabins in the fleet. Not only do you have a full overhang, but the railing is nearly verticle which provides use of the entire deck (decks above have a sloped railing). There is a laundry room across the hall from 4228 if you need it, and two doors down is a door that will lead down to deck three outside. The MDR is down one flight of stairs, and the aft elevator drops you off between the Serenity and the buffet. 4237 is the mirror image of 4228, but for some reason 4228 has always been our first choice.

We've been just the opposite - for no good reason. So we went with 4228 this time - for something "different". ;)

  14. Thanks. Mom had looked but couldn't find the info.

We are sailing on the 26th so we'll make sure to use them up then. Have no idea how many she has.

LOL...I bumped in to it over the weekend - looking for something else!! ;)
