  1. Hi, We'll be flying into LAX for the first time and will be using their wheelchair assistance. When we get off the plane I know they will take you to the baggage claim area. Is that as far as they will go? We will be arranging for limo or black uber service and I know we need to go outside and across a street to a waiting area. I was told that there is no seating there for while you wait for pickup. I don't know if my DH will be able to stand that long. Any advice? Thanks.
  2. When you pull up to give your baggage to the porter, find the people with the wheelchairs. They will come right over to assist your DH and escort you both thru security and check in. They will then turn you over to a Princess employee who will take you up the gangway and wherever on the ship you want to wait until the rooms are ready. We use this for my DH as he has problems standing and walking up ramps. There is a separate line for security and checkin for those in a wheelchair. pr
  3. Thanks, ok for us, I watched a travel agent YouTube video. She got an annoucment from Princess. They are not grandfathering anyone in as far as the new add ons go, not getting the fancy desserts, exercise classes etc. You will have to upgrade to the new price if you want those.
  4. Jinpasco - are you on the 12/18 Panama Canal. If so, see you on board!
  5. I pack several pods in a plastic travel soap dish, no mess if one breaks. Also several dryer sheets in a small zip lock bag.
  6. Hopefully this will spread to other ships as well.. We splurged on an aft facing full suite for our January '23 Panama Canal cruise on thee Emerald and I am really concerned that we will not be able to use our balcony because of the cigarette stench. It will also open up the promenade deck for full walk around.
  7. We last cruised from SF in July and also several times before covid. When we got out of the taxi there were several people with wheelchairs waiting to assist. They took my husband into the terminal and thru securtity and check in. There was a separate line for handicapped in security and also one for check in. They then escorted us to a waiting area to hand us over to a Princess employee who wheeled my husband up the gangway and onto the ship and to wherever on the ship you wanted to go. It was greatly appreciated as my husband can't stand for any length of time and the incline on the gangway is too much. We usually get to the port around 11AM. Hopefully it will all work out for you.
  8. Guess we'll be going back to the basic fare. The new additions don't interest us.
  9. I don't think so, I booked directly with them and their boats were small and would take 6 at most. We did see a much larger boat that Princess used and there were probably a dozen people in the water at one time with more waiting to go in. Our captain was very careful around the whale sharks, as was our guide.
  10. I did this several years ago (pre-covid) thru LA Paz VIP tours. It was probably the best excursion I have ever done. Small boat, there were only 3 of us. Our guide, Anna, was great. We snorkeled with a whale shark and then with sea lions. Check out their website lapasviptours.com. I would definitly do it again.
  11. Same problem - 2 weeks out; have been trying with no luck.
  12. It might be easier to use the street cars to go from hotel to Embarcadero. All at street level and you can catch it right across Market Street from the hotel.
  13. I love to go to SF - so much to do. I would suggest that if you go to Alcatraz that you book the first ferry over in the morning. Fewer people on the island and the return ride shouldn't be as crowded. As philob suggested I would get a multi-day transit pass, much less expensive. One ride on the cable car is now $8.00. Unlimited rides with the pass. I like Pier 39 (yes, I know it is a tourist trap but I am a tourist) and watching the sea lions there. Happy Anniversary and have a great time!
  14. We're doing B2B on the Emerald 12/18-1/17/23. It looks like they've removed Nicaragua just thru the end of 2022 for now. Our travel summary for 12/18 says it was removed "due to temporary government restrictions on cruise ships".. Perhaps Nicaragua is only doing thar thru the end of 2022. The port stop still shows for our 1/2/23 segment.
  15. It's kind of strange - we're doing a B2B Panama Canal leaving LA on 12/18/22 - the stop at San Juan del Sur was cancelled and changed to a sea day. It shows as an itinerary change on travel summary. On the return leg, (1/2/23) the port is still showing and nothing mentioned on the summary. Guess we'll just wait and see.
  16. The good thing about getting it at the IC is there is a bar next to it for a shot of Bailey's or Peppermint Schnapps.
  17. We're doin Pamama Canal B2B, the port shows cancelled for the 12/18/22 (port day was 12/25) portion but not the return portion on 1/2/23. (port day 1/10/23).
  18. We're on the 1/2/23 Panama cruise and had an excursion there cancelled as well. (the one to the ruins). I was really looking forward to it, nothing else caught my fancy. Might just make it a beach day, there's on at the end of the pier.
  19. I do that as well. Love going shopping after that gift card comes.
  20. We'll be cruising out of there on Princess in December. Did you have to arrange for a wheelchair assist in advance? My husband has some moblility issues and needs help up the long gangway onto the ship and also can't stand for longer than a minute in a line. Thanks
  21. Hi zarajoy, if you look under Special Interest Cruising and then under Disabled Cruising there is a whole thread on cruising with a Service Dog. Good luck and happy cruising.
  22. Same with us, would take CC if it had a covered balcony. We do a suite if we can swing the cost, otherwise a regular mini with a covered balcony.
