  1. Yes that’s what the rep said, at some point they will become available but he had no idea when
  2. Oh really? The “Best of Scandinavia” on the Silhouette? Good to hear you enjoyed it. I’m trying to decide between that cruise and a cruise to Iceland, but that’s the subject for a different thread I have going.
  3. I hadn’t thought of that. The cruise is very port intensive (12 days, 6 ports, one overnight) and it’s on Celebrity so I thought there may not be that many kids. But it is the summer in Europe so there probably will be lots of families. Certainly something to consider, thanks
  4. The sailing is to cities, no fjords, and departs from Rotterdam. I hadn’t considered the fact that school is still out in Europe. That is something to certainly think about. I’m just surprised with the number of verandas that can be booked only by 3+. I counted them last night. Over 100! I just hadn’t ran into this before.
  5. We are considering a trip to Iceland on the Celebrity Silhouette in August. Currently we are booked in an aft facing sunset veranda. How are the views when approaching the ports? Much better than a veranda on either the port or starboard side? We are considering upgrading to an Aqua stateroom but don’t want to give up the sunset veranda if the view will be great
  6. I called celebrity and spoke with 2 different reps. As usual the first was not helpful. However the second rep gave me some insight into what’s going on. Apparently, due to the large increase in demand in recent months, they have been blocking off a number of rooms and restricting them to 3 or more guests in order to take advantage of all available space and accommodate more guests. When I asked if those rooms will at some point be released for 2 people bookings he said it’s possible but he had no idea when. He suggested I continue to monitor the website
  7. I am considering an August 2024 sailing to Scandinavia aboard the Silhouette. It’s just 2 of us. On the website when I chose 2 guests there are no veranda cabins available and the sailing looks almost completely sold out. However if I change the number of guests to 3, then there are tons of verandas available. obviously they rather book the room for 3 rather than two and get the additional revenue. I’m just surprised that so many rooms are slated for that purpose. Is that the norm? It is just 2 of us traveling. Will these rooms be released for booking for 2 as the final payment day gets closer? Anyone experience this?
  8. Thank you. I think we will do both if we select this cruise. I’ve been researching both cruises and there is a wealth of information. Managing the stops on the both seem to be very doable. I am so torn between both. They both seem really fantastic. I vacillate between the two several times a day. It really might come down to a coin toss
  9. Thank you. If we decide to do the Scandinavia tour we probably will not take the long ride into Berlin and will opt instead to stay in warnemunde and or take the train to Rostock. Glad to learn it’s easy to do.
  10. It may come to that lol. If you had never done the Best of Scandinavia trip before, knowing what you know now, would you have chosen it over Iceland if at the time you could only choose one?
  11. The problem is that I like it all! I love natural beauty and stunning visas, but I also love cities for their history, architecture and culture. Unfortunately I can’t do both trips. I realize I’m so fortunate to be able to go on any so I’m trying to choose wisely. I’ve been to Europe a few times but never to theses areas. Having been there and done that, which would be your first choice and why? I know it’s all so subjective but I’m interested in your assessment
  12. Thank you. The issue is that I like it all!! I can’t say I favor one over the other. I absolutely love seeing new things in any setting. I’m sure I’ll love either of the cruises we select. I wish I could afford both.
  13. Thank you. I know it would be a very long ride into Berlin, so the port city is definitely an option. The other stops on the Scandinavia cruise seem have easy access to the city centers. Such a hard decision ( a nice problem to have)
  14. Thank you. What makes it hard is that I’m interested in everything! I have never been to any of these ports other than Cork and Waterford. My travel companion has not been to any. Have you been to Iceland before and are comparing it to the ports in The Scandinavia cruise?
  15. Not sure where to post this question. Trying to decide between these two cruises. The Iceland cruise includes 2 days in Ireland ( Waterford and Cork) the ports in Iceland are AKUREYRI, ISAFJORDUR, REYKJAVIK. the “Best of Scandinavia” ports are: Berlin, GDYNIA, VISBY, Tallann, Stockholm, and Copenhagen. Has anyone done either of these cruises? Anyone has done both? What would you choose? Thanks
  16. Thanks for the info. I don’t think we will be having every meal with the non suite guest, but I’m glad we can pay for her to join us occasionally. I will definitely talk to the maitre d as soon as we board and ask him for suggestions as to what time would be best.
  17. I agree. Do you happen to know if we can have our non suite companion join us on embarkation day as well as long as we pay the fee and there is availability?
  18. Count me in as interested as well. On previous cruises I have found the food in Blu and Luminae more to my liking than MDR, especially on more recent cruises where there seems to be cutbacks in portion size, variety and quality. I’m not a foodie, but my cabin mate is, hence the upgrade to suites on our upcoming Eclipse sailing, just so that we can eat at Luminae. However our third travel companion is not upgrading and we don’t want to exclude her, so I expect we will either be hosting her at Luminae for meals or joining her at the MDR. Anyone with recent experience at Luminae on Eclipse?
  19. Good to know. Thank you. We are going to be on the Eclipse, hopefully that is better? to the OP, I’m sorry if I’m hijacking your thread.
  20. It is a collapsible scooter. I looked into the Heidi website and it sounds great but the tours are 6 hours and I think that is too long for her.. ( she has an underlying illness) I will look into the taxis as well as the other link someone else posted. Thank you
