  1. Wow I didn't know there were still cruise lines limiting internet by the minute.
  2. Just go to connect.com and log in, it will boot anybody else off who is using it at that time.
  3. Sunrise, Sunshine, and Radiance all have essentially the same guest capacity, so the only way one could be more crowded than the other is just down to the passenger mix on that particular cruise. Namely, how many upper berths are sold.
  4. You my friend are living the dream.
  5. wow enjoy it! Especially living in Florida. If I lived in Florida and got those offers they’d have to kick me off the ship! 🤣
  6. Did you do a status match with land-based casinos to get these offers? I have never heard of people getting free rooms just out of the goodness of Carnival's heart.
  7. Yes it's legitimate...many of us on here cruise this way and have for years... The real fun comes when you cruise for free (minus tips and taxes as you mentioned) and get free drinks and funplay credits in the casino - you literally get paid to cruise...
  8. Yes I've seen them in that area as well on several of my cruises. It's one of those things that's going to take somebody getting hurt or a scooter getting damaged before the rule is actually enforced I suppose.
  9. Scooters aren't supposed to be in the halls. That is a rule and should be common sense.
  10. The sheets at coffee shop etc are just a listing of daily activities and open times. It doesn't have all the info that used to be in the funtimes.
  11. goccl is Carnival's travel agent site...if a TA doesn't know about that site, they have no business selling Carnival cruises...
  12. in case it is not obvious, if you want to iMessage people on the ship they'll need an internet plan as well.. Carnival also offers a "Chat" function in the HUB app which sometimes doesn't really work that well, but it's $5 for the duration of the cruise. You don't have to buy internet to use it. Just pay $5 and you can chat with anyone else who paid the $5. Each individual you want to Chat with on HUB app will have to pay their own $5 to do it.
  13. Everything on this site is people's opinion. I figured that would be obvious. Carnival and especially the Lido buffet certainly ain't a Sandals or Beaches, which is OP's frame of reference.
  14. yeah Carnival's wifi really isn't worth it to me at its current price. Back when the social plan was $5/day it was much easier to justify. Nowadays there is nothing on the internet I need that bad, personally. I can usually find a spot with free wifi in port, or my cell carrier offers roaming overseas so I use that...etc.
  15. Without buying an internet plan, you can use the Hub app and access carnival.com and a few other sites like cdc.gov. You can't send text messages with any plan. Text messages go over the cellular network. You will be billed by your cell carrier for every text message you send. If you want to use social media apps, look at the social plan. You can easily upgrade plans at any time if the plan you buy doesn't give you what you want.
  16. Carnival is pretty much the bottom of the barrel as far as cruising goes right now. They've cut every aspect of the experience. Food is subjective but I think most will agree it's nowhere near as good as it was before COVID. The breakfast buffet on my last Carnival cruise was in a word disgusting. You just check-in on the app when you want to eat with anytime dining and you get a pop-up when your table is ready. Generally the kids clubs don't run over supper so your kids will eat with you. Carnival is cheaper for a reason...especially on an older ship like the Liberty...just want you to know what you're getting. I still like Carnival's product for what it is. But it's not the special vacation it used to be.
  17. I don't know about 2012 but I remember credit card holds being discussed in the funtimes more recently - like early 2020 before COVID. It may also have been discussed in other paperwork that used to be delivered to the stateroom...
  18. I think even a lot of smokers would agree with that. As a former smoker I certainly agree.
  19. Well the Sunshine's Serenity area is fantastic. The rest of the ship is haphazard and sub-par, especially the Limelight Lounge, Lido Buffet area, and the added staterooms did those areas no favors.
  20. Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I definitely recognize the restart was a different time.
  21. Just curious, I wonder what they'd say if you handed them a $5 instead of a bottle of lotion. Genuinely asking I am not beating you up. I can definitely see your point. When cruising first started back everything was in flux and I'm sure they had to stretch supplies thin.
  22. Each Excel ship is $1Bn plus. Carnival is over $30Bn in debt and still not profitable. There won't be any new Carnival (Carnival Corp I mean, not just Carnival cruise line) ships for quite some time once their current obligations are satisfied. For the Luminosa, they basically just wire-wheeled COSTA off the side of the ship and called it good. They didn't even have the money to put Guy's Burgers, their most popular food concept of the past decade, on the ship. I agree they need new ships. Their fleet looks really sad compared to lines that were building what were basically Excel class ships 20 years ago. The bad news is, that's only going to get worse because they can't afford new ships and they can't afford to radically renovate their old ships. Carnival's only option is to compete on price with outmoded ships.
  23. Back in the day the funtimes used to explain this. I don't know where this information is nowadays that the funtimes doesn't exist. I guess it's on the app somewhere where nobody ever goes.
  24. Such a shame! The last time I was on Sunshine, September 2022, you could still get orange juice in the MDR for at least sea day brunch. I doubt very seriously it was fresh squeezed but it tasted fine to me, like Tropicana. Not the Donald Duck stuff you mix down with water, I'm pretty sure. The cutbacks are coming too quick even for me to keep up. The syrup they serve on Lido is disgusting to me. Actually the entire breakfast buffet was disgusting.
