I can see your point if MDR menu is not an option in E-class Luminae.

On Summit we ordered from all three menus including Blu.

I would try the corn soup since Abby raved about it on Beyond last week.

The short rib and coconut dessert sound promising.

i wonder what the theme was in OVC tonight?😅

Sadly, the MDR menu is not an option…as you said. But I think we will try one of the MDRs. The offerings are much more to my liking, not to mention the increased variety. Not sure what’s up with grilled octopus but it seems to be popular across all dining venues on our sailing 🤮

That's a wrap on my Alaska planning adventure! Feel free to ask any questions and thanks for following along and cheering us on! We really had an amazing time.

Thank you for this thread.  It has been most helpful and informative.  We embark for Alaska on Friday and I have benefitted greatly from your leg work.  This thread should be a sticky at the top of the page for all newbies like me to learn from.  Again, thank you!

One thing I don't like is how they describe it as being out of Orlando (not that they don't mention Canaveral as well).  Those of us familiar with the area know that is just not so.  I feel bad for any international or other less traveled passengers who possibly don't realize the challenges when they book.

All that said, I'm sure once we're onboard we'll have a great time as always!

No different from saying Rome when they mean Civitavecchia or Venice when they mean Ravenna...but I get what you're saying.  You have the right attitude and I have no doubt that you will handle the hurdles and have a great cruise.

We are about to jump over a few hurdles ourselves as we fly out to Seattle this week.  I've read the airport is a nightmare...not sure what to really expect...can it be worse than navigating Hartsfield-Jackson?  We shall see...

My recollection was that the Signature suites initially did not include the upper suite benefit.

It's a good call on Celebrity's part to include the upper suite benefits.  I would not book this suite without them as it's not too much more to book a RS and you get nearly double the square footage.  At one point I read the Celebrity dropped the upper suite benefits but I guess that was just a nasty rumor...for now.

Most nights in the theater they had areas roped off for the Premium Access guests but not Retreat guests. The only reserved seats for Retreat guests were for the 2 production shows. It wasn't a problem but I found it interesting that suite guests paying a lot more had less priority.

huh...interesting.  We have a 10 night deluxe ocean view room booked on Beyond later this year.  I have considered adding the PAP for the wifi upgrade but the pass is pricey for a 10 night cruise and must be purchased for both guests...still it comes out to be a better deal than the Retreat...didn't figure it would take priority though.

Signature suites are above Royal Suite and below PH so yes get specialty dining, liquor and laundry.

Ah, good to know!  I assumed they were below the RS because they are smaller and lack the wet bar or half bath.  Thank you!

  7. Viking wants their final payment virtually upfront. We booked and then canceled because they wanted final payment 30 days after the deposit for a cruise that was over a year out. Wasn’t willing to tie our money up that way. And like Retreat, it’s pricey.

Our dear friends, ages 55 and 57 sail them exclusively and enjoy the vibe. They lean towards the party side of things but the ship vibe is more upscale country club… in their view.

Oh and there’s no casino, if that matters.

Was asking if Signature suite gets complimentary access to Persian Gardens?  It says Royal Suite and above…Signature is a level below I believe.  Thanks.

Oh gotcha!  Sorry, I was confused but yes, I think Signature is lower but it gets the included specialty dining and bottles of liquor so I just wondered. We are in the Signature suite in July so I guess we will find out.

  9. Sorry this happened and I understand your disappointment. Charters happen more often than one might think. Why not shop around for a different cruise?  You’re still going to have something special to celebrate!  There are so many cruise lines out there…and there’s plenty of time to hook another.

It's a great port experience just a logistics nightmare for fliers.

Have to agree...I would not want to fly into Orlando and then shuttle or Uber to the port...it's not nearly as close as Ft. Lauderdale or Miami are to the cruise terminals.  It is very convenient for those of us who are close enough to drive though.

  11. You should not stress about this.  You will be contacted by your shoreside concierge prior to embarkation at which time you can specify where you'd like to dine and when.  They will make the reservations for you.  If something changes after you board, either the Retreat concierge or your butler can adjust for you.

  12. Thanks for posting the full list of inclusions.  I don't see any mention of upper suites having access to the thermal suite as mention earlier in this thread.  Are these inclusion notices stateroom category specific?

  13. SerraG it sounds like you are off and running!  Thanks for the pic of the Luminae menu.  The lobster roll appears to have too much mayo for my liking so will pass on that.  How nice you were able to snag a window view for your lunch!  And your stateroom looks lovely.  I noticed a lounger on your balcony, which is nice to see.

Question:  how has the indoor temperatures been in the public spaces?  A reviewer from last week indicated it was quite warm.  This intel has thrown my packing into a tail spin.

Enjoy your first port of call!

They did not give up the extras perks and the space of the high suite during the day just slept in the regular suite at night then the $5000 future credit.

I believe this is the sticking point as a FCC assumes one wants to cruise with the line again.  OP has been clear that they do not wish to sail on Regent again so the FCC is useless to them.

We are in an entry level suite (deluxe verandah) on Grandeur next spring.  I have considered upgrading us but I think we will stay put.  This is not the first account I've read about problematic rooms on Grandeur.  It's concerning, for sure.  But seems to be isolated to more expensive accommodations (at least that's what I'm telling myself)...ironic, to say the least.
