  1. You may get free champagne at the art auction or the jewelry stores. Or a free bottle if y you book at next cruise. Some ships have a free liquor tasting on the first night.
  2. You'll see a lot of light houses going into Portland and leaving. You can check with the purser's office what time you will be passing them. I prefer taking pictures in the morning when is slowing down as opposed to evening when it is speeding up.
  3. I did it last year in October. Many shops in Bar Harbor and Halifax were already closed for the season. And for what it's worth, we were in Bar Harbor on a Sunday.
  4. Try Becky's. It's an old fashioned, nothing fancy diner about a half mile from the cruise port on the water.
  5. Don't forget that free drinks go from 4 to 5.
  6. I was there in May also. No free tastings , just a very small Pina colada taste. But you can but 50ml minis in the liquor stores in town if you want to sample it that way.
  7. Does anyone know if Capt Ban will stick with the Anthem when she relocates to Singapore, or might he switch to the Odyssey?
  8. I was on the 5/21 sailing with a group of 16 people. Venues that had trivia and karaoke were very crowded, standing room only. It was not worth going to these activities. The WJ was too crowded during breakfast and lunch. We looked for alternative areas such as JR's for breakfast.
  9. I wouldn't worry about vodka, I don't think any are above that amount. Wine definitely has many above $14.
  10. I fully agree. I actually called out a casino bartender who put coconut rum in it. Her supervisor got involved, tasted it, and said she was wrong.
  11. They will make veggie burgers on request. My wife asked for turkey burgers A month ago and was told they don't have them.
  12. I used Viator a few years ago. They had multiple stops and it was quite enjoyable. Just make sure the driver knows you are on a cruise and have to be back at a specific time.
  13. Weather happens. No one can predict. But the cruise line will not sail on a hurricane. They may rearrange the ports of call, skip a port, or worse case scenario, you'll have a 12 day Caribbean cruise.
  14. That's a great idea, but the bartenders don't follow the recipes. I was on the Oasis three weeks ago and ordered mai tais from 10 different bars, and each was different. I questioned two bartenders and they said it's up to the bartender how they make it, that recipes are a suggestion.
  15. Thanks...My wife is in a scooter so I'm looking to get as much info as possible.
  16. I'm doing a B2B on the Library this September. Has anyone done this on this ship from Bayonne? I'm just interested in the process. We'll be in the same room. Will we be getting a repeat cruiser lunch? But please, don't tell me how it's done in other ports, that doesn't help me.
  17. Pricing is between 15-20 dollars. It's about a 45 ride up Casco Bay. The train runs hourly. Just Google Portland train ride.
  18. I did a family vacation with 5 families two weeks ago. No one cared when we boarded. And no one cared if we got on together or not.
  19. Are you all arriving in the same vehicle? If not, what does it really matter?
  20. They accumulated your points until they turned 18. For example, if you had 50 points when they turned 18, that would be their starting point. If they earned 25 points since turning 18, their current total should be 75.
  21. We've probably been on the Anthem at least 20 times since she's been sailing from NJ. And have 4 more planned before she leaves. We also sail on Carnival and NCL. No complaints on the product. We just love Capt Ban. If you don't, sail on another line. The choice is yours. As far as I know , no one is twisting your arms to sail on Royal.
  22. The walk from the ship to where the tours depart is a 5 to 10 minute walk, at least a quarter mile, but less than a half mile. I don't think Royal provides wheel chair service. Perhaps you can rent a wheel chair and have it available when you need it.
