Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Just got off Quantum on a 17 night TP from Hawaii to Brisbane. I've been highly critical of RC over my past 2-3 cruises dating back to our first one after the pandemic. Let me tell ya folks...RC hit it out of the park with this one. It was fabulous. Food in every venue was very good, service was 5 star. The ship was awesome. I have nothing bad to say about it at all. Restored my faith in RC, at least for now. Next up....Icon in Feb 2024. I expect the same or even better.
  2. Very true, but you do need to have an actual US Embassy be in that country you're in. Not every country has a physical embassy in it. That was my point. And after saying that I checked and I was wrong, so I will go back to keeping my mouth shut and fingers idle.
  3. You don't say where the cruise is going (Unless I missed it). The only problem I see not taking the passport is if, by chance, you get left at a foreign port for any reason you would need that passport to get out or at least access to the US Embassy in that country, if there is one. That is what my TA told me once when I had a similar question.
  4. What about pre cruise testing on a trans-pacific from Hawaii to Brisbane? Is that still required?
  5. The Mount Rushmore of horrendous IT/Web site management contains Royal Caribbean as a charter member. In fact, they are the founder of the monument. Been cruising RC for over 20 years now and to this day they still have the absolute worse web site run by the absolute worse IT department. Are you aware RC just recently became aware of the 9.6 dial up modem? <Sarcasm>. I am just relived that the actual ships are built and run by people that don't work in the IT department. They would build the hull out of screen door material. <More sarcasm>
  6. I booked my first NCL cruise for September 2024. At the time I added the "Buy one air fare, get the 2nd one free" through NCL. Since than I have read nothing but horror stories from people who did the same, including yours. Almost no good stories, just terrible experiences, time after time. I called NCL this past weekend and cancelled the air part of the cruise. I don't need the stress and grief I feel would be coming had I stayed with it. Sorry, this doesn't help your current problem, what happened to you really stinks. Hearing your grief just re-affirms my decision to cancel the air.
  7. Doable? Probably. Stressful? Man, you have no idea. You have to get off the boat quickly, get your luggage, make it through customs, get your ride to the airport, check luggage in, get through security and get to your gate all at a airport you might be unsure about. THAT'S if it all goes perfect. I wouldn't do it. Quite often I won't fly out til the next day, I get a hotel near the airport and just chill. A lot less stress and worry to do that.
  8. You know where I've had the best luck????? Twitter, by far. They are responsive plus they get back to you fairly quickly and can solve most problems or answer most questions. DM them at @CelebrityCruise. Be sure to give your name and reservation number when contacting them. When I say DM I mean private message them, don't post to their open forum. You don't want your info going out to the entire world.
  9. Better check again, Giovanni's Kitchen most certainly does.
  10. We kept waiting for the Jewel of the Seas Artic Circle out of Amsterdam to Boston in August of 2024 to post. It's been sitting in drafts for weeks. I finally got fed up waiting and started looking around and found a Iceland, Greenland, and Norway on NCL in September of 2024 that was far more exciting to my tastes. The price, with all the perks was a lot better than the price RC was offering for the August 2023 Artic Circle cruise, which I was using for comparison. I'm just not going to be exclusive to RC anymore, to me, they have kinna burned that bridge.
  11. I'll start off by saying that cruising is my favorite form of vacation and I don't see that changing. I'll also say I have been exclusive to RC since 2002. I would not even consider using another cruise line in all that time. Because of that we have risen to D+. Over the past few years both my wife and I have noticed a small but steady decline in quality on RC, even pre pandemic. Just seems a tad bit worse with each cruise. We use to enjoy the specialty restaurants but have decided not to partake anymore after my last 3 rib eyes at Chops were almost thinner than minute steaks. Giovanni's has become a wine and pizza joint, and a not very good one at that. After our experiences the past few years the wife and I decided to do what RC seems to have done, toss the loyalty out the window. We are trying out a NCL cruise in 2024. Frankly, the ports were better and the price (with perks) was a lot better than anything RC offered. Sorry this is so long winded, figured it was a good place to vent a little.
  12. It's a long time honored tradition of RC (Who owns CC) to instantly take your money for purchases but drag their feet in refunding your money. Refunds can take anywhere from 14 business days (For smaller stuff) to up to 2 months for refunding a cruise. Keep checking and stay vigilant. Good luck!!!!
  13. Does anybody here know what is going on with the App for the New Zealand Visa? Whenever I try to open it I either get "Network busy" or "Unexpected error, try again later". I have contacted the apps developer but have not heard back from anyone yet. I figured I would try here and see if anyone else was having the same trouble.
  14. I didn't say you need have the cup to get soda. I said you need have the cup to get soda from the machines. I too have done this many times over the past years.
