Went into Napier on the free shuttle bus. Did a bit of shopping. Will do a day tour of some sort when I'm back in a couple of weeks without mum
We loved Napier the last time we were there, pity it was a really short stop that time ☹️
This time we are planning just the City Drive & Aquarium in the morning, leaving plenty of time to explore again by foot after. Such an interesting little place.

Not a full list but yes,
Good to see that there has been traffic and it isn't just some kind of total denial for whatever reason.
Though it does seem odd to have a string of denials so close together?

If they actually do have one my bet would be the first sea day. The last sea day would be the night before disembarkation and I have only ever come across one formal night before disembarkation and hope to never see another.
The Adelaide stop usually a turn around port as well for the SA based cruisers.

Which ships (if any) have actually done the Fiordlands this season?

Say hello when your onboard
Look forward to meeting you both.
How is the internet holding up on board? It must have gotten a work out on the sea days over.

Ship is very quiet
When you say the ship is quiet do you mean it doesn't seem to be at full capacity or literally quiet?

It will save me a fortune in pearls each time we go to Lyttelton instead of Akaroa 😃

We were on a tour from Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge, and the driver did not shut up for the whole trip while narrating the tour to everyone over the mic, all about Aussies not leaving tips. After the tour, I told him I didn't want to disappoint him by leaving a tip, and his narrative was offensive, obnoxious and otherwise spoilt a great day in the national park. It is the only time I have never left an appropriate tip while travelling overseas.
It is times like this that I had started carrying some appropriate tips for the kind folk we encounter when traveling abroad.
It is interesting to see the reactions you get when they get a tip of a couple of thousand Iraqi Dinars or a couple of hundred Afghanis 🤷♂️

Hee Hee…not laughing at your predicament, but I think it is so cute that someone with a username Womble99 is asking about Hobbiton…..
Kind of like visiting my third cousins 😃

After Yaya's comment, maybe check if Princess has tours departing at times other than the one you booked.
Yeah i was thinking along those lines as well. Funny thing is though when I check the personaliser i can see availability for both the morning and afternoon session still being advertised????
Think we will just leave it and see what actually happens

Hmm I received a notice from Princess today that they have to cancel our excursion to the Hobbiton Movie set from Tauranga in Jan for 'Operational' reasons.
Pretty vague excuse. What is odd is that Hobbiton still has all the booking slots still reserved for the cruise line with a handful of vacancies dotted in between for the public.
Wonder what they need the extra bookings for?

Totally agree, most army people have never faced an angry man (or woman.)
Other than the RSM? 😉

The one-device plan means that you can only use one device at a time it doesn't limit you to using one device
We aren't traveling alone, there are these horrible things called teenagers tagging along....

Anyone remember what the 4 device plan was going for?

My apologies if you feel that, as an American, I have no place contributing to your little Australia/New Zealand corner here on Cruise Critic. While I often peruse the boards, because much of it is helpful and relevant to my job, I am new to interacting with them. I didn't realize there was nationality exclusivity.
Everyone is welcome down under 🙃, though as you may notice even down here some have stronger views than others. But please don't feel unwelcome, we appreciate input from all parties where ever they hail from.

Why is no one complaining about all of those 2 ups in suites?? Surely that is a waste as all suites are at least 3 pax???? 🤣
-
Damn, sorry. that was the only thing that worked for me.
Other than that I found I could never log in with my captain circle details, I can only log in using a booking number and surname???

Last time I had issues I found I needed to update the app. Have you tried update it from the play store?
-
Unfortunately it doesn't get the smell out though... especially from the cigar lounge if there is one on the ship.

Was yours for a renewal?
Both were renewals and we were not expecting them to take as long either.

I would like to say good luck, but I hope they have improved their service.
Mine took just under three months when submitted in Feb and my sons took nearly 5 months when submitted in Apr this year 😒
Onboard grand Princess 21st of December till 22nd of January

Speaking of prices going up, there has been plenty of discussion about the specialty restaurants going up. (supposedly another 14 Dec price rise)
Could you let us know what they are currently at?
