  1. You are most welcome. Japan is simply amazing, I hope you can go one day. Of course I’m glad for your news, and wish everyone would do the right thing, it would sure help with the spread. Our son did the same thing and stayed home until he tested negative. As there are so many dealing with this nasty disease and I do not wish to miss anyone I thought it best to refrain from naming individuals as I don’t wish to hurt anyone’s feelings if I accidentally omit someone. I truly hope that this is in our rear view mirror sooner than later, but alas I’m not hopeful. all the best.
  2. Toronto’s Pearson airport and Air Canada has been one of the worst if not the worst in the world recently with cancellations, lost luggage and stranded passengers. then Rogers, one of our three main telecoms went down for over a day, so people had no cellular service including emergency coverage as well.
  3. Thank you! The mock orange lasts only about two weeks, but it’s worth it. I just planted it last year after smelling a neighbour’s. In the bottom photo, pale pink and white is a single peony, I don’t know the variety as we bought our house many years ago from a real gardener who had some unusual varieties.
  4. Good morning and thanks all! Sorry so many are dealing with Covid and it’s aftereffects, stay safe all. @Vict0riann glad you found the luggage, just ordered apple air tags! @crazyforcats happy anniversary @kazu wow an over 10 feet monkshood, Amazing! Love that the birds are nesting. @angelcat sorry to hear about your brothers car. Shimizu was our first port of call in Japan, we visited a beautiful temple, saw the tea plantation’s and beautiful Fuji San. The temple
  5. @erewhon thanks! The one on the left is yarrow or achillea, it also comes in pink, The right one is a mock orange bush that smells divine and will get huge. @kazu Fun to see different gardens, your monkshood looks bionic!
  6. Eek,. We’re not quite that bad. As DS says we’re in the worst of summer mosquitos and now cougars 👀 Exactly! We’re not so frozen right now, except for the ice cream, I had two crazy local flavours yesterday, a strawberry jammy rhubarb, and prairie fairy, a blackberry and raspberry beer sorbet. I know you like ice cream.
  7. Good morning and thanks all! The wine and dinner both look great, but we’re under a heat warning so it will be fresh sockeye on the BBQ @marshhawk sending prayers for a good outcome for your DH Loving the gardens right now!

  9. We find that area very convenient
  10. We visited Canada’s highest paved mountain pass today, still a little snow even though it was over 30 at home
  11. @HAL Sailer love the story of Doris, so wonderful you were able to travel with your mom. @Seasick Sailor Happy birthday to your DH Allen! @Quartzsite Cruiserappreciate your posts and hope you get to Meteora one day @Sharon in AZI love tofu, especially in Japan, they serve it with a ginger sauce, Delicious. @kazu appreciate your ever helpfulness in teaching re posting photos, multiquotes and use of @ instead of multiple posts and not over sharing re toes 😉 it takes a little longer to post, but IMO it helps with the flow hope you can get to Meteora again on a clear day. @smitty34877 you made me giggle! Love beach photos @Horizon chaser 1957congratulations on your win! Score! @aliaschiefgood work on the clothes, you will be all set! a second language is always a great idea, I met DH in French class! How lovely! looks great! Thanks for stepping up! thanks to all who make this such a great place, and the effort spent on posting photos of the ports. I don’t want to miss anyone, so will just say thanks to all.
  12. Thanks Sandi, even with overnight we didn’t have quite as much time as I’d have liked, I think if possible go for two nights. It was amazing watching them at sunset. I think that wine barrel might be big enough for the daily 🤷‍♀️ @Cruising-along I can’t believe that skylight 👀😱
  13. Good morning and thanks all! I have a lot of respect for sharks, The movie Jaws did it for me, lol. I don’t like two faced people either, particular those who pretend to be nice then….. I much prefer straightforward people. We’ve visited Athens many times, so I will post photos from Meteora where we visited last cruise as we had an overnight in Athens, so that allowed us to visit and stay overnight. We often do different things if we’ve visited a port more than once. Sandi, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Buddy, my deepest condolences to you and your family. @Heartgrove sorry to hear your news. @HAL Sailer glad to hear some good news. @aliaschief for Norway we found having a good goretex jacket, along with light Merino wool layers worked really well. We were blessed with good weather, but that combo is light and works as well in Ireland, Japan etc along with a light pack able down vest or jacket.
  14. Good morning and thanks all. Nice to see so many dailyites enjoying the beach! We’ve been to Monaco twice, once by ship and once by train. Thanks for the photos Sandi and Kay. And Lenda! @kb4683oh my goodness, the prices of that beer, must be for those who can afford the Ferrari’s. It can be a different world, We once got invited to a yacht party just over the border on the Italian Riviera, thought we’d fallen down the rabbit hole. JFK’s yacht was there. @dfish thanks so much for all the things I learn, what an interesting ice cream. @cat shepard that wine sounds lovely. finally summer. Some photos from the regatta in Imperia, Italy.
  15. Good morning and thanks all! Have been to the Yukon but not Whitehorse, so nice to see the photos. Sorry to hear of even more Covid cases. @durangoscotsyikes,. Hope you heal quickly. @Seasick Sailor the good thing about Maui is the number of great doctors and specialists, so hopefully your sister will get quick treatment. When our son was little there was a pediatric cardiologist at the walk in. We’re under a heat warning, so finally summer (although auto said simmer) and thankful for the AC. A few cows from Switzerland, England, Italy
  16. Free with the chairs🤷‍♀️😜 I was a little nervous, our Canada Geese are known as cobra chickens. 😳😂
  17. @rafinmd My condolences. It doesn’t matter the age, its still a loss even when it’s expected. We’ve loved those older people even longer. Sending prayers! @StLouisCruisers sorry you have no definitive diagnosis, The ships DR had me elevate my leg and use ice when it wasn’t a blood clot. That seemed to help me. @HAL Sailer prayers for your DB
  18. Good morning and thanks all! We visited Tunisia years ago and enjoyed it, not sure I have access to my photos easily. @kazu Shadow was my first dog’s name, interesting information about the type of dog. Hope the poor toe feels better soon! @dfish sorry you are having such issues with your flights, hope it is sorted out soon! @smitty34877 so sorry to hear about poor little Camilla and her parents, hope it is mild. @StLouisCruisersglad you are getting your leg checked today, I had an issue onboard last cruise and the ships dr had me off for an ultrasound, asap. I was lucky it wasn’t a clot, praying all works out for you.
  19. Finding the RIck Steve’s discussion very interesting. We used his books a lot in our earlier travels, but then found his recommended hotels overrun. The ambiance was totally destroyed. We also found he missed a lot of truly amazing sites. I think he is a good place to start for planning but we too prefer to stay where we can walk to places easily, particularly in a city like Rome. Checkout other guide books like Frommers and Fodors too, and particularly the Michelin Green guide. It is fantastic. We have friends who have loved his tours, but the guidelines of having to carry one’s own luggage up several flights of stairs had us look elsewhere. We are independent travellers but have enjoyed a Globus tour.
  20. @TLCOhio thank you for the great article! Love the off the beaten path suggestions. Greece is one of our favourite places in the world and we’ve been near of few of these but you’ve whetted my appetite!
  21. Good day and thanks all! Love that quote as books are an important part of my life! Thanks for the beautiful port photos! @Heartgrove good news on your brother @Horizon chaser 1957 what a lovely gesture and beautiful scarf. Please remind me of your Etsy site, as I’ve forgotten. @Quartzsite Cruiser the Royal Hawaiian is such a great spot, but My favourite is their pink palace drink. Yum! One day I will stay there but we seldom go to Oahu. @kazu yikes on the toe, and pizza! But follow your heart and gut on the dog, only you will know when the time is right. Our friend got a new pup shortly after she lost her husband and it was a good thing for her. Looks like a very beautiful dog, one I’m not familiar with. happy Sunday, off to the lake
  22. My last one in Hawaii was Diphtheria and Tetanus, But here they wanted me to have all three, as Pertussis has made a come back. So DH had all three and I will next time too.
