  1. We had the Coast guard helicopter come for a rescue off the condo a week or so ago. With the high surf the swimmer couldn’t make it in to shore. He was foolish but fortunate. Far too big a risk, IMO.
  2. Good morning still here and thanks all! Wonderful dinner and drinks! @kazuGlad to hear Jacqui is out of the splint and cast, but sorry for the need to be extra careful. Glad you are getting such good care! You go girl, on the consultation, it’s not right that you were not given much assistance. @Seasick SailorJoy, I’m hoping you get some good advice soon and heal up well enough to enjoy your cruise. I too am in the same boat, I bring wrist bands, ginger gravol and take a meclizine at the first sign of any roughness. And Jacqui is right on the green apples too! Let us know how you get on, I have avoided transoceanic cruises. @Cruising-along Carolyn, sorry to hear your news, so hard when you do everything right! @kochleffel Paul, sorry to hear your news, hope the paxlovid loved works well quickly for you. @cat shepardgreat news on the checkup! We’ve visited Athens many times so last visit took the opportunity to do an overnight private tour from the ship to Meteora. Well worth it, spectacular monasteries.
  3. I think so, we haven’t seen them much until the last few days, messengers from heaven.
  4. @Seasick Sailor so sorry to hear your news! @Cruising-alongi am hoping there is a a good explanation and treatment!
  5. Good day and thanks for all the kind words. I found a chatty cardinal today strangely comforting. @kazutake good care, wear what you like! I have enjoyed the photos of Bruges, a place I suggest you visit. Never can you had enough of their chocolates, and their food was sublime not to mention Kriek! And then the wonderful tea lattes! @Seasick Sailor hoping nothing is broken! Today is DDs birthday, hard to believe I have a child that age, lol! the spinners visited yesterday!
  6. Thank you for all the kind words. My cousin has all her recipes, so I will be asking for the peach pie!
  7. Good morning and thanks all! A sad day as I lost my dear aunt this morning. Her family was grateful for the hospice care. I am sorry to lose a woman of great faith and support, not to mention her peach pies. sorry to hear of the flooding @ottahand7 @lobsternight love my last two suvs that had a place for my purse, lol! Waterford is in a beautiful place, I have some lovely crystal to remind me.
  8. Good morning and thanks all! Yikes on yup the frost quakes! I’ve never heard of them although our house can creak and groan at times! @ottahand7sorry you will miss the king penguins, our friends are just ahead of you by a few days on the sapphire princess and different weather. Like your thinking a good reason to return! @cat shepard I have a friend doing the vibration, don’t think it can hurt, I’ve done a couple of things that really helped me, one is eating several prunes a day. Something in them, the other is using hiking poles, I really increased the bone density in my spine without meds. Best of luck!
  9. @HAL Sailer my condolences! It’s never easy no matter how expected. @ottahand7 enjoying hearing of your adventures! Not sure I’m brave enough! Wow on the photos! We’re trying out our longest to escape winter! @kazuyikes on minus 45! That’s five million below on any scale! Stay safe and warm.
  10. @marshhawk if you want to sightsee a bit and go to the beach I would suggest you take the boat from the dock over to Oia, it’s a lovely village to walk around and have a slice of walnut cake. There are usually boats waiting at the dock and you can avoid the gondola on the way up, Then take the local bus or a taxi from Oia to Perissa or Kamari for the black sand beach and perhaps a nice lunch. Then take the bus or taxi back to Fira for a little wander and the gondola back down. I am Not as brave as Jacqui, walking down as the donkeys leave some deposits on the way.
  11. Good morning and thanks all! Prayers for those in need! Glad the doctor is keeping a close eye on you Jacqui! Gerry, brr glad I’m not home! We’ve visited Santorini multiple times and have also stayed there. Highly recommend Akrotiri, the black and red sand beaches. And @marshhawkOctober maybe just fine. And walnut cake in Oia with mastic ice cream. Last visit we were the only ship because of the dynamic positioning on the Koningsdam that could visit.
  12. Actually not at all, a lot of people spoke English and signs on buses and trains were also in English
  13. @Cruising-along sorry to hear you needed a biopsy, hoping it’s benign and heals quickly!
  14. @Seasick Sailor good to hear, hopefully soon it’s way better. Dental pain is no joke, and you didn’t make a peep!
  15. Or you could just buy the wonderful Global knives, Costco even sells them at times
  16. Rabbit rabbit rabbit! Yay on no politics. good news Roy! Hoping to hear more good news from Jacqui! Joy, how is your mouth? We had a spectacular sunset last night. 610E3F40-D881-4C73-A478-6D37F73E3061.MOV
  17. Oh Roy! Most nurses are angels but some…. my dear aunt has lived in her own home until 96 and has now been admitted to hospice So glad Jaqui found the right med balance to keep the pain under control @ger_77 glad to not be home! That’s how we like to deal with Canadian winter. After nearly a month of extreme cold I cannot face anymore!
  18. Oh Melisa! Wishing you a happy birthday! Hope your life settles down a bit! !
  19. Agree that you need to understand terms and conditions, BUT they will also do whatever to wriggle out of covering you. A few years ago our domestic flight in Italy was cancelled due to a fire in Rome airport and it cost us 700 euros for a replacement last minute. Our Amex at the time told us NO, but we said we wanted to submit a claim and they actually covered it. YMMV
  20. I echo eurocruiser, it’s so nice to be able to go back to your hotel and then wander around later when the day trippers are gone. That’s when the magic of Venice is revealed, I too would choose a hotel in Venice. We too have had good luck with best western properties. other wise you will go in for the day and return exhausted and unlikely to fully enjoy. Especially with a large group.
  21. Ortygia is absolutely lovely and well worth a visit as are the ruins in nearby Syracuse. Along with a lovely market and great food.
  22. I’d stay in the city, have not been on a beach there. Many of the Italian beaches are very organized, lots of chairs and umbrellas.
  23. Good morning and thanks all! @rafinmdso glad you went in to get checked! Now get better! @StLouisCruisers thanks for stepping up! @kazuoh. NO! So glad you called. Do not suffer in silence, praying things turn around soon! @marshhawkso glad you switched doctors! @dfishyum! @smitty34877 the hairstyle also known as the whale spout, lol! 🐳🐳
  24. Good morning and thanks all! Almost visited Taiwan but cancelled and went to Japan instead. I have read so many books about the holocaust, May I recommend Frankl’s a man’s search for meaning. And the Tattooist of Auschwitz and the book thief. The human spirit is amazing. @TiogaCruiser simply beautiful! Well maybe not so simply😉
  25. And Hawaii😉🤷‍♀️ @kazu so sorry to hear you needed more surgery. Now let the healing finally begin! Some flowers for you
