  1. Oh enjoy! I hope you get sunshine and blossoms as we did in late April in 2019. There is also a beautiful garden near the port, one of the top three in Japan. KenRokuen
  2. Thanks Rich for your insights. We’ve done several over three week cruises, but may try something in between. Also really appreciate the little cards with the travel quotes. Thanks for all the lovely photos!
  3. Good morning and thanks all! @rafinmdand @Quartzsite Cruiserreally enjoyed the photos of Prince Rupert and the ferries! Thankyou! No exes or hexes here 😀 @cruising sister so sorry to hear your sad news. Sending my condolences! Glad he is settling in, I have family in Everett, so understand the traffic issue. Hopefully, you are staying at the outer edge so hope it’s ok for you. The monthly amount is eye watering, makes me again grateful for our health system.
  4. Thanks for the tip about Emma, our DGD name. We love Brunello, also read somewhere that it was the late Queen Elizabeth’s favourite. If you get a chance go to Montalcino where it’s grown. it’s readily available by the glass and you can try some really wonderful ones.
  5. Yay on the mammogram, boring and normal are good, Don’t like to ever tempt fate! Toad in the hole is an egg Cooked inside a slice of bread that has had a hole cut out of it, guess the new thing is to put pesto in the frying pan, than the slice of holey bread, and fry an egg in the hole! Not sure if a mom or grandma somewhere invented this to get kids to eat eggs.
  6. Good morning and thanks all! If my geography is correct, the Bay of Biscay can be dicey. Hope you got to enjoy Santiago del Compestela as well. Safe travels! Amazed at all the plants you have a managed to get started with your fracture! Kudos! Gorgeous! We found the shingrix a little tough in the side effects, but are glad we have it. Just recovering from another Covid booster, much easier than Shingrix for me. Wow, they should have had to pay for your legal costs! And I’m moaning about 2 k for literally a consultation. Yum, I saw a TikTok thing where they’re making toad in a hole with pesto. Truly hoping your mammogram results are normal, life can really turn on a dime. We did the radon test as well, but ours had to remain in place much longer. Hoping you get good results! Always wise to check! Terry, hoping things settle and the aide settles in and adapts. Sending lots of gentle hugs! I am so sorry you had to cancel, always so disappointing. I miss the wonderful soups, scones and tea in the UK. Hopefully you can go when you are feeling better. Praying you get good results on the PET scan, or at least the blessing to go ahead. Hoping your knee settles so your cruise isn’t impacted. Good news, some of the migrating red tail hawks are back. Now if I could only find a bluebird!
  7. Hello Judy, I am not @erewhon but will give you my understanding. It’s not a matter of liking only those who multiquote, but if posters makes numerous single posts it makes the thread very long. erewhon is down under so reads at the end. So it is really only a matter of kindness. if you do want to multiquote just check the little box beside quote as you read posts and it is done automatically for you. I learned this from very kind people on this thread who try to help each other to make it a good place for all. Anyone is most welcome to post, we’d love to hear more about you, where you’re from, what cruises you’ve done more the merrier. @erewhon hoping I have explained this well enough. I was saddened to hear about your father in law’s prisoner of war experience. But glad you had a nice anniversary.
  8. Thank you! DS who is a Theology Student has told me some lovely prayers, and has learned a little Hebrew. It is so nice to learn more.
  9. Good Morning. And Happy Easter! @luvteachinghappy birthday and Happy anniversary! @ger_77happy anniversary! @erewhonhappy anniversary! @marshhawk you might want to up your potassium and magnesium, my mother also swore (which she never actually did) by sleeping with a bar of soap. @Cruising-alonghope you turn the corner soon! @kochleffel thanks for sharing all the traditions! Does one wish a good Passover? @StLouisCruisers that little face made my day!
  10. wow! DH is drooling, he loves Nutella! I paid 8$ in NYC at least 10 years ago, so seems like a bargain to me.
  11. That is a way nicer Easter brunch menu than precovid! Even dessert!
  12. Good morning and thanks all! Happy birthday Sandi! Happy anniversary Fred and Mitzi! We were married at Easter as well five decades ago, hard to believe, but our actual anniversary date isn’t for a couple of weeks. Always feel like we have two anniversaries. Happy Easter! Good passover and Ramadan wishes too! It’s starting to feel like spring, the golden eyes are courting, hurts my neck just watching! @RedneckBob those sand hill cranes have quite the strange unforgettable squawk!
  13. Good morning on this beautiful Good Friday! We enjoyed St. John New Brunswick many years ago, thanks for the lovely photos! We live near a very large urban park with a lot of beavers
  14. Good morning and thanks all! We enjoyed snorkeling with the sting rays in Grand Cayman, although I was reluctant at first! @kazu @RedneckBobsorry you both are dealing with a Lot. Sometimes one just cannot verbalize and I add my thoughts and prayers for any on here struggling. And to those who are waiting… @Cruising-along I hope you both improve soon @marshhawkglad the tests are over, hope you get good results. @AncientWanderer Maxine, I hope you too will soon feel better. I have read that Covid may affect immunity. I really appreciated your kind words. will gladly celebrate tartans and poppies!
  15. Was just thinking of this interesting tuna, and the wonderful scent. They also had great soups in that market and the castle is lovely. We also found some beautiful vintage silk kimonos for a very reasonable price. Sorry to hear how rainy it is. We agree there is no need for an excursion in Kochi. And a lot of the markets were undercover. HAL provided a shuttle to town when we were there.
  16. Don’t know about the alcoholic drinks. These were soft drinks. We too found the best and easiest exchange at 7-11.
  17. Just a note to add that these are famous for their sandwiches. Eugene Levy did part of an episode on the egg salad sandwiches on the reluctant traveller. I highly recommend the chicken Katsu sandwiches if you need a light meal and the delightful peach drinks they have. The vending machines are also interesting to try both hot and cold drinks, Glad you and @cruisemom42 got to meet!
  18. Good morning and thanks all! @dfish those eggs look great! But add me to the they gotta be cooked group! @Cruising-along so glad you had good test results! Sorry your DH got Covid, but hope the paxlovid works quickly. I do wish more people would still mask indoors. I have heard of a lot of cases recently here. @summer slope sending hugs, hope your dear pet gets several more good years. Lymphoma is nasty.
  19. It doesn’t really matter how long, it can still hit us years later. Hugs!
  20. Late to the party! @ger_77 I have tears, we have so much, bless you. And bless that little girl who has so little yet wanted to thank you! Truly special! @dfish that cod looks great! Glad you got your flights straightened out! @Cruising-along I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your sister, not sure how I missed this! Hugs!
  21. We loved the Koningsdam for 23 days, enjoyed the tamarind, Dutch cafe and beautiful dining room. We are among those that love the old larger promenade, but that was easily resolved by booking a cabin with a large veranda. So the pluses far outweighed the very few minuses. The last time on the Noordam we found the decor in the stateroom not up to snuff in a signature suite. Whereas the Westerdam was nicely updated. So depends on extent of recent dry docks on older ships.
  22. Good morning! Will happily celebrate Palm Sunday and children’s books! My favourite is probably Robert Munsch, I’ll love you forever. It always brings A tear to my eyes. Highly recommend if you aren’t familiar with it. We found a visit to Normandy very profound. Our DD felt it was her whole Grade 12 Social studies; she was shocked to see the ages of the dead at the Canadian war cemetery to be like hers at the time. Highly recommend a visit to Juno Beach and the Imperial war museum in Caen. We need to return to see the new Canadian war museum there. It was surreal to visit Vimy Ridge and see Canadian signage as it has become Canadian land. 100 hectares given in gratitude from France for the Canadian sacrifice.
  23. Aghios Nikolas on Crete is beautiful, there is a land locked lake. Thanks for the list!
  24. We love Venice and how magical it becomes after the day trippers are gone. We would stay there, and if you can splurge take a private water taxi to the airport. We had to do that one time out of necessity as it was an early flight, but the memory of sailing though Venice at sunrise was priceless.
  25. Lots of boat tours out of Cassis.
