  1. No quota, lol! But it’s easy to lose sight of the big picture sometimes. I read because cruising Japan was one of our favourite cruises, I didn’t realize I needed to explain🤷‍♀️. Never said it was all about me, just a different view point.
  2. Will love to hear your opinion as it is always balanced.
  3. Unfortunately, even though the OP said the food was good as was the cabin service, he was disappointed in the lack of late night entertainment. For us, we are often so tired from our explorations that is not a big issue for us. I would not hesitate to choose HAL if I liked the itinerary and price. Always interesting to remember that for each negative, people need three positives to balance things out.
  4. Wondering if that’s not two combined, as it’s in Civitavecchia twice. We’ve done three of these on HAL, 24, 23 and 21 days but they could all be booked in two parts. Be very careful when you book. We actually booked the last one as 23 days when later we discovered it was several thousand less to book separately. HAL gave us a credit which I hope wont become problematic. Curious if the 51 day Japan is a series?
  5. Beautiful! I hope you enjoyed your cruise despite the weather! Welcome home! Ooh, I have one too, so much fun! I agree! Hope you feel better soon!
  6. Good morning and thanks al! @ottahand7 drool, what a line up! @cat shepard thanks for the description, I wonder how much it is at Costco? @travelnaptwo out of three is not bad? lol! @kazu ooh he’s beautiful! Almost looks like a Weimaraner. For the book club, there’s a great book by Robert Harris called Enigma, also the book The Rose Code is based in Bletchley park. It is a place well worth a visit! And nearby Wrest Park too. Some of the grounds and the Enigma machine . Wrest Park, the former Earl de Grey’s home, bought by a distant relative of DH. Now part of English Heritage.
  7. Good morning and thanks all! I will gladly celebrate nurse and teachers! I am grateful to have had an angel to check on me since surgery. Not all angels have wings! DD is a teacher and I also taught for many years. The situation is dire, praying for rain! 8. As I mentioned in a previous post, that has been the case as long as I can remember. But I have seen the inside passage also described as north of Vancouver island as well, with other cruise lines as well. So the devil is in the details, the map description would have likely shown which side of Vancouver island. The same cruise next year shows inside passage to Ketchikan than to Victoria which would be outside of Vancouver island. So wondering if that was the case this year as well?
  9. I also need to add one of my other favourite cruises, a long Mediterranean. We’ve done three of them, 21 days on the Noordam, 24 on the Nieuw Amsterdam in a Neptune and 23 on the Koningsdam. The Neptune wrap was hopefully not a once in a life time experience, the stateroom made it special, cocktail parties, dinner with linens on the balcony, watching the Pleiades Meteor shower off Kefalonia, and making some lifelong friends. We enjoyed sailing into Venice on the Grand canale, visiting Istanbul and those sublime aft views. And they still had the chocolate extravaganza and deck barbeques. Also sailing again with some of those friends on the Koningsdam was sublime.
  10. So agree about Newfoundland, you know you’re still in Canada but it’s otherworldly in a great way! We weren’t even always able to understand the dialect! And the music was incredible and the food!
  11. Royal Canadian Mounted police leading the parade followed later by members of the Royal Canadian Navy, Royal Canadian Air Force and Canadian Armed Forces. King Charles was also presented with Noble, a RCMP horse. Queen Elizabeth rode Burmese a black RCMP horse for 18 consecutive years for the trooping of the colours. IMG_3138.avif
  12. We have visited both places and really enjoyed spending several nights in Rotterdam. It is very close to Kinderdikj, which we really enjoyed. You see how the people lived in the windmills and can go inside them. Rotterdam is a very modern city because of the war, It has a first rate art museum. We also enjoyed a wonderful Ristafl, highly recommend you try that. And they had a very interesting restaurants. It is also very well connected by public transport, trains, trams, etc. We easily visited the very beautiful Delft, and also The Hague which is a lovely city. So lots of possibilities. I would recommend two or three nights in Rotterdam depending on what you wish to visit. So your idea of a few nights pre cruise in one city and a few nights in the other post sounds great..
  13. Thanks copper! We had the pleasure of getting to know former Staff Captain Sabine on the Zuiderdam, dining with her and being invited to the bridge. Such a loss!
  14. Good morning and thanks all! @dfishyummy! absolutely glorious! Thanks for sharing! @superomathanks for your diligence! The over 100 fires are a mess here and we got a province wide warning about travelling. So many displaced! Laughter is so important for us all! I will most definitely celebrate that! Even black humour which some don’t find funny but serves a purpose as a release. We very much enjoyed visiting the Jurassic coast where I found an amazing fossil. And the stunning coastline of Durdle door. I will adjust my tiara….
  15. Not sure why you think me rude? We are all definitely entitled to our opinions, and most often if I disagree or don’t like something I scroll on by without comment or reporting.
  16. One more, we were very close and it was cool to see the Royal standard
  17. I agree, I too appreciate the information and kind and caring concern for each other. I have always enjoyed what I’ve always considered to be reasonable and respectful discussions. IMO as long as we are polite that is healthy. I don’t like all the drama, I have more than enough in my own life, especially as I await my final pathology…. But my sense of justice is disturbed when I see one long contributing poster unfairly targeted. Especially by posters who just pop in to complain. I enjoy the royals, we were fortunate to see Prince William and Catherine on their honeymoon, in our city.
  18. It’s hard to keep up today as things fly by. Disappointing to see our usual tolerance is lacking.
  19. It is a long haul flight, but we then flew to Hiroshima and by staying up until a Normal time we switched over quickly. Our friends took the airport limousine bus directly from Narita to our hotel in Yokohama. It is a very comfortable bus, and they put the luggage underneath. I too wouldn’t want to deal with trains and schlepping luggage.
  20. We have always had lovely weather in Alaska, May and July with temps in the 80s. It is very moderate on the coast. This Canadian finds it lovely, I think it’s a common misconception that it’s cold. Too bad you didn’t do the inside passage, it is spectacular scenery and calm waters. But as long as I can remember true inside passage cruises go to Vancouver and the ones to Seattle go outside Vancouver island. Sometimes they consider part of the passage north of Vancouver island as also inside passage, so that may be the technicality.
  21. I agree whole heartedly, when Charles married Camilla it was stated she would only ever become Princess Consort. Much Later, Queen Elizabeth stated she wished that Camilla would become Queen consort. We’ll never know if she was pressured, but IMO it is a slap in the face to many that she will be queen, as now they quietly drop the consort. Which was NOT the deal. But she will not be mine! I think this is the end and the polls I have read agree with the majority in Canada no longer wanting a monarch as head of state. Queen Elizabeth not be replaced for me. I do have a little sympathy in that Charles wanted to marry Camilla years ago, but that wasn’t allowed. But how Diana was treated and the carrying on were wrong, and to have him as head of the Church of England is a bit of a stretch for me. @ger_77how fun!
  22. You are very welcome, IIRC correctly the ones directly beside the Neptune may be a bit wider😉
