Do not advocate only one individual answer as you point out by my previous post. What I do advocate is not having numerous people post the basic same answer over and over and over again.

Of course, but everyone has to have a say on the subject, no matter how many times repeated.

Exactly. Many threads could be less than 10 posts if it wasn't for posting opinions.

I can live with Princess insistent push but it gets real tiring of posters who push and push and push the benefits of the packages. If it works for you then pay the additional price and enjoy them. If it does not work then do not pay the additional price and enjoy your cruise. But please stop giving Princess free advertisement for them.

Isn't that the purpose of Cruise Critic, having a discussion about the pros & cons of anything? If just posting one individual answer were sufficient there wouldn't be much need for a bulletin board at all.

If you live without paying the Crew Appreciation the package is even less value.

With Princess inflated drinks prices it can be quite easy to go over the threshold with just a few alcoholic drinks a morning coffee and a couple of bottles of water for the off ship time.

Ah yes, gratuities. I still haven't gotten used to the new acronyms.

Without any package, they can be adjusted up or down.

You must have a very low threshold. You should be having 4 or 5 drinks early in the morning before you leave the ship.

But then you might return to your cabin and find the lost card and could have avoided the trip to guest services.  But if wasting time at guest services is your thing, go for it. BTW, there is no charge.

How many times do you lose your card or medallion?

I can't say it's ever happen to me.

It's not that hard. If you add up everything you were planning to buy on the cruise anyway (wifi, CA, and a few other things that vary per person) and it costs more than the package, not getting the package would be dumb. 🤷‍♀️

I'm not sure what CA is but I doubt that I can't live without it.

    Wi-Fi is something I defiantly don't need.

So what items are really left except alcoholic drinks and if it's a port intensive cruise it's very difficult to justify when you're not on the ship all day.

All the remaining items don't add up to that much for many to buy into the package.

I think you expressed this feeling earlier in the thread and someone addressed it there as well.  I'm not sure why you think your fellow cruisers are so gullible and uninformed.??  Everyone has a different vision of their vacation.

Sorry, I didn't realize I had responded previously in this same thread.

There seem to be many of them lately.

Once a post is answered why does everybody else have to post their opinion. the old adage "Asked and answered" should apply but never does.

Simply because it's answered to the satisfaction of the person that posts it and doesn't take into account of any other opinions.

What is the queuing system for departing the ship to Princess Cay?  I'm going to be on the Caribbean Princess.  How does one get on an early tender?  Thanks

Be ready to get on an early tender as soon as they begin to hand out boarding tickets.

People complain about the "high cost" of the cruise lines that fold everything into their price, usually followed with "I don't need/want X, Y, or Z" - and that is precisely why the biggest cruise lines offer budget basic rates and packages.

They do a great job to convivence most of their passengers to buy into on of their packages. Some folks can't bear the thought of sailing without it even when the cost can be up to 1/3 the cost of the cruise alone.

Either way, if Princess is doing better than 80% on base fare sailing, they absolutely should cut back on the included offerings for people not paying more. 80% of customers actively handing over more money is impressive upsell.

I wouldn't doubt that they've hashed it over many times to see what else they could remove from a standard sailing.

They seem to have cut the basics to the bone right now.

What's left? Possibly cutting our Elite laundry or at least putting a cap on it.

    Maybe eliminating the cabin setup?

On Christmas Eve I asked the waiter when escargot would be on the menu. He shook his head “no”. After many Princess cruises I replied, kinda joking, “what’s going on with Princess!!!”  He said let me talk to the chef and ten minutes later we had delicious snails!😋

I've often wondered why they say things like that....possibly to get an additional tip for special service?

Many of us that purchase the Plus or Premier packages have several Elite benefits that are of no value to us.

You can always switch everything out for a bottle of wine to carry home.

I'm curious why people don't give their carryons to the porters. Is that risky (i.e., they may get lost or stolen from)?

We always carry all our own luggage on with us, not just the smaller bags.

We enjoy the convenience of having it there immediately after lunch and not have to wait for it to be delivered.

This guy wore a kilt. We did see one who had supposedly been on some show or other but, while he wasn't very good, he was still much better than the guy in the kilt.

Now you made me look up that guys name- it was Joel Meyers and he was just as bad on TV as on the ship. He wasn't wearing a kilt, although maybe he should have to make the show more interesting.

All his tricks were stuff you can buy at a magic shop and they weren't very good 25 years ago.

Sad, but he's the best that Princess can afford lately. 😉

What has happened with escargot on Enchanted Princess? Our Christmas cruise, it was not on the menu any night.

They did have escargot but perhaps it was on the New Years cruise.

I can't recall for sure which cruise it was.

Excuse me, but you have already told us on numerous occasions that you would NEVER buy the packages that are so overpriced.  You also said that the wine you bring onboard is enough for both of you and you take a glass to the dining room.  You also said that you cannot imagine anyone drinking anywhere near 15 drinks per day and you could never do that and that folks who did “have a real problem”.

I’m sorry, but you are constantly contradicting yourself!  I’m at a loss as to what to believe.

First of all I don't plan on buying a "package" in the future as it's way to expensive even if you do hit the max number of 15.

Yes we do bring numerous bottles of wine with us on the ship and have never paid them a cent corkage. (you have to know how to get around the charge.)

Lastly, I didn't say I drank all of those 15 drinks I ordered. The package is definitely not cost effective for occasional drinkers.

When we got on Caribbean Princess for our Christmas cruise there was no priority boarding, it was a free for all. We are Elite and were quite disappointed by the whole embarkation process.

It was the same thing on the Enchanted at Christmas. Lots of confusion.
