Could be anytime. Lately, some have reported just before sailing. A lot of factors now, guarantees offered on most sailings, bidding and full ships, so I would just keep checking.
Good luck!
I was responding to this question:
This was to explain that Barcelona, for them, was just a port stop.
So, no worries about immigration, as it shouldn’t take very long.

We are taking this cruise - Athens to Rome. We wanted to go to Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. If we have to go thru immigration, what time should we book our tickets for?
We’ve seen that on Carnival and RCCL with the service dog in the stroller,
dressed with a bow to match the lady’s outfit! 😳
They have puddle pads for the dog and there was also a place on the promenade deck marked for dog’s relieving station. They walk them on the promenade deck or upper sun decks.
Depends on what tours are offered, what time the ship arrives.
From Athens…Barcelona will just be a port stop, not a turnaround or disembarkation, so you should be quick to get through the port. Maybe 30 mins tops. From the time you leave the ship.
Our arrival was very early, 5 or 6 am. Sagrada tours probably don’t even start until 9am? Don’t remember. I would get off, grab a taxi and plan to be at the church at least 1/2 hour early.
Were you on a turnaround? Were you coming from a non EU country?
I think it was because it was our first major EU port coming in and they wanted to stamp our passports.
I bet if you’re embarking from a EU port and doing a turnaround or b2b you wouldn’t have to get
it stamped,
Regardless, if you were on a tour or wanted to just get off, you could get off with everyone else. Might have to take passport and get It stamped though. That’s what some of the b2b’s did, instead of waiting around to be escorted off and back on.
@Steelers36 is spot on! Great suggestions. I’ll add Gibraltar…get on your roll call and see if others, maybe 6 of you or 8 can do a taxi tour of the Rock. It’s perfect, you see everything. Walking around town, would not show you anything.
We used this taxi company. Great tour.

Could this have been the 1/2 off beverage package sale, recently offered in the UK?
Almost sounds like the old package.
Your TA/CVP should be able to check on it for you.
Here’s the kicker…
They should give you the BA category or better…
They could assign you in a deluxe balcony and that could be in an aft area, but a bigger cabin. So, that is possible or a mini suite aft or fwd would also be an UG.
Good luck!
No, not any limit paying for a cruise. Never had a problem.
I no longer try to add GC as OBC precruise, do to the lack of training of PCL agents. I just take a printed copy of my egift cards once OB to GS. No problems.
That’s the maximum you can purchase of OBC. On PCL website.
