  1. Greetings from beautiful Punta Gorda Another cool rainy El Niño morning, no golf today Silly quote I’m good with the meal We took a road trip from Chicago to Montreal and Quebec City in 1975, wonderful cities. Being from Chicago I admired Adlai Stevenson and when I was 10 years old my favorite uncle took me to the 1956 Democrat National Convention at Chicago’s International Amphitheater and we saw Mr. Stevenson’s nomination acceptance speech for President. He was a rare breed, he was an honest politician and he also was very good when he was the United States Ambassador to the United Nations in JFK’s administration I also happened to see JFK speak at Chicago Stadium 4 days before the 1960 election as part of Mayor Daley’s Torch Light Parade from Downtown to the Stadium I also shook hands with Richard Nixon at Disneyworld in 1984, enough politics Have a great day and stay well
  2. Looks to me for some reason HAL port charges in the Caribbean are higher than Celebrity and Princess, why would that be. For instance we are sailing Feb 15 on a 9 day cruise to Grand Cayman and the ABC islands, port charges are 129.00 per person. We are also on the Sky Princess for a 7 day cruise in May and port charges are 180.00 each. A 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise with HAL in December is 225.00 each, something smells.
  3. On another note, don’t you live in Newcastle? I started watching Vera and I think it takes place in your neck of the woods, so far a good show but Vera is quite a character, haven’t figured out yet if I like her as a person, she’s a little rough around the edges.
  4. So sorry for the passing of Julia and hope Paul pulls through.
  5. Greetings from beautiful Punta Gorda 66 right now heading up to 75 but quite a bit of rain coming today and again tomorrow, looks like I won’t be playing golf on Monday. Doesn’t look good either for the final round of the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am out in California, they’re going to get pounded with tons of rain and probably some flooding. I know some jerks but I wouldn’t call them significant Interesting quote I’ll pass on the meal Wordle was tough today but I prevailed and got it on the last try, still undefeated at 31-0. Have a great day and stay well
  6. Greetings from beautiful Punta Gorda Low 50s right now, 73 this afternoon Just returned from our favorite diner where I had a nice Western Omelette Good quote but ugh on the days We’ve been to Seattle and Puget Sound I ordered Beef Stroganoff on our Sky Princess cruise this past December and it was very good Have a great day and stay well
  7. I was stationed at Gettysburg Air Force Radar Station in South Dakota in 1966 and early 1967, some of our guys had personal rifles and as a favor to local farmers they would drive out to some of the fields and shoot the gophers or prairie dogs as the gophers harmed the crops.
  8. Greetings from beautiful Punta Gorda where it’s 53 right now with a high today of 73 Meh on the days I do have a memory like an elephant though I’ve never met one up close and personal DW wife makes a great beef stew, one of my favorite meals I have no interest in visiting anywhere that it’s freezing like Greenland, we did an Alaskan cruise in August of 2000 and that was cold enough This just in, Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow so look for an early spring up north Have a great day and stay well
  9. Your Florida comment is right on the money this winter, El Niño is the culprit.
  10. Greetings from beautiful Punta Gorda where we have another cool but sunny morning at 51 with a high of 72 Mixed bag of days with car insurance being a necessary evil as is changing your password but I’m glad for candy making day especially anything with chocolate in it I’m in on the soup We’ve sailed into Gatun Lake a few times plus on one cruise we did the train ride from Colon the full length of the Canal to Panama City, pretty interesting as we stopped at the museum at the Miraflores Locks. Have a great day and stay well
  11. Greetings from beautiful Punta Gorda A cool 52 morning heading up to 73 with sunny skies It’s nice to get our Social Security check but it is our money as we paid into it all our working lives Brandy Alexanders are pretty good but haven’t had one in decades and I’ve never worn a gorilla suit Pass on the meal Off to the golf course in a few minutes Have a great day and stay well
  12. Thanks @StLouisCruisers, take care with your shoulder.
  13. Greetings from beautiful Punta Gorda Coolest morning of the winter season with a low of 47, 67 for the high, warming up tomorrow with low 70s through Sunday I like a croissant once in awhile Interesting quote I like the meal Yesterday afternoon DW tripped on a sprinkler head in the back yard, wound up with a laceration on the lower left leg and needed 7 stitches, we spent 2 hours in the emergency room, she had a little pain but is doing pretty good this morning, being a retired registered nurse she knew what to do with icing and managed to almost stop the bleeding before we reached the hospital I started playing Daily Wordle almost a month ago, sort of hooked now and have won 26 games without a loss, I’ve gone down to the last line more than a few times Good day on the course yesterday morning as I shot my age with a pretty smooth 77 but took a double bogey on the last hole Have a great day and stay well.
  14. Greetings from beautiful Punta Gorda Cool morning in the mid 50s with a high of only 66 I will be celebrating Curmudgeon Day as I can go that route once in awhile Tough quote, some enemies are hard to forgive Pass on the drumsticks Early tee time today Have a great day and stay well
  15. Agree on HAL, we love their ships especially the Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam, we were very loyal to them but just too many cutbacks in food, service and entertainment, so they lost us.
  16. Greetings from beautiful Punta Gorda Rainy morning preceding a cool front, high today will be 74 but then in the 60s for a few days with lows in the mid 50s Interesting quote and days, will never forget the explosion of the Challenger Space Shuttle with Christa McAauliffe being one of Astronauts who were killed in the explosion, sad day for the United States Food sounds good We have been to Costa Rica a few times, one time we took a nice tram ride over the rain forest. Also got a kick out of seeing the cutter ants at work Have a great day and stay well
  17. Greetings from beautiful Punta Gorda Another beautiful day in the 80s but then only in the 70s tomorrow and 60s next week The Holocaust should never be forgotten and I will add that this Greek American boy stands with Israel I love all kinds of Chocolate so hooray for Chocolate Cake Day The same with Turkey so the meal works for me Been to Greece but not the port of the day Heading off to Cracker Barrel in a few minutes for breakfast Have a great day and stay well
  18. Greetings from beautiful Punta Gorda Another great day coming up, mid 80s today and again tomorrow then we cool off again all next week The quote makes quite of bit of sense though I was willing to die for my country when I served 4 years in the Air Force Like Beer cans the other day, I don’t appreciate dental drills Early tee time today Have a great day and stay well
  19. We moved to Florida over 30 years ago, best move ever, we wouldn’t live anywhere else in the USA.
  20. Thanks, we have a neighbor lady who is from England and she also recommended Vera.
  21. Greetings from beautiful Punta Gorda 3 more nice days in the 80s coming up but then it’s back in the 60s for highs next week Pretty funny quote Herb roasted chicken sounds good to me Don't care for Screwdrivers I love watching British Cop shows on streaming channels, finished “Line Of Duty” last week and now am into “Unforgotten”, Nicola Walker is one great actress. In the last few years I’ve watched some other great shows with Broadchurch, Endeavour and Midsomer Murders being my favorites Have a great day and stay well
  22. Greetings from beautiful Punta Gorda Finally some warm weather, heading up to 83 today, will be a lot easier to swing the golf club today Interesting quote, I try to be as good of a person as I can be and it’s in God’s hand after that DW makes great Salmon cakes, we call them patties and she adds a slice of American cheese on each one, very tasty Talk about belly laughs, I watched “It’s a Mad Mad Mad World” the other night and the first time I saw that movie in 1964 my stomach hurt from so many belly laughs i don’t care for beer and so don’t appreciate beer cans. It’s hard to beat a tall gin and tonic on a hot summer day after a round of golf Have a great day and stay well
